Zune Services May Greet Mobiles Soon

Recommended Posts

ZDNet's Microsoft specialist Mary Jo Foley has some interesting information for all you Zune fans out there who wanted its affiliate services to trickle down to mobile devices.

Jose Pinoro, director of communications for Microsoft's TV, Video and Music Business, has confirmed that "Zune's next step would be to target mobile phones." Now, it's up to the reader what to make out of that sentence. However, the general consensus on this is that you will soon be seeing Zune content and services on that Windows Mobile phone of yours. Now that the cat is out of the bag, the other major concern about this is that Microsoft has not given anyone a timeline as to when we should expect these to arrive natively in Windows Mobile devices.

Pinoro was also queried regarding the possible availability of the Zune Pass subscription services arriving on archrival Apple's devices amongst others. In reply to that, he toed the standard industry line, which goes something like this - "We're evaluating a lot of options in terms of platforms."

It remains to be seen how soon we'd be seeing the trickling in of Zune services to mobile phones. Microsoft, on the other hand, seems more interested in bringing Zune services for the Xbox, right now.
