Played my first proper ESL pro match the other tonight. We won, but I didn?t do much. Felt like a spare part most of the match, which is fine. I?m not nearly as high skilled as my clan mates. Sometimes knowing your limits is a good thing. Think I?ll become the clan mascot/cheerleader instead :D

Seems so :(

Can't find anyone online during UK evening hours

Maybe the DLC release will perk things up.

What? Our server is the most popular server in the UK, and the 8th most popular in the world. It's always packed. I'm constantly kicking slots for members. Just search "OCB" in the server browser and you'll find it. We've got around 6 servers. The one I'm talking about is the "Real Quake" one. We also have one called "100% Scots, 0% Bots?. All our server are prefixed with ?OCB?. We?ve got one in Chicago for our American clan members too. And then last night we setup a ESL config server up for anyone who wants to practice with ESL ruleset.

This game is far from dead, but it will die if SD don?t pull their finger out and start supporting it correctly!

that's what happens when you have retard developpers who release a beta product at best as a retail release. game still needs a lot of work imo. still isn't running the greatest for me. I'm waiting for new ATI drivers before i jump back in. i haven't regretted buying a game in a long time until this one...

They aren't retard imo.

SD decided to make all 3 versions of the game, because ET:QW console port turned into **** and was done by a 3rd party studio.

Bethesda gave them 2/3years of development, at the end the game is far from being polished. The game was postoned multiple time, and it should have been out "end 2010" at first.

Don't you remember that they push the release from another 6month after announcing multiple times "end 2010"? (the first official release date).

They just didn't finish the game in time. And ofc no beta (excepted on PS3) this time. An epic fail was expected to me.

Hopefully they will be able to finish it. The incoming free DLC is just another part cut off from the original game already ....

don't blame SD then. but either them or bestheda are retarded for releasing beta products at full price... it's like these guys never heard of QA or saw two other examples of games that had potential and died quickly after release due to gamebreaking bugs (singularity to name just one). If I could i would get my money back, but apparently for whatever dumb reason software doesn't follow normal consumer protection laws. Im happy I only paid 37, man do i feel bad for the people who got fleeced by paying a full 60 bucks for this.

This game needs at least another six months IMO. Their rush fixes/patches aren't working very well either. I can barely play the game at playable FPS, and the only way to do it is by turning the gfx down, killing shadows via a autoexec, (man do i feel for the non game geeks out there who have no idea about any of this stuff who are suffering even worse) latest ati drivers helped a bit but not really.

Them charging at all for any DLC would be criminal. SP campaign is a joke. This game is a multiplayer game ONLY with bots (who are some of the dumbest bots gaming has seen in years). I really really want to love this game, but I just can't in it's current status. It has so much potential but SD/Besthesda ruined it by releasing it too early.

I'd rather blame people buying the game at "full price".

But yeah, it still needs few more weeks/month of development, along with some real PC settings what we are all missing.

How is the game's single player like guys, looking to play this game, is it actually worth the time to play this?

game doesn't have SP. it's just MP with bots and that doesn't even work properly because the AI is stupid. trust me. this game is a skip at the moment.

I was asking for SP since I got no gold, i am not buying it, merely borrowing for the library (free) is the AI seriously that stupid, i.e. they kill you, or their mapping to the level is just bad? :)

Hell yeah! Some missions suck with bots though.

I've only played single player and 2 player, not general matches. Invited another friend to join us tonight though.

Thanks for tips, 2 of my friends bought Brink, but I got no xbox live gold, just spent money on 3DS...

they just won't help you do the objectives, or cover you. medics will heal you though if they aren't too stupid to get to you

Thank god for Netvars eh?...

By the Power of Netvars ? Brink Gets Balance Tweaks

In addition to our on-going game updates for Brink, we?ve also been working on a bundle of balance tweaks based on the feedback we?ve had now that the game is out in the wild.

These tweaks are coming to all three versions of Brink and are being rolled out via our netvars. If netvars sound entirely foreign for you, they?re part of a system we developed for Brink to allow us to tweak various aspects of the game without requiring you to download a full game update.

Let?s have a look at what we?ve got in store, shall we?

