[Official] Batman: Arkham Asylum

Recommended Posts

I can't remember the name of it, but use the thing that you use to disable the electronic gates.

Finished the main story. What an awesome game. Now I just need to start on the challenges and get the rest of the Riddler puzzles.

I will go and try that now. :/ I went around the whole area 2-3 times looking for a tunnel or something, but I didn't find anything. :p

I just realized this game reminds me a lot of Bioshock. The design of the "inmates" are a lot like splicers. The feel of it and some of the level design. The collecting tapes. I wonder if the developers used it as an inspiration.

I just saw a review and heard Batman talk. Its great that they got the Kevin Conroy from the Batman cartoon in the 90's to do the voice and Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) for the Joker. I cant wait to get this on the PC.

It also has a few more 90's Batman alumni: Mark Hammill as the Joker, the actress that did Harley Quinn (don't know her name) and the creator of the 90's cartoon wrote the script. If you liked the 90's cartoon, you'll LOVE this!!

eh.. oh well.. I"m gonna probably gonna try and get it tommorow. If none, I"m not gonna go cry about it.. since I'm almost done the game anyway lol.

Get it if you can. (Y)

I don't really think you need it for the missions as they are self-explanatory on what you need to do and where to go. The only hard thing is getting all the Riddler's trophies, the arachnid thingies, and the Riddler's riddles. :p

What parts are in depth?

Perhaps, but I wouldn't know. I've yet to play the full game. As for the strategy guide, just about every part is in-depth. It does a good job at explaining the various things it explains (hehe).

Bought it this morning, went to Tesco at 6:30am. There was 2 copies for X360 and 1 copy for PS3, that all they had left???

So I got the PS3 version for the Joker DLC. I was surprised not many copies left at all, unless people went at midnight or something...

Wont get to play until later tonight :(

:p

It reminded me so much I've started playing Bioshock again.

Just played about an hour, loving this so far.

The joker is absolutely awesome :D Great voice acting and script.

Such a tease how some of the riddler trophies obviously can't be gotten until you unlock a new powerup/change something later then backtrack. I heard once the game is complete though it lets you free roam to finish collecting extras.

and make sure you BATARANG every set of those chattering teeth you find, it will make getting all the trophies alot easier at the end of the game!

OMG you telling me that's an achievement/trophy? :(

Called the summer dry season, it happens. :p

Not really m8, I've got a tone of games here that I haven't come close to finishing. This one just seems to keep calling me back. Maybe I'm out of my not playing so much faze :woot:

AudioBoxer yep once you finish it, you can free roam and collect everything you left behind..

and make sure you BATARANG every set of those chattering teeth you find, it will make getting all the trophies alot easier at the end of the game!

Thanks for the heads up I will do that when I start playing tonight.

    • UK funds £60M AI labs to challenge US tech dominance with open-source models by Paul Hill The UK government has awarded £60 million to Oxford University and University College London to help keep the country in the AI race by focusing on open-source, low-hardware alternatives. This is in stark contrast to the expensive, closed-source, and high-hardware-requirement models being created in the United States and elsewhere. The money will be shared among two new academic research labs over six years to help them redesign the fundamental mathematics and architectures of AI to help the UK reduce its reliance on a handful of US tech firms. Commenting on the development, AI Minister Kanishka Narayan said: Initially, the government planned to fund just one lab with a £40 million investment, but with this update, two labs will now get access to a larger pool of funds. The labs are expected to invest in the top AI researchers at every career stage, with £2 million per lab being set aside for hiring at least ten doctoral students. The government hopes that this will grow the UK’s talent in the field of AI. The labs are also expected to work closely with the leaders in British AI research, such as the Alan Turing Institute and UKRI’s AI research hubs. This will allow the various teams to collaborate and create new solutions faster than they could alone. This development is pretty interesting for a number of reasons, chiefly that it could create a long-term challenge for US tech firms if these labs successfully scale these open-source architectures that bypass the proprietary ecosystems. It could also give British businesses and public sector organizations access to AI features without paying high licensing fees to foreign providers or needing to invest in specialized server infrastructure.
    • If I were them, I'm gonna hold out until the prices of these semiconductor parts normalize. $1,049 for a ~5 year old hardware is DoA, more so for gamers. On a deeper note, if Steam Machine is priced like this, we are soo effed up for the next gen Xbox console and PS6. With great AAA titles releasing at the end of the year, this just creates more demand...and more tears for me. Lol.
    • I suspect one reason its hard to justify subsidising is that it's not a locked down device like a traditional console is. In this climate sadly if it was a "good deal" you'd get people hoarding them for anything but gaming. The Lenovo Legion Go 2 with the Ryzen Z2 Extreme is £1300 here ($1720) for some context on how other SteamOS like devices are now priced. I got the older Z1 Extreme model for £300 with a dock, just shows how insane prices have got recently.
