Fedor Emelianenko fights undefeated Brett Rogers in Strikeforce debut

Recommended Posts

Notice that Fedor and Gegard has fought against the best international fighters, while Anderson Silva, GSP, and Brock Lesnar has mainly fought against local American fighters. Also notice that Anderson Silva in his international excursions hasn’t fared to well and has lost against three Japanese fighters out of the four fighters outside North/South America he has fought. Just because American fight fans are unfamiliar with the fighter (as is the case with non UFC/international fighters) does not mean that they are not good fighters.

Skip to 1:18 into the video of why Fedor didn’t sign with UFC, he is correct in his assessment too as with my example below.

I'll watch that video tomorrow when I have time but are you honestly telling me that Fedor will have better competition in StrikeForce? Comeon now.

Regardless of what country their opponents are from doesn't make them any better or worse. You can't sit there and honestly say that GSP, Silva, Machida are not among the top of their weight-classses. Lesner still remains relatively untested obviously, but he's only getting better.

Tell me the win loss ratio of the fighters Brock has gone up against, the quality of fighters isnt as good. However those fighters are vell known in America because they belong to the UFC.

Normally a wider international pool of athletes has a better chance of finding better quality fighters. Take for example TUF 9, the Brits won against the Americans. Other countries do have talent, UFC however is only interested in locally grown North and South American fighters.

he's right. all my friends who became MMA fans as soon as UFC got popular tell me the same line all the time. Just because it's not UFC, doesn't make it worse...

I don't just watch the UFC, I've watched anything that has been televised the last few years: Affliction, WEC, Elite-XC, StrikeForce, UFC, Pride, etc. Regardless of how much MMA your friends have seen, it's not an inaccurate statement to say that the UFC is stronger than StrikeForce (talent-wise). We're not talking about any other international MMA organizations, we're talking UFC vs. StrikeForce, how did you stray from that?

and strikeforce has two guys that i don't think anyone in the UFC could beat. Gegard and Fedor.

That sounds like more of a fanboy statement then truth. There is no doubt they are incredibly talented fighters, but come on. So fedor beat Arlovski and Rogers, both of whom imo were getting the better of Fedor for the most part, he just happened to connect with a good punch. It's not as if he's beating the who's who of MMA, he's been fighting guys that the UFC let go because they couldn't compete with the top HW's. Yes he's got an impressive record but he's fought mostly unknown people, that doesn't make them bad fighters, but they obviously weren't good enough to be in a major organization. Call it what you want but your nationality doesn't matter, if you are a great fighter, one of the major organizations will pick you up. Whether anyone agrees or not, the UFC is the top organization with the top fighters. Gegard is a huge talent, but he's in the same boat as Fedor imo, he's beating people that couldn't compete in the ufc, so what if he beats Sobral or Sokoudjou, both were let go by the ufc because they couldn't compete against the top fighters. If you really want to test your talent you have to fight the best, and right now the best is the ufc.

+1, knew I wasn't alone lol. :)

I agree with this actually. If some of the UFC champs fought others outside of the UFC/USA, they may get their asses whooped.

That jumping leglock on Silva still surprises me to this day.

Fedor doesn't really stare at people though, he just looks at the ground in an unamused manner.

Probably thinking to himself, "Where should I drop this guy?"

lol good one.

on a sad note: Lesnar in bad shape

    • "Revelation?" I was hoping for this episode to be called "Reunion". Oh, well... In a related note, the Final Fantasy VII compilation has received an EC entry, short for Ever Crisis. For those who don't know, it already had AC, BC, CC, and DC entries, short for Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus. I hope it doesn't get an FC entry becaude that would be a freakin' crisis.
    • Uh, after intense testing now, 'Samsung Browser' is not the best one outside of 'Microsoft Edge' after all. Opera Air is that. It has "some" bloat, but it's far less than what both Microsoft Edge and Brave browser have.
