where do you get this from? the devs have a history of being good to their games in future (updates & patches) as someone has already said

If i recall the 360 allows limited patches free, if the devs want to release any beyond that they have to shell out money. I'll get the game eventually, but I would rather just buy it when it's $10-20 less, and all patched up, rather than dealing with all that now. Not to mention is has no lobbies so it will be hard to get all my friends into one team. I'm fine with Portal 2, Portal was one of my favorite games ever so I doubt i'll be disappointed.

kk, i advise you get portal 2 on pc, its been 'dumbed down' since portal 1, so if you want the really challenges PC for player made content (or you could rent portal 2 and complete the single player in a day or two and the co-op in a few hours?) (what i did)

Started creating my config for MP last night. Most of the cvars from ET:QW still work (Y)

Well i wont be playing on launch day, D2D UK still havent released keys. Its gonna take forever to install tomorrow cause servers are going to be hit by people trying to download/play as well.
Bummer dude. You from the UK or outside of it? I got an automated email (straight into my junk mail) from D2D UK letting me know my key was ready and it actually included the key in the email as well.

Im from England and first thing i did was check my email.

Maybe you could share it when its done Singh? Ive preloaded my copy, just waiting for the game to unlock, stupid release dates.
Yeah sure mate, I'm still trying to find class specific binds and stuff but when I think it's near final I don't mind sharing it.

Honestly, that isn't on man. I'd be livid if that happened to me. You can try steam://preload/22350/ or steam://install/22350/ to see if it'll work. And then when you do get your PK just use it on that. No idea if it'll work though mate.

I was on the brink (lol) of pre-ordering this yesterday along with LA Noire and DNF, but I stopped as soon as I read that reviews were lukewarm...

It's something I'll have to rent instead first. :[ Shame too, I was actually looking forward to it! Wouldn't want to throw near enough ?40 at something that might not be brilliant though.

If I remember you and I had almost the same build, still using the 4870? I don't have HUGE issues. Other than minor graphical errors that I can ignore.

Yes, I still use that video card. How's the performance on your system? I'd like to get at least 30 FPS (without any major drops during gun battles).

No issues on my 6870, can't say about other cards/systems.

I like shooters but I've barely bought any of them recently. Aliens? Zombies? Whee. Portal? Meh...give me DX10/11 support and we'll talk. Call of Duty games? Overpriced for single player gamers.

Monolith makes the stuff I love, and I don't even know what they're doing right now. Definately want F.E.A.R. 3 though.

Ah, I see. I'm guessing you're using the latest Catalyst drivers with the hotfix for Brink.

Didnt work thanks anyway.

from what i read their are no real issues with the 6xxx cards, just the 5xxx and below.

Damn i have a 5770 :s, Guess i will hve to see when it is released here in the UK.

yeah i just upgraded from that card... it wasn't pretty.

also another issue. the voices in the cut scene and loading screen come out of my rear speakers... should definitely be coming out of the center channel.

is no one else getting random crashes?

I tend to get all Valve games on the PC now adays. I originally had the Orange Box for 360, but after the lack of updates for TF2 I moved over to the PC. I want to enjoy Portal for a long time, so i figured PC was the way to go. DLC, player made levels, etc.

First: I have no issues with the game. I'm running a Q6600 with 4 gigs of ram and a 8800GT. I'm running at 1680X1050. I have no idea what my framerate is, but I have not seen any slow downs at all, which is impressive.

Second: I really like this game. It's very fun to play. HOWEVER, the enemy AI is very good. They are smart. They cover the objectives well, do their objectives well, and are a royal pain. Your teammates, if you're playing solo, are mentally disabled. For instance, in the challenge where you have to complete 4 or 5 objectives, while switching classes, and you are the only one that can do the objectives, the opposing team does their job VERY well. Your teammates run around the map to random places. You usually get one helping out while the others bugger off.

Also, I think they made hacking a bit too much of a pain. I have no real issue with how long hacking takes. What I do have issue with is that a 99% complete hack can be COMPLETELY undone in 6 seconds. That hack would have taken a couple minutes if you are standing right AT the objective, which is usually impossible to do.

Overall though I'm very happy with this game.

Still no cd key from D2D :/

Same and they are ignoring my support request.

I think they blocked all Uk cdkeys because people were buying it internationally and they had issues redeeming it on Steam so everyone suffers because of International cheapskates.

Same and they are ignoring my support request.

My key also disappeared from their site but luckily I had all ready redeemed it on Steam before they pulled them. It's disgusting to be honest and it looks like many people won't get to play when its unlocked tonight. Disappointing from D2D and certainly makes me think twice before buying there again.

Im only on 512kbps connection at the minute because im out in the sticks away from home, its gonna take me 26 hours non stop downloading to get it and thats ignoring the fact the servers are going to be hammered tomorrow by all the D2D people that didnt get their key on time.

Can someone tell me if Brink is installed into the Common folder in Steamapps folder?

it does...

this game is seriously broken. random crashes ftmfw!

I actually bothered to change my outlook of the entire game surrounding +Singh400's perspective and this game actually works with people you know. I really went with a cod type of mentality and thats why I was bothered so much by it.

The lag I believe will get allot better over time, I don't really know if my cards performance is an issue at all when playing MP, I own a 6870 and I've experienced no crashes.