Objectives

Hackboxes are getting a significant tweak across the board to help out attacking teams. We have drastically increased the time it takes Engineers to ?de-hack?, making it easier for the attackers to actually get the hack done.

In addition to the Hackbox change, we?ve got several other objective tweaks coming, as well. For starters, we?re doubling the XP received for completing Primary Objectives in the game, so if you tackle one of them, your reward will be much greater from now on.

In addition, we?ve made the following map-specific adjustments:

  • Aquarium: Elevator generator construction time decreased
  • Container City: Robot health increased
  • Reactor: Terminal hack time slightly increased to balance new hacking mechanic
  • Resort: Gate hack time slightly increased to balance new hacking mechanic
  • Security Tower: Passcode return time increased
  • Security Tower: Passcode transmit time decreased

Abilities

Somewhat unsurprisingly, we?ve also been unable to keep our hands off Brink?s player abilities. There?s a single tweak coming your way here, with the Medic?s Adrenaline ability now having a shorter duration, which?ll make timing the ability right even more important.

When Will I Get These?

These changes are already live in the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Brink. If you?re on the PC, you?ll be getting the entire batch of balance changes alongside the next game update.

    • Turbo Pascal was my first real programming experience more than 30 years ago at university. I mostly taught myself from the included examples and help documentation, because the university only taught the basic syntax and philosophy of Pascal, without going deeply into Turbo Pascal’s advanced features. I still remember when I discovered that I could embed assembly language directly into Pascal code, call BIOS functions, manipulate screen memory, use mouse interrupts, and control peripherals from my programs. That opened huge doors for me. Programming back then felt really fun, direct, and close to the machine. What I loved about Pascal was its readability and the almost instant compile time. Turbo Pascal was an amazing environment, but unfortunately Turbo Pascal for Windows 3 did not feel like it fully carried that legacy forward. Later, Delphi got things back on the right track after the messy transition to TP for Windows. Sadly, Delphi suffered from years of uncertainty as it moved from Borland to CodeGear and then to Embarcadero. That instability made many developers lose confidence in it, even though Delphi itself remained a powerful and productive tool. I still work with Delphi from time to time, but I definitely miss the old days of Turbo Pascal.
    • I hope this encodes in to AV1 or AV2 as currently tiktok uses h265 and h264.
    • Qualcomm reportedly in talks to build custom video chips for TikTok parent ByteDance by Karthik Mudaliar Qualcomm is reportedly in advanced discussions to provide custom chip-design services to Chinese tech giant ByteDance, the same company behind TikTok. According to a report from Reuters, Qualcomm could be involved in designing custom silicon tailored for ByteDance's massive data-center workloads. If it goes through, the deal would make ByteDance one of Qualcomm's early anchor customers for its fastly growing custom chip-design division, For years, Qualcomm was the king of making smartphone processors and modems. The company has also been moving into the PC ecosystem and other formats such as on-device AI for Android XR headsets. However, this particular deal is about Qualcomm's custom Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs). For a platform like TikTok, ByteDance needs hardware that can help it ingest, process, and serve billions of short-form videos daily. Generalised hardware is no longer the most cost-effective and efficient route, which is why ByteDance is trying to develop custom Video Processing Units (VPUs). VPUs designed specifically for ByteDance’s algorithmic needs could drastically reduce data-center power consumption and improve encoding speeds at an unprecedented scale. The underlying tech behind these processors is actually from Qualcomm's recent acquisition of AlphaWave Semi, a high-speed connectivity specialist company. By combining AlphaWave’s high-bandwidth IP with Qualcomm’s architectural expertise, the company could begin mass production by the end of 2026, if the talks go through. All this also comes at a time when U.S.-China tech relations have dwindled. Escalating trade frictions between Washington and Beijing have severely impacted the export of high-end AI chips from U.S. firms like Nvidia, AMD, and Lam Research. Yet, the Qualcomm-ByteDance discussions show that U.S. tech companies are still actively seeking growth avenues and are open to doing business with China, where regulators still permit. Reuters notes that the outcome of this deal could be uncertain, and ByteDance might also seek partners other than Qualcomm. via Reuters | Image via DepositPhotos.com
