Yeah, throughout the entire time I spent with this game, I could never get over just how odd the movement felt, how clumsy the parkour actions were, how insubstantial the guns felt, and how utterly unbalanced the game was (some maps were better than others, to be fair). It was so jarring moving back to Bad Company 2 after playing Brink. Like finally walking on land again after treading miles through mud.

In any case, I spent $36 on Brink, and I got about eight hours of entertainment out of it, so it's hard to sit here and feel like I got cheated. I can name a few single player games that have given me less entertainment for a full $60. However, as a person who spent an entire summer playing Wolf:ET, it fell short of my expectations by a country mile.

Honestly that does not even begin to cover my disappointment. Movement is key for me, I need to be able to move correctly. SMART sounded like a fantastic idea in reality it failed. Sure it was cool to auto hop over stuff. But during the SMART action you had no control over your character. Compare that to movement in ETQW - I had control over ALL my movement. Once I initiated the SMART action that's it. I was "on the rails" for x seconds.
Can't say I'm not surprised. Saw this as a flop a mile away... ;)
I placed a lot of faith in this game. I really thought it would be a big hit. Me and all my friends from ET:QW.

Honestly, far too little, too late. It's just not worth it any more. This DLC was pushed back so many times people have lost interest in the game completely. And making it for free doesn't even begin to make up for the disappointment the PC gaming community feels.

I have actually decided to keep it.

I made a thread on the official Brink forums, and basically some people there talked me into giving it a chance since it was only $20. Especially since I am more or less in time for the DLC, who knows, maybe it will grow on me.

Stranger things have happened. If not, it is not the end of the world. Again, really just looking for something to play on the PC until Deus Ex.

The " official Brink forum" is probably full of fanboys :) I wouldn't ask them if they liked the game or not ...

Anyone who's stil playing it on pc with AMD cards - has the performance improved from what it was when it was released?

last i checked it was pretty good, but some spots on certain maps it would drop hard for no real reason.

 Obviously it is full of fanboys, that is why I asked as that is more than likely the people STILL playing it. I was not asking them on an opinion based, I was asking them from a player base.

And actually you should give the human race a bit more credit, there are actually some decent people out there, and almost half of them actually said DO NOT keep it.

And FTR, I have played the game, I had a copy if you will, just never played MP, so I know what to expect from that regard, it has always been more about if I can find servers, etc., which almost every single person on the Brink forums said that would be tough, but it was an option.

Are you playing on PC ? Because you can, at any time, see all the BRINK servers directly from STEAM, without owning the game.

Example (took by myself, 2min ago) :

How exactly does one check servers for any game through Steam? I have honestly never done so and that is definitely a cool feature and I would have for no doubt checked out prior to making any threads or questions if I knew about it.

But it does look like some people are playing the game here and there, even though it is also my understanding a decent amount of those servers can be filled with bots, which I definitely am not crazy about that fact.

This really is just meant to amuse me until Dues Ex. One without a doubt has to step back and think to themselves why would a game that only came out a few months ago already be selling for $20, and the obvious answer is because it tanked and as such must not be very good, but honestly I have such low expectations based on this fact I might just wind up enjoying myself. And if not, there are worse things I could have spent my $20 on.

Open steam > view > servers > changes filter : pick brink, not empty, no pw.

Thanks. Will start utilizing this option more all around. Actually feel like I may have known about it and just completely forgotten one could do this.

I honestly like the game. It is not the best game in the world, FAR from it actually, but for $20, I feel like it was a good deal. I can see why people who purchased on release would be bitter though, no doubt. But especially the people who are playing it, all seem really pretty cool, very helpful, and I just really, really enjoy the fact teamwork is the biggest aspect of it. I have been top player in a few games I have played, and I hardly have any kills, just all about the teamwork. I dig it.

The price doesn't really matter.

I'd rather pay $40 for a great game than 2 ****ty game like brink for $20.

And they cut the price for BRINK because the review were bad (among the sales), they are trying to save the sinking ship, nothing else.

Right, if you do not like the game, I agree, the price does not matter. But I happen to like the game in the state it is when I started playing it, which was just last week .So for me, the price does indeed matter, it was an added bonus if you will.

    • Regarding the AI photo, I LOVE AI in that regard, you ask it what you want and it gives you a lovey photo in under a minute, that would taken me an hour to make in photoshop and it wouldn't have looked nearly as good. 2 nights ago I spent a couple hours collaborating with AI.  I did not say write me an article. I would write one or 2  paragraphs, then I would ask it to clean it up so it read better but still keeps the information I was trying to convey.  Rinse repeat.
