Indie Game: The Movie

Very good documentary actually, and the fact it is about my favorite past time really makes it incredibly interesting.

The filmmakers really picked the game creators that they focused on brilliantly as well, all very much "characters," and the viewer winds up developing pretty strong feelings about their characteristics really early on, so you are then invested in seeing their progress, both positive and negative, throughout the movie. Just really well done actually. Typing it out, it is exactly all of the elements that make a documentary following the making of something successful.

Highly recommended to anyone who has an interest in video games.

Strongly recommended to anyone who has played either Braid, Super Meat Boy, or Fez, as it is the 3 games they follow.

Funny enough, I truly was into Super Meat Boy when it was released. I was one of the people the film actually touches upon who purchased it Day 1.

After seeing the film, I now love Super Meat Boy. Just such an interesting team behind making it, and easily the most likeable developers of the movie.

8.5/10

Have off from work today, and since my wife does not have much interest in it, going to do a solo trip to the movie theater and go check out Brave in 3D. Hoping it continues the Pixar tradition. Will report back in about 4 hours or so if it does.

hit me up later today. Id like to hear your thoughts. The first review I read gave it 6/10 stars which surprises me a bit for a Pixar film.

Brave - 8/10

Thought it was a damn good movie.

Since I am pretty critical on movies, I do have a few things to note that I think detracted from it slightly. But overall I have so many more positives...

The (pretty much only) Bad

The biggest issue I have is the music that was used in a few scenes. It was those scenes that have no dialogue really and show a sequence of events in order to progress the story. The music was just cheesy. Had vocals in it, a famous Scottish women signer apparently, so it was trying to be that traditional Gaelic type music but with a modern twist on it. Just seemed to detract from the movie instead of enhance it. Felt really forced, to the point it was clearly used as the type of music they are hoping will sell the soundtrack of have little girls and disney moms singing along to it in their soccer mom caravans.

The Good

Everything else was pretty much fantastic. The characters were great. The always present Pixar humor for the adults was definitely there. The overall message was as always a positive "life lesson" one. The animation and visuals, as expected, top notch. Just a damn good movie all around.

About The 3D

I did see it in 3D, but it was an older 3D theater, not a modern one. So the issue of dark scenes being extra dark in 3D because the projector is not the type that should be used when digital 3D is displayed really did make some scenes incredibly dark. Would not have even been anything to note if not for the fact a decent amount of the movie actually takes place at night, so there are a lot of scenes that are in the dark actually. But that obviously has nothing to do with the movie itself, but just worth noting for people who might also be seeing it in older theaters that do 3D.

The Short Before The Movie

LaLuna_RGB.jpg

La Luna was the short before Brave, and it was really, really good. Totally cute, but not in a cheesy way at all. Just the way the characters talk is hilarious, and it was maybe 10 minutes long if that, but told a nice little story about the importance of family. Definitely make sure to make it in time to watch it as well. (Y)

Again, just a damn good movie overall.

The trailers IIRC were Finding Nemo 3D re-release, Monsters University, new Ice Age, and the little Despicable Me trailer were the little yellow guys are just singing. Oh yeah, apparently the short before the new Ice Age movie is going to be a short that features Maggie from The Simpsons. Was a super quick teaser, literally just a still poster with a voice over, but got me excited to see it.

Unlike other download managers and accelerators, Internet Download Manager segments downloaded files dynamically during download process, and it reuses available connections without additional connect and login stages to achieve the best possible acceleration performance. Comprehensive error recovery and resume capability will restart broken or interrupted downloads due to lost connections, network problems, computer shutdowns, or unexpected power outages. All popular browsers are supported IDM integrates seamlessly into Google Chrome, FireFox, Microsoft Edge, Opera, Safari, Internet Explorer, Maxthon and all other popular browsers to automatically handle your downloads. You can also drag and drop files, or use Internet Download Manager from command line. The program supports proxy servers, ftp and http protocols, firewalls, redirects, cookies, authorization, MP3 audio and video content processing. IDM includes web site spider and grabber IDM downloads all required files that are specified with filters from web sites, for example all pictures from a web site, or subsets of web sites, or complete web sites for offline browsing. It's possible to schedule multiple grabber projects to run them once at a specified time, stop them at a specified time, or run periodically to synchronize changes. Easy downloading with one click When you click on a download link in a browser, IDM will take over the download and accelerate it. • I am not a US citizen nor a Trump fan. Respect to both left and right. But I will, for the sake of fun, predict something for my own. There will come a day when the US and China will collide like titans ( over Taiwan or anything else ). Then, on that day, some people in this comment section will realize how good an idea it was to become independent in areas like that. ( Or atleast try )
    • Microsoft Edge gets tons of security features, including AI model that can see your screen by Usama Jawad Microsoft Edge may not be the most popular browser out there, but it does receive quite frequent updates that sometimes bring surprising new features and axe others that are not as popular. Now, Microsoft has detailed some of the new security enhancements that it has introduced in Edge for Business, typically used by commercial customers. Microsoft has emphasized that security features are baked into Edge for Business and offer native integration with security and governance tools like Defender and Purview. Browser sessions are governed by default on managed devices but can also be governed through dedicated work profiles on unmanaged devices. An important aspect in this area is controlling the use of shadow AI. We have talked about this before, but it essentially restricts employees from using unsanctioned AI apps through data loss prevention (DLP) policies, with Edge redirecting them to trusted AI services like Microsoft 365 Copilot. This feature, available as a pay-as-you-go (PAYG) license, ensures that confidential data never exits AI boundaries set by your organization in Purview. Additionally, Microsoft also has strong DLP policies for contractors. Contractors leveraging a Entra ID-joined work profile provisioned by their contracting company on a device managed by their actual employer can be restricted from downloading files locally. In such scenarios, the file is saved on the contracting firm's OneDrive rather than being downloaded locally. Another useful Edge security feature disallows copying and pasting from unmanaged locations and apps. Similarly, DLP policies can be configured at a granular level to restrict screenshots or downloading of files from certain locations. In the same vein, IT admins can block the installation of extensions, hosted apps, themes and scripts, and control if users can install extensions from external locations. They can also enable the installation of specific extensions and allow users to request access to certain extensions, so that they can be managed on a case-by-case basis. Finally, Edge for Business now has an on-device AI model that uses computer vision to see what's on your screen and block potentially malicious content immediately. This does not rely on site reputation, as it simply monitors what is being displayed on your screen, which means that it is effective against malicious content that takes over your screen and employs scareware tactics. Since this is an on-device AI model, it does use your system's resources, so it's enabled by default only on devices with at least 2GB of RAM and four CPU cores. You can find more details in the Microsoft Mechanics video here.
