The Walking Dead (Season 2)

Good episode tonight. I can't believe they let it end like that

(Rick Grimes' son getting shot)

though. Now I can't wait for next week's episode.

I'm kinda thinking Merle shot Rick's son as revenge for Rick leaving Merle behind to die. What do you think?

Its a good hypothesis, but was Merle capable of following the group for such a long time? Since we haven't heard from him since a long time ago, I think it might be a long shot. I think the person who shot the deer and Rick's son is one of the new characters of the season. And I want to know where the heck is Sophia, I thought we would at least know where she was by the end of the episode.

I really liked the new episode, I did feel a little bit let down but I know I had my expectations set way to high so I can't complain. However while watching it I did suddenly realise how drawn out things are in a TV show compared to a movie, I know thats pretty obvious but had never though about it before :p

If you don't like it, jog on.

Sick of people saying "omg too much drama" to every fricking show, not every show has to be over the top ridiculous action set pieces, guns, explosions, etc..

The point of the show is the drama of humans surviving a zombie apocalypse, not every episode can be action action action action. Id prefer an episode full of story than an episode full of mindless violence.

I think the people that feel it's too drama-ish need to consider the psychological parts of a zombie apocalypse. It's not a video game where you mow down as many zombies as possible; it's about survival both from the walkers and from/for each other. I think the drama adds to the suspense of the show. Just ask yourself 'what would I do in this situation?' I'm sure not to many people could hold it together in a setting such as that.

I think some of you are missing the point of some of those saying there is "too much drama". It's not that there is TOO much drama. It is that the drama that is there is caused by the characters being incredibly retarded and making stupid decisions.

True, the show is based off of a comic book, but that doesn't excuse the poor logic loop holes. The show should be and absolutely needs to be about the people and their reactions to the situation. That makes for great TV. However, the human drama is only good if it's believable. If it were just a mindless zombie killing show made by George Romero, then it would be boring.

    • Google Gemini co-lead Noam Shazeer is leaving for OpenAI by Pradeep Viswanathan Noam Shazeer is best known as one of the co-authors of the 2017 “Attention Is All You Need” paper, which introduced the Transformer architecture that now powers most large language models. He also worked on several major Google AI projects, including LaMDA, before leaving the company in 2021 to co-found Character.AI. He also authored the Sparsely-gated Mixture of Experts (2016) paper, which is popular among the AI community. After falling behind OpenAI and Anthropic a couple of years ago, Google brought Shazeer back in 2024 as part of a major deal with Character.AI. Through this deal, along with Noam, several other researchers returned to Google DeepMind. More recently, he was a vice president of engineering at Google and a technical co-lead for Gemini. Today, Noam Shazeer announced on X that he is leaving Google and joining OpenAI. In his post, Shazeer said it was a difficult decision to move on, adding that he was proud of the Google team and what it had built together. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman welcomed the move with a post of his own, saying Shazeer was one of the people he had most wanted to work with since OpenAI’s early days. Google has made strong progress with Gemini over the past year, closing the gap with OpenAI in several areas. But losing Noam Shazeer is a major talent setback for them, especially after bringing him back less than two years ago by spending a fortune. For OpenAI, the hire adds one of the industry’s most experienced language model researchers to a team that is already pushing ahead with ChatGPT, Codex, and its next generation of frontier models.
