I actually noticed something like that with the latest firefox versions. Though, me, it's mostly after prolonged use. I have my browser running all day on websites with flash, and around noon, the browser starts freezing for about 5 secs, every min or so.... by the end of the day, looking at the task manager shows that the browser is using around 1.6gb of ram.

Fixed it by switching to Chrome. Man that thing is fast.

Get the firefox beta, it should help you out.

The problem is with an unoptimized flash add leeching CPU. The slower your CPU the more likely you are to even notice it. It happens it IE8 as well.