My Review (PC)

good

  • graphics
  • animation
  • art style
  • customization
  • weapons
  • no k/d on scoreboard
  • focus on teamplay
  • awesome gameplay
  • challenges are cool especially with coop
  • parkour crap (sliding though awesome while shot gunning the buddy behind him never gets old)

bad

  • sound in FMV and loading screen comes out of my rear channels on my 5.1 system
  • typical laggy first few days of online
  • i had to reinstall dx9 to get the sound work (the game uses opengl...)
  • why no female characters?
  • friendly bots are dumb as
  • weak story (has potential but it's like they didn't even care)
  • crappy single player does make it feel like a full game

ugly

  • ui reeks of console port
  • performance (i have to turn shadows, HBAO and motion off to play the game at a good frame rate)
  • random crashes
  • paying full price for this game. I am glad I only paid $37 because that's all it's worth. The SP is a joke, it's MP with bots. This is definitely not worth the full price of admission.

i got 12 hours of game play in. i love the game it just doesn't feel finished or they even used any sort of ATI cards in QA. this game isn't for the halo/CoD kiddies. to me it feels like a more evolved, adult tf2. Oh my specs are a q9550 @ 3.1ghz an oc'ed sapphire HD 5850 with 4gb of RAM. I shouldn't have any issues running this game maxed out at 1680x1050 (and according to their recommended specs i more then meet them). either way i love this game and will be playing it for a long time to come (my summer game) but they DESPERATELY need to fix the ATI issues and have more customization options for PC.

Right now I would give it a 7.8/10 and would be a 9 easily if it had a good SP, wasn't $60, better friendly AI and no tech issues.

----------------------------------------------

A lot of the reviews out there from the so called pros are retarded. they are clearly reviewing the 360 version of the game and mainly SP. That's why the scores are so bad. this game is getting too bad of a rap. it deserves some **** for it's shotty launch but not as much slag as it's getting. The Morgan Webb review just proved she's another dumb video game broad who is just an average skilled halo ######. The joystiq review was pretty the same thing. The best review i like so far is the Ars quick one because they are playing the PC version of the game and waited until after launch. this isn't one of those games that you can review before the game actually launches... you need to give it time as it's an MP focused game. Most dumb reviewers seem not to have figured that out.

    • Microsoft releases PowerToys v0.100.1, fixes a bug that made remapped keys misbehave by Ivan Jenic Microsoft just released PowerToys v0.100.1, a patch update that addresses several stability and behavior issues found in v0.100.0. The v0.100.0 patch was a significant update for PowerToys, as it introduced all sorts of new features and additions, such as a rebuilt Shortcut Guide, a Command Palette Extension Gallery, webcam overlay support in ZoomIt, and more. However, the v0.100.0 version also introduced some bugs and stability issues. And now, Microsoft is addressing these issues in the new patch. The most impactful fix in this release perhaps is in Keyboard Manager, where remapped modifier keys were being delivered as system-key events, causing unexpected behavior in apps. The clearest example of this was Alt-to-Backspace remaps, deleting whole words instead of a single character. So, if you thought there was an issue with your keyboard, Microsoft just confirmed that it was PowerToys. Beyond the Keyboard Manager fix, v0.100.1 also addresses several other issues. It fixes a bug with Power Display that was preventing monitors from waking from standby correctly. Additionally, the new update patches Quick Access crashes on launch, and resolves a Shortcut Guide crash that occurred when switching between sidebar sections. Here’s the full changelog: Color Picker Fixed a bug where the main Color Picker window could appear inside the zoomed-in picker view Command Palette Fixed Run history initialization in AOT builds Fixed a bug where the Performance Monitor dock item could show ??? after restart Fixed the Hibernate command using the Sleep icon Limited the "pin to dock" dialog to displays where the dock is enabled Keyboard Manager Fixed modifier keys remapped to non-modifier keys being delivered as system-key events, which caused unexpected behavior in apps such as Alt-to-Backspace deleting whole words Power Display Fixed a bug where selecting On in the monitor power-state control did not wake a monitor from standby Fixed built-in display detection and brightness control on dual-GPU laptops where the internal panel is driven by the discrete GPU PowerToys Run Fixed VS Code Workspaces discovery after VS Code moved recently opened workspace data to shared storage Quick Access Fixed Quick Access flyout crashes caused by unhandled XAML exceptions during launch or page navigation Shortcut Guide Fixed a crash when navigating between Shortcut Guide sidebar sections Fixed number-key rendering in shortcut manifests and added a Postman shortcut manifest Updated bundled shortcut manifests to use the literal number-key token so number keys render correctly across apps ZoomIt Fixed a race condition in audio initialization for ZoomIt video recording You can download PowerToys v0.100.1 from the official GitHub releases page.

    • Grand Theft Auto VI pricing revealed alongside Ultimate Edition and pre-loading details by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Last week, Rockstar revealed Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders will be starting soon, and just a day ahead of that, now the studio has announced the official pricing for the highly anticipated game. This has been a hotly debated topic among fans and industry veterans for a long time, considering the game is expected to be the biggest entertainment product launch ever. The confirmed pricing for the Grand Theft Auto VI standard edition is $79.99, which Rockstar says gives access to the "single-player experience set in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet." This follows what most of our readers thought would happen with the pricing too. At the same time, a $99.99 Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition has been confirmed as well, which lands with "an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story." Pre-ordering will also give fans extra bonuses, including a Vintage Vice City Pack of cosmetic items as well as a free month of GTA+. Head to the official website of the game here to check out all the cosmetic rewards the Ultimate Edition and pre-orders bring. Interestingly, the studio does not mention Grand Theft Auto VI multiplayer at all in today's announcement. Perhaps this will arrive later, following the campaign launch, or the studio is keeping that reveal for a later date. Digital pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI will begin on June 25, 2026, at midnight local time across regions for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. The title is slated to launch on November 19 on those same platforms. Pre-loading for Grand Theft Auto VI will kick off on November 12, giving players a week to get the game ready on their consoles. As for the physical edition, Take-Two has confirmed that this will be available without a disc, with the box only containing a download code inside. This will be purchasable starting November 12, giving players who take this route time to pre-load the title as well.
