A taste of Windows 7 advertising to come

Recommended Posts

My favorite Windows 7 ad is this one:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPIgEFIv5MI.swf

It features real people, their opinion about this new Windows version and some of the capabilities of the desktop. The other ads don't really focus on that.

We have a winner!

If there would be an ad campaign about Kde4, Windows would be hurting badly

Considering that almost no one uses KDE4 (certainly not the average person), the ad campaign would simply consist of most people asking, "What is KDE?"

I heard it's at the stable version 4.3.1.

Ladies and gentlemen, brentaal's post here serves as an example of why Linux will not succeed on the desktop: The permanent infighting between Gnome and KDE users, Ubuntu/Fedora/openSUSE users, vi and emacs users etc takes away resources from making the actual software as usable as their commercial counterparts.

What is going to happen is that eventually people will realize that a GUI and an OS are two different things. They will realize that good looks doesn't necessarily mean good quality. They're going to stop saying "oh that looks nice" and ask "how does the performance compare to... " and "how secure is it?"

Exactly. "secure" is one of the most important aspects for some when considering the available alternatives.

    • LOL. Can't even quote and edit a comment correctly. Figures you're a Linux user.
    • I have disabled it, but the app is still taking space. I have a Mac and it is only possible to disable Ai on that, but I think that bit does get rid of the AI components after a while. What we are told is that we agree to all this when we use the devices as it is in the end user agreements, their software, they can do what they like. I doubt that any bill will happen in the U.S, the government there are in league with big tech firms. The E.U maybe, they seem to have some guts when it comes to tech companies. The U.K is not in the E.U, but some things still affect us. Our government is as gutless when it comes to tech companies as the U.s government.
