[Official] Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

I would be upset if the previous Dedicated Server debacle hadn't pushed me to cancel my preorders.

Too bad noone will learn their lesson from this. Activision is conducting a biased litmus test by placing their highest profile game in this situation ($60, no Custom content, no Customization period) and seeing if the enormous control and profit from this lockdown is worth the ill-will this will bring upon them.

People will still buy this game like hotcakes, and the painful cycle will continue on and on and on.

Of course if many dont buy the game then they will just leave the PC market altogether. So youre screwed either way. Catch 22.

Ok this is interesting, Best Buy Canada just updated it's new flyer.. now it doesn't even mention the free $10 gift card. Although it does say that the first 75 lined up people will recieve a free MONSTER energy drink (4pack) and it also states that each BB store has a minimum of 10 Prestige versions (@ $169.99 not sure if it's including preorders X_X). So I'd say if you really want that Prestiege version.. you better quickly pre-order it before Monday. So just letting all the Canadians for the heads up.

For me, I"m just too poor to get the Prestiege.. gonna just pick up he normal version.. I still can't justify paying for almost $200 a game. Yes I know it has the NVGs.. but I'm probably not going to use it anyway, it'd be an awesome piece of work, but just can't afford it.

I believe that is the case on PS3, but 360 and PC will be missing hardcore for certain gametypes. I honestly can't remember and it's to tough to find the info again with all the other MW2 hate going on.

WHAT!?

WHAT!?

that seems to be the general gist of things happening... look at http://kotaku.com/5397735/announcing-the-r...odern-warfare-2 , for instance

-Wednesday, November 11: The Kotaku Game Club for Modern Warfare kicks off, with a post that will kick off a discussion about the game's first three levels. Those levels... and nothing else. So please try not to play past that, as hard as that will be. (Play multiplayer instead or something).

at this rate, modern warfare 2 belongs more in the media room than it does in the gamers hangout...

You can't use party talk in hardcore TDM? Seriously? Wtf Infinity Ward. The idea is stupid in the first place but HC TDM should have party chat at least ffs.

:p

Just tried this online in mercs TDM and...

For Christ sake. It's fantastic. **** you IW. **** you for taking everything that makes my PC unique then making an excellent MP shooter.

I'm enjoying it, loads of unlocks. For instance:

- 22 pages of titles (you get for various things like getting the most stabs in a round or cutting the most people down on a kill streak)

- 7 pages of emblems

- Loads of challenges for weapons

- For perks

- For secondary weapons

- For using your equipment

The weapons are balanced so far, even the death streaks are reasonable, painkiller is only for the initial respawn for example. Talking of weapons secondary weapons now cover: Shotguns, Machine pistols, handguns and launchers. Which is nice because those twats who try to melee me get a mouthwash of buckshot each time they try. To top that off. Almost every secondary weapon has further unlocks like a tac knife so you can stab faster etc.

You also get rewarded for EVERYTHING. Kill someone, get XP, kill someone on a streak, get XP, die a lot and get a kill, get XP. Like the SP, it's a very slick version of MW.

Edit: The maps, oh the maps. They are vast, small, varied, open, closed. I've got a crush on their maps designers at the moment. Jesus I'm gushing about MW2. ARGH.

Edit II: Forgot to mention, you'll love this, you only get... 1 nade/semtex/knife per spawn! So there is no more spawn nade spamming! You do get two special nades though! :D

The guy used his real name of Craigslist and provided the same email across Facebook/Craigslist/etc. Impressive story but such a dumb criminal!

Edit: Thanks for the update without really any spoilers, I really appreciate it Spookie! I'm glad to hear that the designers didn't f up the maps like they did for Halo 3 (in my opinion). Halo 2 had nice small to medium sized maps but then all Halo 3 feels like it has is insanely huge maps. My dislike for huge maps is because of how bad they slow the combat down/game overall.

God damn it!! No hardcore domination AGAIN! Domination was the best mode alongside Headquarters.

WOO HOOO! :D Gotta go collect mine from Parcelforce Norwich tomorrow :D God i'm happy! :D

I don't think Parcelforce are going to release them until Monday for delivery, unless they already carded you.

Although I guess its worth a try!.

Just Pre-Purchased the game on Steam despite all the hate the PC version is getting! Thing is I have no problem with the matchmaking system on the consoles, so the way I see it I'm just getting the 360 version but I get anti-aliasing and I'm able to use mouse and keyboard, plus I only paid ?35 rather than the ?40+ I would've paid for the console version.

I can't wait for this game!

I'll be waiting for your review of the IW.Net beta test before I spend one cent on this game. I'm OK with using Steam groups to game with friends, it's the connection speed that I'm worried about.

For some reason when I think of MW2 and the 360 port I get a vision of Halo 2 for PC and the laggy mess MP was there.

    • A different thing with Russia. When you say is it better, depends on things. It is better that we don't have the E.U making rules and laws that have nothing to do with them. Is the trading part better? No, that is really mucked up, but then we knew that was going to happen and we would have make agreements, like we do with other parts of the world. Freedom of movement is certainly better, but could be improved, we still need more control over our borders. do you live in the U.K?
    • So what am I quoting from them? I never listened to what Farage or his cronies said. I wanted the U.K to leave the E.u years before the referendum and it had nothing to do with Farage and his cronies. So what country do you live in? Did we work much better together? We were always at logger heads with the E.U because we disagreed with them so much. Maggie was always on at them. I would have thought the E.U was glad to get rid of us as we stopped the integration or made it a two tier. Now without us they can integrate more. I would not have voted out if it was just a trading block and we can still work together on somethings.

    • Apple reportedly looks to blacklisted Chinese memory chips as RAM prices climb by Karthik Mudaliar Image via Apple Apple is reportedly trying to get a clearance from the Trump administration to buy memory from ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) to get some relief from soaring DRAM prices. As per a report by the Financial Times, Apple approached the Commerce Department more than a month ago and also spoke to other officials and allies in Washington. For starters, CXMT is a company that's already been placed on the Pentagon's list of Chinese military companies. The Chinese company is the country's top DRAM maker. For Apple, the timing is certainly awkward but not surprising. Tim Cook had recently warned that Apple would have to raise prices because AI companies are buying up large amounts of memory for data centers, and just like that, Apple raised MacBook and iPad prices. Micron also recently revealed that customers have committed billions of dollars to secure memory supply years in advance, which shows us how aggressive securing infrastructure has become. This gives suppliers such as Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron more leverage, while pushing hardware makers to look for alternatives. CXMT is one of those alternatives, but not the simplest one. Apple has spent many years trying to diversify parts of its supply chain away from China, especially for final assembly, while still depending heavily on Chinese manufacturing and suppliers. Even domestic brands from China are moving towards CXMT and YMTC instead of relying on Samsung, Micron, and SK Hynix. For Apple, though, it would invite more scrutiny than local Chinese companies. For now, this is more like a lobbying effort rather than a confirmed supply deal. There's no official statement from either of the parties. What is clearer, though, is the pressure behind such a request. AI demand has certainly made hardware a bottleneck, and companies are trying everything they can to bring things back to normal, even if that means making politically sensitive choices. • I did test it a month or so back, but ... the results I expect to be on the first page are not there.
