[Official] Batman: Arkham Asylum

did you get it @ Best Buy? Cause I did.. and I didn't get the free guide. Cause they said they had preorders to fill .. like wtf. anyway.. the dude told me to check by the end of the week. Best Buy will still honor the free guide. at least that's what he said -.- ugh. Anyway.. I"m having fun playing this. on several occasions I got stuck. I kept going back and forth.. soo frustrating.. then I see a door (which is soo damn concealed cause it blends soo well with the damn background.. ) I was like god damnit. lol.

No. I did check a local Best Buy today though to buy the game and it was sold out. I'm going to check this morning. As for your situation, that's a little odd. Walk-in customers are supposed to get priority over pre-order customers.

Copy didn't arrive today and I keep reading glowing praise everywhere :(

Well let me help you out, the game is terrible, a repetitive beat'em up that is only getting praises because the gaming scene is yet again as dry as a twig in the desert.

Go Go Sethos Flamesuit!

Sorry but I have to disagree with you.

I liked the demo so you don't need your flamesuit ;)

Interesting thing though is most reviews say you can't play the game as a beat-em-up because you'll be gunned down quickly. I watched a bit of 1UP game night last night and just like I found in the demo, you need to attack/retreat at points and plan out some lite stealth.

Wow, attack AND retreat? I'm so picking this up now!

I too, strongly disagree wit joo Sethos >.>

Oh it's on now, IT'S ON, C'MON!

( Sorry, in an odd mood - Want to annoy people >.> )

played about an hour, definitely a good game. the voice acting is awesome, the engine is crisp and solid, and the gameplay is fluid and easy to pick up. it's not the 9/10 the revs are saying, but close. it reminds me a lot of Dead Space and RE5 - great visuals, but the world is largely static, like a batarang won't smash through a coffee mug. seems only cameras and TV's break.

Not to be an arse but you've played an hour, my understanding is this games doing pretty well largely in thanks to the story being true to Batman lore, that's not something that unfolds that well within an hour :/

I'll be interested to hear back from you later on :p

Apparently BB wants to honor pre-order customers first. :s Did you manage to snag a copy of the guide?

That sucks. And no, I ended up going to EB Games to buy my copy (without the strategy guide). It was sold out everywhere else. I went to Future Shop, Best Buy, and Wal-Mart.

Pretty much dead on. There is no way you are just going to run and beat up everybody head on. Some areas feel like attack/retreat while others just feel like pure stealth. I'm past the first boss and I can safely say that there are many different fights you can approach in numerous ways.

Not a 10/10 for me but definitely at least a 9!

I just love sitting up on the gargoyles and ****ing with the prisoners. Doing the inverted take downs etc and making the rest of them panic. So much fun.

Haha. Yeah, I did that last night to a room full of thugs in the botanical gardens. Picked them off one by one and hung them from the gargoyles until all 7 of them were hanging there. I felt like such a bad ass, lol :p

audio, no need to stand up for the game, even after one hour it's apparent it's good. to me not as good as the reviews may say, but i'm not knocking it. we're still entitled to our opinions, no? besides give me a chance to fall for it, only started the campaign.

Sorry man, I think that it is more than a "beat'em up". At some points you have to do that, but you can't always just go in and kick some ass. You need to lay low sometimes because the guns really take a chunk from your health. I love hanging from the gargoyles and picking the guards off one by one.

The only issue I see is when I stealth kill someone from behind (R2 (crouch) + Triangle when behind the guard), if there someone right next to him with his back turned, they don't hear you. I am very surprised at that. :p

I really enjoyed the demo but is the full game really worth the full $60?

Well I bought it for $30 and a $10 gift card with it and I think that it is worth it for that price. $60 with no multi-player (yes I know it's not a game that can be made into multi-player) does not seem worth the $60, to me. Although it is a great game, I would buy it around $40.

omg.. wow.. I'm suprised I walked in and got a copy then. I didn't know they were sold out soo quick. But yeah meh.. it's just a strategy guide.. it's not like I'm gonna look at it at all to help me. Part of the dectective experience is to do the things yourself. Then you realize.. OHHHHH lol..

the voicework takes me back to used to when i watched the animated series when i was a kid. AMAZING GAME (Y) (Y). Only about an hour in but loving it so far. The graphics and presentation are second to none. Everyone should go out and play this game!

sorry heath, but mark hammil's voice is a lot better then yours when it comes to being the joker

    • If you have a TV in your living room, chances are you can probably just use the Steam Link app and play your huge PC in big picture mode, effectively giving you the Steam Machine experience to see if you'd actually like it. The good news is the Steam Machine can have it's drives upgraded. It has a USB-C 10Gbs port as well, so the 512GB drive could be quickly moved to an external enclosure and repurposed.
    • This machine could very well be a second gaming PC for their living room as a console experience. So we would have to assume their main PC exists as well; With that said, I have 10gb home network with a 2.5gigabit internet connection here so we tend to have more than enough speed to download games. However, we can't make use of the 10gb LAN using Steam's built in transfer tool because it always compresses transfers and that slows the transfer down to well below a standard gigabit port speeds, sometimes as slow as 200-300Mb/s transfers. While that's probably still faster than most internet connections anyway, if they'd fix the LAN transfer issue it'd be upto x5 faster even on a gigabit LAN, than simply dropping a 2.5gbe port on there with hopes of a few people having fast internet connections. There are solutions, work arounds, like using LANCache if you run a NAS... or simply copying the files over manually using a network share.
    • Samsung announces ultra-fast UFS 5.0 storage to supercharge mobile AI by Paul Hill Local AI models tend to run a lot more slowly than cloud services like Claude and Gemini; however, Samsung has just announced that it has developed its UFS 5.0 solution, which increases data transfer to speeds of 10.8GB/s, enabling faster storage and processing in mobile memory that has the potential to provide more optimal local AI experiences. Commenting on this development, Jangseok Choi, head of Memory Product Planning at Samsung Electronics, said: If you’ve tried local AI, you’ll know it can be quite slow, especially if using the larger parameter models. By developing this new solution, Samsung says that storage is evolving from just storing data to a core piece of infrastructure that supports AI computation, too. The Korean company said that UFS 5.0 integrates the latest embedded memory interface standard from JEDEC and achieves up to 10.8 gigabytes per second (GB/s) transfer speeds. Regarding write speeds, Samsung UFS 5.0 can reach 9.5 GB/s. Both the read and write speeds are twice as fast as those of the previous UFS 4.1 standard. Aside from being ideal for local AI, Samsung’s UFS 5.0 is more power efficient by 40% compared to UFS 4.1. Samsung achieved this by implementing innovations such as clock gating and multi-voltage technologies. UFS 5.0 is also ultra-compact at just 7.5mm x 13mm x 0.9mm; that is 16.7% smaller than UFS 4.1. The company said it will be bringing it to multiple devices in the future, including mobile, wearable, and extended reality.
    • A bit like the steamdeck, this probably isn't for you.
    • Gamers Nexus already did their review, and building your own will be faster and cheaper, so not very convincing.
