Here are some of the android apps I use. Note that I only use the essentials as the more apps you have installed and are running, the less CPU and memory resources are available. I also keep the number of widgets and apps on my homescreen as well as the number of homescreens to a minimum and don't use bells and whistles such as live wallpapers and animations.

- Android Assistant

- LauncherPro

- Kingsoft Office

- Fast Notepad

- Accuweather

- Quick Bible

- Avast Antivirus

- Beach Buggy Blitz

- Temple Run 2

- Subway Surfers

- Opera Mini

- Wifi Transfer

Unreal Engine 3 on Android

Very impressive

Epic Citadel (Free)

Man, that is really nice looking.. it runs at a butter-smooth 60+fps on my Nexus 4, too. I've seen (recent) PC MMORPGs that don't look this good.

Ok, I started with Android when it first came out, G1 baby!  Anyways, I had a few Android phones before I switched to the iPhone. I've not had an Android device for quite some time, I recently traded my iPhone 5 for a Samsung Galaxy S4 and I love it.  Question is, what is the best Twitter client for Android?  I was rather SPOILED by Tweetbot on the iPhone and I haven't really seen anything that compares yet on Android.  Any help would be greatly appreciated! :P  Other than that, the two apps I installed immediately were ChompSMS and Nova Launcher.  Have to have both!

Using Android for almost a year now. I currently have about 140 apps installed.

  • AirDroid - Excellent app for remotely accessing your phone from any web browser.
  • ES File Explorer - There are a lot of file managers, but this one is my favorite.
  • FolderSync Lite - I use it to automatically backup, once a day, all of my photos and some other files to Google Drive
  • Greenify (root) - You can select apps to force into standby (not kill) when they're not in use. It means I can have a functional phone with good battery life.
  • MobiCalc - It lacks anything advanced like complex numbers or graphing, but for simple calculations, I love it.
  • MyPhoneExplorer - My primary app for remote access, though not as simple or user friendly as AirDroid. I also use it to sync files between my phone and PC.
  • Palmary Weather - My favorite weather widget. I also have The Weather Channel for more detail and radar.
  • QuickPic - Image viewer.
  • RecForge - Sound recorder.
  • SMS Backup + - Backup SMS (and MMS) as email conversations to your Gmail account.
  • Tom's Multi Timer - Simply my favorite app for timer / countdown.
  • Wakelock Detector - Possibly the best app to discover which other apps are consuming your battery the most.
  • WallBase - Great app for downloading wallpapers.
  • Wallpaper Changer - Simple app for cycling through wallpapers. The Galaxy S3 (and presumably other devices) have separate wallpapers for the home and lock screens. This app runs as a live wallpaper so it can change with both screens.
  • WordWeb - Best offline dictionary.

Recently switching to a new phone and migrating between ROMs, I got tired of the system apps changing. So I'm on a mission to move to 3rd party apps wherever possible so I can migrate to a new ROM or device and retain the same experience.

And one more is XPrivacy, which can revoke permissions from other apps as well as spoof select data including GPS coordinates and phone number. It requires a rooted device with the Xposed framework installed. What I like most is that it denies all permissions for newly installed apps and you must select which permissions to allow. I consider that significant since I've yet to find a way to disable push installs in the Play Store.

Sorry for the bump. My go to Twitter application is Falcon Pro. Even though it's not in the market anymore there are still ways to use the application. In my opinion it's the best looking, has the best features, and is pretty awesome! I'd recommend everyone check it out!

No need to be sorry, that's what the thread is here for! I want to suggest Aviate Launcher. This is the first actually interesting launcher to be released. Tons of potential.

I've all but given up on launchers...

My top 2, would be

Buzz ( currently using)

Themer.

Aviate, how it automatically changes through the day is neat, but pretty useless really as It doesn't change phone behavior.

Not bad.. I am using Nova and other related apps. I will try Buzz.

I tried the buzz app...   took me awhile to figure it out...

nova app is quicker and fully customizable.

Downloading homepacks is the easy way and there are hundres of them when you look for them. The only thing I don't like about nova is having to pay...

I know .. I was talking about changing the items that are placed in the homepack and they asked me to download other apps ...

  • Nova Launcher - highly customizable launcher for Android 4.0+

What you guys use for listening to stuff? I'm currently with Powercramp... excuse me, PowerAMP. It sports real good battery life, even with non-native DSP enabled (which are vastly better than MusicFX on my device - it was the opposite on the ancient Desire) but perhaps there's something new out there.

    • You are clueless. The updates are done in the background so the next time you open Edge the updates are applied automatically. There is no need to close all your tabs. Just keep browsing like you normally do. Clearly you don't use Edge and are just one of those haters that complain for the sake of complaining.
    • I don't get this David. Can you explain it please.
    • Microsoft is busy. Lots of changes to be released imminently for Windows server or soon. Also, lots happening for next version as well. Third party virus scanning software is being moved out of Kernel mode to avoid repeat of Crowdstrike incident. Windows Protected Mode and Windows Ready Print no longer require third party print drivers to be installed. New storage stack being developed. New NVME drivers now available for Windows Server 2025 to improve local NVME drive performance by 60+ percent. NVME-Of of fabric being worked on for next release to improve network access to NVME drives. ReFs (next file system) now has ability to boot and will become default file system in next release of Windows Server. ReFs improves on NTFS in several areas including resiliency and reliability and scalability. New update stack is being worked on to unify Windows updates, and updates for drivers and first party/3rd party application software. A stricter and more robust third-party driver certification program (ODI) is being worked on to improve performance, thermals, battery life, and reliability on modern Windows hardware by tightening how OEMs and IHVs (Intel, AMD, Qualcomm, NVIDIA, etc.) build and ship drivers. There is a tone more but too numerous to mention.
    • Now disable that stupid OneDrive backup request when Windows starts please. So unbelievably frustrating to only have “remind me later” instead of “no and never ask me again”
    • Hello, The Media Creation Tool is still at v10.0.26100.7019 from October 2025. Just looks like the backend has been updated. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky
