[Official] Batman: Arkham Asylum

Not sure if this would be considered a spoiler, but I need help getting past a certain point in the game:

So, haven't really had any issues going through the game until now. I'm in the Botanical Gardens where two Dr's. are in cages, suspended over a pit. The goal is to take out the operator who has the control to drop the cage before anyone sees me. I found the vent that takes me above the action, but if I climb down, I'm seen. If I glide kick down, I'm seen. How do I get past this area????

that part is easy mate.

just get as high up as possible via vents and the grapple then glide over to the far side and run around till you find another vent that is near the control room and voila...sorry for this **** poor explanation, but there isn't anything too it.

You missed out on the best deal a few weeks ago Pheee. The Hut had preorders for ?23 or something.

They are still the best price, but it's now up at ?35. Same story with Shopto.

?22.:p :p

I went out to buy the game today and the PS3 version was sold out everywhere. One store had a bunch of X360 copies remaining, but the PS3 version was nowhere to be seen. :(

Good timing on the release date with the Slim, it seems nearly everyone who picks up a Slim buys Batman

Damit. I am already stuck. :p What do I do with that ventilation duct with the security screws? I tried my baterang, but no go.

Figured it out. :p nvm.

@Audio, yeah I went to Toys 'R' Us and the PS3 was sold out and they had a couple of X360's left though. So I had to go to BB and got it there and they had a couple for each console.

I thoroughly enjoyed the demo. The combat was fantastic and the stealthy elements were perfectly implemented. The engine brings great graphics, animations, and so on and so forth.

I will definitely pick it up sometime down the road.

Yeah, that's exactly what I thought but the slim PS3 hasn't been released yet in Canada. At least, as far as I'm aware. The "estimated" release date is August 26th so I'm going to backup my 160GB PS3, re-pack it, and return it to the store I bought it from (just in case any slim PS3s arrived). Gotta love the 30-day return policy. I'll have a better looking PS3 plus $100 in my pocket. And Batman: Arkham Asylum for $38.89CAD. Oh, the joy! :turned:

did you get it @ Best Buy? Cause I did.. and I didn't get the free guide. Cause they said they had preorders to fill .. like wtf. anyway.. the dude told me to check by the end of the week. Best Buy will still honor the free guide. at least that's what he said -.- ugh. Anyway.. I"m having fun playing this. on several occasions I got stuck. I kept going back and forth.. soo frustrating.. then I see a door (which is soo damn concealed cause it blends soo well with the damn background.. ) I was like god damnit. lol.

Yeah, I think at the time I was not going to get it or something, I do kick myself a little now for not ordering and cancelling at some point if not wanted.

Will see if I resist temptation or not.

    • UK funds £60M AI labs to challenge US tech dominance with open-source models by Paul Hill The UK government has awarded £60 million to Oxford University and University College London to help keep the country in the AI race by focusing on open-source, low-hardware alternatives. This is in stark contrast to the expensive, closed-source, and high-hardware-requirement models being created in the United States and elsewhere. The money will be shared among two new academic research labs over six years to help them redesign the fundamental mathematics and architectures of AI to help the UK reduce its reliance on a handful of US tech firms. Commenting on the development, AI Minister Kanishka Narayan said: Initially, the government planned to fund just one lab with a £40 million investment, but with this update, two labs will now get access to a larger pool of funds. The labs are expected to invest in the top AI researchers at every career stage, with £2 million per lab being set aside for hiring at least ten doctoral students. The government hopes that this will grow the UK’s talent in the field of AI. The labs are also expected to work closely with the leaders in British AI research, such as the Alan Turing Institute and UKRI’s AI research hubs. This will allow the various teams to collaborate and create new solutions faster than they could alone. This development is pretty interesting for a number of reasons, chiefly that it could create a long-term challenge for US tech firms if these labs successfully scale these open-source architectures that bypass the proprietary ecosystems. It could also give British businesses and public sector organizations access to AI features without paying high licensing fees to foreign providers or needing to invest in specialized server infrastructure.
    • If I were them, I'm gonna hold out until the prices of these semiconductor parts normalize. $1,049 for a ~5 year old hardware is DoA, more so for gamers. On a deeper note, if Steam Machine is priced like this, we are soo effed up for the next gen Xbox console and PS6. With great AAA titles releasing at the end of the year, this just creates more demand...and more tears for me. Lol.
    • I suspect one reason its hard to justify subsidising is that it's not a locked down device like a traditional console is. In this climate sadly if it was a "good deal" you'd get people hoarding them for anything but gaming. The Lenovo Legion Go 2 with the Ryzen Z2 Extreme is £1300 here ($1720) for some context on how other SteamOS like devices are now priced. I got the older Z1 Extreme model for £300 with a dock, just shows how insane prices have got recently.
