[Official] Batman: Arkham Asylum

Recommended Posts

Thanks bud. Yea whichever I end up grabbing first, I'll definitely own both these great titles down the road. Im sure I can find Uncharted 1 at a good price somewhere by then as well.

Once again, I appreciate your feedback. (Y)

I definitely wouldn't play Uncharted 2 without playing Uncharted (N)

Therefore if you're only getting one game right now, go with Batman, then buy UC/UC2 together later down the line.

Got some bad news for North American Xbox360 users.

Second DLC Pack for Batman: Arkham Asylum Revealed

Exclusive to PlayStation 3 in North America. Available for Xbox 360 in Europe.

by Jim Reilly

September 23, 2009 - Eidos revealed details this morning for the second downloadable map pack for Batman: Arkham Asylum, "Prey in the Darkness."

Players are given two new challenge maps, 'Heart of Darkness,' which focuses taking on wave after wave of Joke goons in hand-to-hand combat, and, 'Hothouse Prey,' a map that requires a more stealthy approach.

The content will be available free starting tomorrow, September 24, but there is one important point to mention. The content is exclusive to PlayStation 3 in North America. It's available for the Xbox 360, as well as PlayStation 3, in Europe.

Update: An Eidos rep re-confirmed the DLC region exclusivity. We're following up with Microsoft to see why the content is not coming to North America for Xbox 360.

Wow now that is some serious bull****. I'm sure someone will find out a way around that.

**** Sony.

Alright, let's all say **** you to Sony, but then when MICROSOFT does the EXACT same ****ing thing with other games everyone says "That's business for ya."

Example: GTA DLC. I see no one from the Microsoft camp crying NOR do I see anyone from the Sony camp saying "**** Microsoft". When the tables are turned for you then you start moaning.

Well let me say this then, when you get exclusive DLC don't act like its fair for everyone, but when you don't its not fair.

?????

Funny, I don't remember saying GTA IV's DLC was okay. I guess you mistook me for a fanboy because of my signature. Good job there.

Don't you love double standards?

Its ok for GTA4's DLC to be exclusive, but its not for Batman's DLC.

The difference between this DLC and others is that all gamers were told this would arrive on both consoles, whereas that exclusive content was from the beginning console exclusive. Weeks after announcing the content, it is now coming into light that Americans cannot have this content, while Europeans can. If they had said this before hand, I would have understood, just as I understood the Joker DLC.

Anyway, I'm tempted to make a UK gamer tag, but I hear Microsoft watches this kind of stuff and you can get banned from breaking their ToS. Too bad.

BTW, should I make a Kanye West GTA 4/Batman DLC?

IMO there is no excuse for exclusive DLC, doesn't matter if it's announced 378 months before a game comes out, the moral behind a multiplatform game is your willingness to support multiple platforms with that game and that should carry over to anything related to that game. If your releasing your game on multiple platforms, ****ing support it on multiple platforms.

I'll always say some random ass exclusive skins/recolouring of textures is okay, or maybe stretching as far as Soul Calibur with Yoda 360/Darth Vader PS3 exclusive (at least both platforms get something). None of that inane "We have no plans" BS that turns into 360 days later "OH HAI GUYZ 1 YEAR IS UP DLC COMING TO YOUZ THIS WEEK".

Cockblocking game changing content is a pile of ****.

As long as the fanboys keep lapping it up and acting like it's good for the industry the devs will keep accepting those pay cheques.

Absolutely the worst thing about this generation IMO, probably even worse than hardware failures, yeah, I went there.

Yeah I own all the platforms, but what happens if the Joker DLC was 360 exclusive yet I was getting Batman PS3 for ?23 (like I did). Or if most of my friends played COD MW2 on the 360 but the PS3 gets the timed exclusive maps.

I mean, timed exclusive maps? WTF?

I get so angry about exclusive DLC, the games industry has fallen upon dark times as it's becoming ruled by people that seemingly have more of an interest in stock holders than the passion of gaming. Don't give me the "people need to make money" nonsense, create good games and support them and you'll make money.

Sad thing is it's a viscous circle, there isn't one source to blame, multiple people are doing it which then spurs on others to try and counteract losing out on content by going after other deals...

I never said that you were a fanboy. I said YOU never say "**** Microsoft" because they have exclusive DLC, but when Sony does you say "**** Microsoft".

Exclusive DLC is ****. I hate it and its the most stupidest thing EVER. Exclusive games I understand, but DLC does not allow everyone to get the same love for it.

Meh. Challenge maps & skins, shooter maps, etc. isn't game changing. The only DLC I've really gotten bent out of shape about was the Tomb Raider DLC (continued the story from the game, felt like the game I would have bought was incomplete) and Fallout 3 (Broken Steel changes the way the vanilla game can be played with the level cap being lifted) -- obviously I'm over the F3 now that it's out for PS3.

