tomwarren Veteran Posted December 27, 2009 Veteran Share Posted December 27, 2009 It's not the first time it's happened here... The last time someone compromised the site they posted a virus and I downloaded it. :pinch: Unfortunately we rely on the vendor (Invision) patching their forums and finding exploits so we're not affected. We have been affected previously by exploits and have resolved these with a quick turn around. This incident is separate and only one account was affected (Neobonds). Stephen Veteran Posted December 28, 2009 Veteran Share Posted December 28, 2009 "Its just impossible to decode it. ":) And who told you that? Crack IPB's passes is easy as 1,2,3, do some research. :) so you can crack a MD5 with a salt can you?
xSaimex
so you can crack a MD5 with a salt can you? Honestly, I would expect more from a moderator on a tech related website. IPB uses md5(md5(salt)md5(pass)) Screenshot taken from InsidePro's PasswordsPro tool.
RoomKid
"Its just impossible to decode it. ":) And who told you that? Crack IPB's passes is easy as 1,2,3, do some research. :) No one really, I just installed IPB locally(after some edits) and went through the database. But if you'd like some literature by IPB staff's, http://community.invisionpower.com/topic/1...ord-decryption/
Fred Derf Veteran Posted December 28, 2009 Veteran Share Posted December 28, 2009 Honestly, I would expect more from a moderator on a tech related website. Moderators on Neowin moderate the front page comments, the forum posts and/or the IRC channel. We have dedicated staffers that deal with the behind the scenes/database stuff. Smaller sites may use their moderators differently. I'll take this opportunity to congratulate our Developers/Admins on nailing down this issue rather quickly. They do an excellent job of keeping a very high uptime on this site. This type of issue is a rare aberration for us. Cobra 1 Share
