mtrftw
What I don't understand is why the free version can't burn ISOs. I mean, most of the stuff ppl burn is image based, plus it only means you have to burn all the stuff you want right away, there is no save feature for burning stuff later. Most of the stuff the average joe burns isn't image based. It's going to be audio cds or pictures. pixated
Not sure why anyone would use this. ImgBurn > NERO (and has been for a long time). Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/804376-nero-burning-rom-goes-free/page/3/#findComment-591357230 Share on other sites
i_was_here
Wouldn't Nero 5/6 do more than this and still be smaller? Anyways looks like Nero jumped to the opposite extreme and stripped too many features. MidnightDevil
I don't like the express thing either... I enjoyed nero because of the nero burning rom without the express.. plus it got so bloated that I just switched to cdburner xp and I'm very happy with it... but thank's :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/804376-nero-burning-rom-goes-free/page/3/#findComment-591358018 Share on other sites
ViZioN
I'll stick with Imgburn. Gave up this cludge years ago. This. I used to use Nero but ImgBurn does exactly what I need :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/804376-nero-burning-rom-goes-free/page/3/#findComment-591358066 Share on other sites

way2quik
Express was great way back. With newer technology rolling in, I needed Nero Burning Rom and its other features. The additional bloat to Nero the past many releases became slow (yet still usable for even the cheapest computers out there today). In a sense, ImgBurn. :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/804376-nero-burning-rom-goes-free/page/3/#findComment-591358072 Share on other sites

Andrew Lyle Global Moderator Posted July 30, 2009 Global Moderator Share Posted July 30, 2009 Here's a trickDownload the free version, start to install, get the cd-key. Back out of the install (don't install) Grab the most current "update" aka the full file from there site: http://www.nero.com/eng/downloads-nero9-update.php Install, erase the auto generated "trial" key, and past in the key from the free version. Instant up-to-date version, plus some additional free stuff that doesn't show up on the "free version" aka burn audio cd. Most other features are still disabled. Heh.. that actually worked... djesteban
That would of been nice 8 years ago... when Nero was a nice app. Now, I mean, Imgburn is so much better Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/804376-nero-burning-rom-goes-free/page/3/#findComment-591358142 Share on other sites
closetgeek
This free version seems a little pointless, there are much better free alternatives out there, it's far too stripped down to be considered useful, but wow, I never realised how many people despised Nero. I find the features especially editing capabilities of Nero 9 to be invaluable and know of no free app that can do just as much. Tekzel
CDBurnerXP destroys this piece of crap, and the installer is about 3mb. Hilarious. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/804376-nero-burning-rom-goes-free/page/3/#findComment-591359270 Share on other sites
