To top off what DL mentioned, the objectives unbalance the game by sheer manpower and its impossible to break through your opponents stronghold, It just created an atmosphere where your hard work is punished(low experience pts earned) and in some cases low cooperation is added experience (note I don't count handing revives and ammunition packs as experience, heck thats practically how you earn most of them to begin with just huddle with your crew and keep throwing them out, and I noticed most of the time no one really runs out of ammo for an inconvient ammount of time its like these packs are being meant to be given away from the get go)

Overall I was suckered by the marketing behind this game, the artwork quality was that of a AAAA title but sadly I'm this child for being deceived of my $50 off steam.

Also one big fuss about this title is that I was under the impression the campaign was seperate from the MP but they're exactly the same thing. The gameplay isn't really impressive but its repetitive in a bad way.

I will probably go as to say this was the worst game I ever purchased for myself.

No offence to yourself but this isn't a CoD clone. It's team based objective gameplay. You can't go solo and expect to when. You NEED to work together to get another. And nothing is impossible, teamwork can overcome anything.

This game isn't about getting the best KDR or most kill streaks. It is about winning the match, playing your part and getting the objectives.

This review pretty much sums up how I feel about this game:-

Is it true that their highly marketed unique single-player campaign is nothing more than multiplayer maps with bots?
I expected SP to crap, I don't want a stellar SP experience from this game. I want a unique MP experience from this game, which I know I will get.

As for the ATi card issues, normally at this point I would give up hope. But having played a Splash Damage game before (ET:QW) they support the games really well and their devs read and reply to their own forums. ET:QW got plenty of devotion and patches from SD. I expect Brink to get even better treatment, so I have complete faith that the ATi issues will be resolved shortly.

No offense, but I think most people posting on this thread are very familiar with objectives-based gameplay and Enemy Territory.

I myself have yet to play this game but based on all of the reviews (granted all of the review copies given out by SD is the 360 version) all seem to echo the same complaints in this thread. Here are some from the Giant Bomb review:

The weapons are incredibly underwhelming. Part of this is due to the sound design, which doesn't give anything an appropriate punch when it's fired. But the weapon damage feels weak and the bullet spray makes a lot of the non-scoped weapons feel imprecise and generally ineffective.
A lot of time in each map is spent running back to the battle, as the game lacks any sort of forward spawn capability.
Brink's stylized look is pretty cool, but the whole thing feels like a bust. The minute-to-minute action just isn't interesting enough to make the game's eight maps worth replaying for a serious length of time, which makes a lot of this come down to a basic value proposition. It feels like a downloadable game's worth of content that's been fleshed out a little by some slightly higher production values.

Not from some of the replies I am reading. Seems like most people just want to kill kill kill and not play the game.

And for every bad review there are a couple of good reviews.

The main reason I am so hesitant to want to even think about purchasing this is the recent release of a bunch of good shooters these past few months. Killzone 3, Socom 4, Crysis 2, Duke Nukem Forever, ( I just bought Black Ops :p ), and that is just the shooters. There is then Infamous 2, LA Noire, Mortal Kombat, Portal 2, and some others that rank up higher on my "want to buy" list.....

I'm a little hesitant in buying the game now. At first, I was going to get the PC version but my friends showed some interest in the X360 version so I decided to go for that. Now, they're not interested in it anymore which brings me back to the PC version. Unfortunately, I've been reading a lot of bad experiences from users with ATI video cards (which I happen to have). With that said, I'm going to hold off from buying the game until those issues are resolved.

If I remember you and I had almost the same build, still using the 4870? I don't have HUGE issues. Other than minor graphical errors that I can ignore.

No issues on my 6870, can't say about other cards/systems.

I like shooters but I've barely bought any of them recently. Aliens? Zombies? Whee. Portal? Meh...give me DX10/11 support and we'll talk. Call of Duty games? Overpriced for single player gamers.

Monolith makes the stuff I love, and I don't even know what they're doing right now. Definately want F.E.A.R. 3 though.

Thankfully that bug never affected me or else I would have stopped playing this game right then and there.

Also, they need NEED NEED to fix performance issues with this game. Like other people have been saying, my in-game FPS says 60 (with vsync) and over 150 (without vsync) but the game feels like it's going 20fps. Terrible optimization and feels like a crappy console port.

Other than that, I have only experienced a few multiplayer matches that were FUN - the ones I have tried today were so laggy I could not stand it so I quit.

SD & Bethesda need to get their crap together.

Ended up talking to a guy at Gamestop and I made up my mind to pick up Portal 2 instead. I may pick this up for computer some time down the road when it's on the bargain bin, but I can't justify paying 60 for a 360 game that will most likely get very few patches. Plus portal 2 was on sale for PC so i got it for a whopping 29.99 - great deal!

Portal 2 PCs been $30 on Amazon practically since launch...it already is in the bargain bin hah.

Which, actually, is about what I'd be willing to pay for it, where I spent 50 for Brink and don't mind at all.

Great game. Tired of playing against bots, but out of 20 matches, only 2 were playable. The others just blow. :(

Hope they fix the online lag issues sooner rather than later, or this is just going to be tossed aside and forgotten.

On another note. All achievements spare 4 done. :)

My friend and I seem to keep getting other players in the game whenever we try to do a 2 player + AI game, which seems a little weird. Haven't had any lag issues since I connected directly to my 3g modem though.

where do you get this from? the devs have a history of being good to their games in future (updates & patches) as someone has already said

    • A gatekeeper is basically a company that is used by so many other (businesses) that sudden changes could impact the other business might fail. Like for example, say a car show room uses AWS to it's database, as gatekeepers amazon wouldn't really be expected to just change it's terms of conditions that would rug pull the database from the car show's business leaving them in the dark.
