Stokkolm
Just wait until Battle.Net 2.0 comes out with a downloader and then Activision jumps all over it. I can see it now....
dead.cell
Steam is great, but their prices for third party, non valve games are not. I purchased a copy of F.E.A.R 2 Project Origin from HMV for ?9.99, a full copy that actually registers to your steam account anyway. The game is ?24.99 on steam, which is just crazy Just the same, GTAIV is up at full price I think on Steam, while only $20 at Target (retail store for those not familiar). Honestly, some retailers will always have certain games priced lower. This is why I really suggest people to at least be smart consumers and shop around before deciding to pick up a game or anything for that matter. Personally, I like the convenience of Steam and don't mind if something is only $5 higher than somewhere else, though usually, I only purchase what's on sale on Steam and because of that, it's generally cheaper than anywhere else anyway:):) Just wait until Battle.Net 2.0 comes out with a downloader and then Activision jumps all over it. I can see it now.... Ya know, that's something I really hadn't considered. While Blizzard seems intent on having it as a system fotheiri> games, I could easily see Activision wanting to jump on board with their games and services."Buy the latest Call of Duty, and get this sweet CoD soldier vanity pet in game!!!"i> While we have our doubts that Stardock's Impulse service is at #2... +
Jimmy0
Doesn't really surprise me that Steam takes up so much of the market, it is teh shizzle after all! :p
Pc_Madness
Really? I did not know this, I thought they had to price them high because Steam takes a chunk of the profits? I maybe wrong, don't really know much about it if I can be honest. That was the original plan for Steam, developers would only have publishers for the retail part and then they'd sell it online themselves and make a heap more money out of it. Seems like publishers didn't like that idea too much. :p
Island Dog
Most people don't understand how pricing works for retail and DD outlets. You can't compare what a retail store does and another outlet. A games retailer can sell the game for X amount of dollars for a variety of reasons, and it doesn't affect the prices of any other retailer. Now are you saying this because you feel its true? or do you have to twist it to make them looks less legit, since you owe something to Stardock for buying part of your forum? It's a pretty well known fact.
Shaun N.
It's a pretty well known fact. The question wasn't asking about facts, The question was if he felt it was true
