So wow, John had gotten it to where one can add only 1 custom icon/shortcut on the right side of the Start Menu, below RUN? Really??? Can't get the rest of this empty space filled with more custom shortcuts/icons? I wonder why.

Trying to figure this out, I recently learned that people had been editing their registry to customize the right side of the Start Menu. What a horrible thing the registry is,

I never wanted to hear about this thing. Anyhow, so I learned how to RUN regedit to take a look around. Searching online, I ran across this link...

http://www.osnn.net/windows-desktop-systems/419-windows-xp-start-menu-adding-folders-right-had-side.html

and noticed how the things yoyo mentioned had been done by John's Start Panel Editor... Yup, the custom icon/shortcut I created with John's Start Panel Editor was found at the location yoyo specified to be edited. This makes me feel like I understand something.

Navigating the Registry Editor further, I even found the spot Mixsynth mentioned earlier in this post (06 February 2005)...

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StartMenu\ StartPanel\

Feeling like I'm getting a grasp on what the registry is, I wonder, can one REALLY get use of all the empty space Windows left on the right side of the Start Menu (below RUN) by learning how to edit the registry? How many more icons/shortcuts could one add? Does it only depend on the space available or is there something else to it, for instance, I noticed some weird hexi deci crap in the registry. I don't know, to add a new icon/shortcut, one would have to create a new key, right?
