(Spork)
The FCC will be voting next week on whether to undertake a "broad inquiry into wireless industry practices" at an agency meeting next week, reports Bloomberg News. According to FCC watchers, the inquiry would delve into how AT&T and Verizon, who together control 60% of the wireless market, have engaged in anti-competitive practices. Of course the obvious questions will be whether the carriers colluded to artificially jack up the price of text messages and other services, and whether consumer interest is harmed by the use of exclusive handset deals. Of course the agency is also interested in Apple and AT&T's banning of Google Voice from the iPhone application store -- a fairly obvious anti-competitive action by any measuring stick. linky

Dave_teh_Tech
It really doesn't surprise me that the FCC is taking some action against both Verizon and AT&T. I use to work for VZW, and AT&T is their main competitor and they are always bashing on each-other. It's just dirty advertising.
