The Walking Dead (Season 2)

The tension between Rick and Shane has been building up for awhile now. And it looks like Rick is going to make the first move (all thanks to his wife). Does anyone else hate Andrea? She seems to think that she knows it all. I really don't like how she supports Shane and I wouldn't be surprised if it gets her killed.

18 miles is a great episode. Really feel sorry for Randall. Its quite amazing how he can drive so well despite having just recover from the horrific injury to his leg.

And I thought asking shane to escape through the backdoor was very bad idea. It might have been jammed or something.

You only really need one leg to drive an automatic, and it's not as if there's a lot of stop/start traffic jams :p

I like the fact that they're making Carl slowly turn into a psychopath due to the fact that he is growing up in a zombie apocalypse and knows no life before z-day (almost). I think that will continue to be really interesting material for the show later on.

What I don't like is the writers killing off one of the best characters on the show and leaving worthless ones like T-dog or that random guy that is not part of the original group or part of Hershel's family. He was like some boy that Hershel knew from town or something. These two characters add nothing to the story and have had almost zero dialogue this entire season. It would have been much better to get rid of one of them instead.

There are (were, I guess now) much more interesting stories to tell with

Dale, Shane, the group. Dale has always been interesting character to watch when paired with Shane because of their philosophical differences in how to act in their current situation.

Now the show lost one of the better causes of drama and we're still stuck with useless background characters

I'll throw in my couple of cents. I spoiler tag it so I don't get yelled at.

During the whole meetup when they were determining what to do with Randall, Dale was the only adamant person about not killing him. He mentioned that Glenn was against it but, Glenn never spoke up. The argument just kept going in circles, no one gave an alternative what to do. I felt that maybe subconsciously they wanted to eliminate Dale, because he didn't conform to the group. It just so happened that Swampy made it to the farm and got Dale. It was kind of like a way out for the group.

This episode just annoyed me... I guess it was the fact that the whole episode one was big bitchoff fest, with very little action. The first scene caught my attention, then it just fell down hill until the end, where you see one of the most intriguing characters die. I really hope they do something that totally blows me away next episode, because I felt let down by this one.

Everything that happened was just so obvious as well. I think that Rick should have shot the hostage just as the son walked in... that would have made for a much better tension and uneasiness between him, his actions, and what should really be done. But we will see next episode I guess.

The episode was great but I didn't like the ending. Why in the world did they have to

kill Dale?

Do you guys not remember that Rick and Shane found out that even a scratch can make you a walker? Right before they killed Dale they mentioned not having him suffer. Even if he wasn't going to be infected, the doctor of the group even motioned that he wasn't going to live through it.

Also, Glenn did speak up and actually said he disagreed with Dale.

About Carl.. I really feel Rick and his wife suck at raising him. I can understand developing a vengeful attitude, but they don't talk to him at all. He's just left to his own thoughts without his parents giving context to what's going on. No one is ever watching him so he just wanders into the shed to watch them kill Randall. Carl doesn't even think that it's wrong to blurt out "kill him". He's completely detached and it's because they suck as parents.

If they were going to let the kid live, they've gone far past that working out. They've essentially been torturing him by constantly trying to kill him, just to have rick puss out at the last second every time. After going through all this **** there is no way the kid wouldn't try and get back to his old group, and he sure as hell wouldn't trust the farm group. They can't let him go, and keeping him prisoner in the barn indefinitely is hardly any more humane than killing him.

As much as I dislike shane, he was right to want to get rid of the kid earlier.

What caught my attention is when Carl snuck in the barn and Randall was talking to him. Randall said that he could take them back to his group of 30+ people. So, Randall knows where to find his group and the danger is now more than a slim chance that he finds the group. What I hate about Carl is he's too stupid/rebellious he doesn't even tell his parents about his conversation with Randall.

Also, is there a need to black out the spoilers we have in this thread? I haven't bothered since I would think anyone who cares about the show would be watching it...

    • If they ever come out and say the AI is no longer accessible to the gen pop people aren't going to know how to tie their own shoelaces.
    • It's hard not to when they are shoehorning Ai into EVERYTHING. Some are active users by choice, I bet a lot of them are because it's shoved in their face the entire time.

    • Nearly half of American adults now use AI, but concerns are also growing by Hamid Ganji Since the launch of ChatGPT in 2022, the way people research, get their news, and perform routine tasks has changed dramatically. Now, almost everything around us has a touch of AI, and companies are trying to embed it into nearly every product and service they offer. With that in mind, new research shows how Americans are actually adopting this change and using AI in their everyday lives. According to new research conducted by the Pew Research Center, 49% of American adults now use AI chatbots like ChatGPT or Gemini. This marks a significant increase over last year, when only 33% of American adults reported using AI. Additionally, four in ten U.S. adults (42%) said they use AI tools to research information, while 38% said they use these tools to handle tasks at work. Entertainment, image and video editing, and getting medical advice are among the other ways Americans are using AI. Moreover, ChatGPT dominates the U.S. AI market, with 44% of respondents saying they use OpenAI's chatbot. Gemini follows at 24%, while Copilot and Meta AI account for 17% and 14%, respectively. Respondents also said that AI chatbots generally have a positive impact on their productivity and how informed they are. But when it comes to AI’s impact on society, Americans remain largely skeptical. About 40% of American adults believe AI will be more harmful than beneficial to society over the next 20 years. Additionally, 31% expect AI to have a negative effect on them personally. Another 31% of respondents say AI could be equally positive and negative. As for data security, pessimism remains high: 71% of respondents say AI will make their personal information less secure, while only 3% believe it will make their data more secure. American adults also largely lack confidence in both the government and AI companies when it comes to regulating and developing AI. About 67% of Americans have little to no confidence in the U.S. government’s ability to regulate AI effectively. Six in ten adults are also not confident that U.S. companies will develop and use these tools responsibly.
