love the new msn messenger 6...however anyone have any idea on how i can replace the butterfly msn messenger icon in the system tray with the original windows messenger system tray icon. a step by step tutorial would would be appreciated. thx guys

google resource hacker...download it..then open up the msn messenger with it...go to change icon...search..its under a tab..only a few there..change it with the one you have there...

Is there anything just to get rid of the stupid tabs on the left pane for MSN6? I find I NEVER EVER use those stupid tabs to begin wit\' UTTERLY USELESS. I can use that extra space horizontally for the stupid ignorant people that make long ass names that stretch across the screen. Any help appreciated.

yeah there is a way.

goto to Tools > Options > Privacy > click on " This is a shared computer so don't display my tabs"

so many icons to pilfer through...im not exactly sure which icon resource to change after studying it a bit. anyone have any other suggestion on just removing the butterfly from the system tray icon? ste by step would be cool. thx

what? i suggest go check it out, they have had that since 0.7x or earlier. They call it "containers" which allow you to put n chats in one window and easily switch between them.

It's the only missing feature that msn messenger would need to make trillian and plus obsolete to me

use resource hacker...open up msnmsgr.exe...then find and replace that icon that looks like the one in the sytem tray...replace with the one you have..sorry if my instructions are too vague...

Hello Dwergs, I'm Patchou, the guy that do Messenger Plus!"

dwergs says:

Since the official Messenger Plus! forums are down and a lot of people are concerned about the compatibility of Plus! with MSN Messenger 6.0, Patchou asked us to get the following message out to the community:

"I'm working all day long on Messenger 6 compatibility and, even if an important part of Messenger Plus! must be coded again, the project is progressing well. There WILL be a Messenger 6 compatible version released within a month and normally, all the current features will work the same way as in Messenger 5. I could release it sooner but I want the next version to have several new exciting features. I hope you'll all be pleased by what you'll see."

p.s however mess.be is going under some server changes...you may not be able to access it within the next 48 hours...and patchou rox0r...he the man.. :)

    • Any so called performance increase will be in milliseconds, which nobody will actually notice in real world usage.
    • All it does is use the CPU more efficiently during boot to speed up boot times. That's it. Yawn....
    • It's not a one or the other kind of thing. Software should run efficiently, and the operating system should appropriately manage the CPU clocks. You could have the best most optimized software on earth, and it will still run faster if the CPU does a better job of boosting as needed. All this is doing is pre-boosting the CPU based on user actions, instead of waiting for the normal detection mechanism to kick in. If the OS knows it is about to need more CPU, why shouldn't it use that knowledge? It's the same idea of downshifting before passing someone, instead of just burying your foot into the peddle and waiting for the transmission to figure out what you want to do.

    • There really isn't anything magical about the low latency profile, other OS's do this as well. All they're doing is using your CPUs boost clock options in a more smarter way.