GTA4 - Not game changing, but would be fun. The game I bought was complete, since the DLC doesn't necessarily add to Niko's story.

Bioshock - PS3 challenge rooms aren't game changing, tho they are kinda fun.

Mirror's Edge - IIRC, it's only one map or something

etc. etc. etc.

There really is nothing to get worked up about here, I just found it odd that he commented **** Sony since, as has been pointed out, this is something MS has done all generation to get game/console sales (and XBLA royalty sales).

AB, don't get so erked that people don't want to take your money. lol.

I explained the difference. We were told previously it was coming to us, then they took it away. I had no problem with the original DLC being PS3 exclusive because it was announced as exclusive. Do you not see the difference in this?

Honestly, I had no idea, but from the sounds of it, there's plenty of DLC coming down the pipe for both systems.

yeah but haven't finished those yet, still doing them. do they count too? also how to use the joker ? i dld and installed the joker dlc on the ps3 but cant use it

Challenge maps count towards the 100%. When you load your file, at the bottom there should be a box with your progress telling you how far you've completed.

Note that only the challenges unlocked from within the game count towards the 100%. Downloaded challenge maps do not count towards the 100%.

Also, you can only use the Joker in the challenge maps. Can't use him in the game.

Well you can, just not for very long.

    • I've owned nothing but ATi/AMD GPUs since 2002, after my last nVidia GPU in 2001 (3dfx before that), IIRC, and in all of that time I recall getting this error maybe once, certainly no more than twice. Despite all the scuttlebutt as to how poor AMD drivers are supposed to be that has certainly not been my experience at all... Usually it has been a configuration problem of some kind. Then again, since we're dealing with OS versions that are EOL, it could easily be an OS version discrepancy. It's still weird to think that Win11 has been officially out for more than five years!
    • AI will never be the jobs panacea some companies fantasize about today. Oracle is likely using it as an excuse, which we will see a lot of companies doing, I'm certain. They love their "plausible" excuses for their downturns. A couple of weeks ago my wife asked me to call Krogers about some discrepancy in a online grocery order, and it will be the last time either of us does that. I'll just do emails with humans from now on... The AI experience was horrible--the obviously recorded voice started asking a bunch of questions about our orders six months prior(!) and saying, "Is this in reference to your order on January 6, for $****?" You say "No!" and immediately the next question is "Is this in reference to your order on January 29th, for $****?" again, I answered "No!"--and it was incredible--on and on it went like that for fully 20 minutes until we finally got to the present, and only then was I put through to a human with authentic intelligence... I wondered why on Earth the idiot AI didn't start with the most recent orders and work back from there, as it was something anyone with a functioning brain would have done. And why didn't the AI have enough sense to ask me what the problem was in the first place? It didn't take too much deduction to understand that the goal of this "AI" was to cause the person on the phone to hang up in disgust, with no resolution of the problem. That begs another question: why pay for a tool-free problem line if the goal is to avoid solving your customer's problems?... Fortunately, Krogers does have real humans capable of reading an email and understanding it, and if she sees another situation in the future that's route she or I will take. The online grocery delivery service from Krogers has been great, over all, but their AI truly sucks.
    • AI is the justification that company administrators use to lay people off; it is not the end all, be all touted in the media (many of whom can't tell a microchip from a potato chip). Greed is main driving factor behind its adoption; the other is remaining relevant in the face of competition from other entities.
    • Firefox 152.0.2 is out with fixes for performance, translation, and cloud storage services by Taras Buria A new bug-fixing update is now rolling out to Firefox users in the Release Channel. Less than a week ago, Mozilla fixed crashes on Intel Raptor Lake processors with version 152.0.1. Now, Mozilla has prepared yet another set of fixes that address problems with localization, playback issues of certain MP4 files, and performance issues on website that perform various encryption operations at once. Here is the full changelog: Firefox 152.0.2 is now available for download from Mozilla's FTP. Existing installations will get the update over the next several hours. The latest version will also be available soon on the official website, the Microsoft Store, and Neowin's Software page. You can find Firefox 152.0.2 release notes in the official documentation. In case you missed it, Mozilla released Firefox 152 earlier this month. The latest feature update brought reworked settings with a more streamlined user interface, JPEG XL support, new features for Private mode, a new way to mute a tab (just type "mute" in the address bar), and many more. You can find the complete changelog here. In other Firefox news, Mozilla recently published its roadmap, where the company detailed the upcoming Nova redesign and other features it plans to implement. Mozilla wants to make the new user interface easier to navigate and more modern, with a heavy focus on its privacy tools, such as its built-in VPN. If you are curious, you can already enable the new UI as described here.
