The other problem with the weapons is that the way they've designed them and the way the enemies are structured, they try to force you to switch weapons. The auto pistol is useful for taking down shields and barriers, but is weak against armor, the heavy pistol is weak against barriers and shields, but cuts through armor like butter.

I'd rather choose a weapon I am confortable with and use that rather than switching. I'm playing an Infiltrator (just like ME1) and I prefer to run around with my pistol to take down weak enemies and work in close and have the sniper to fall back to for distant enemies and bosses. I hate having to switch between pistols in order to make the most efficient use of the limited ammo available.

In other words....Sethos, I feel your pain. :(

I just use my automatic pistol for 90% of enemies. Armor or not, it does enough (with upgrades) to kill them before I run low on ammo. If its a boss enemy than I switch to my sniper rifle and kill it in 2-3 shots (seriously, the final boss in the game used up all my heavy weapon ammo

to take it down a little over half, roughly 40% or so, then my sniper rifle with its upgrades finished it in like 3 shots). Sadly the sniper rifle only has like 14 shots, so it does run out of ammo quickly, but killing the biggest baddest enemies coming at you in a few shots is well worth it. You can kill Scions in 2 headshots, and Praetorians (only like 2 of these throughout the entire game) in maybe 5 shots depending on how quick you are to reload and re-aim at it.

I will agree in saying it is annoying that the game forces you to use certain weapons depending on the target, but I have found the ultimate sniper rifle and the automatic pistol to be all the weapons I have needed, with a little help from the heavy weapon (though I think the ultimate sniper rifle can do more damage than the heavy weapon, the heavy weapon uses less ammo to do the same amount of damage, and has more ammo to spare).

I had no problems with my first run through playing as adept but then all I did was spam warp and singularity now I'm playing vanguard on insanity and the second you pop your head up you get a LOT of rockets coming straight at you and every time I look my team is dead and I'm starting to go through a lot of ammo without warp and team mates to back me up, probably wouldn't be to bad if I had the sniper the annoying thing is I wanted to pick up the AR later on and try just using guns this time but without the sniper can't see me doing it but charge is brilliant and a lot of fun but not much use on insanity level might restart as Soldier. :pinch:

Agreed, they should have bound sprint and cover to the same key (as you often sprint for cover), with space being jump even if you can only jump when something is directly in-front of you and in your way. Its ridiculous to have to duck behind something, then jump over it when in the later levels you have to go up multiple platforms to get to your goal at times. I remember when I was helping out Garrus, I had to duck-jump up like 3-4 levels with no enemies around or anything, it simply looked retarded.

Now that you guys mention it, that is probably my only complaint about the game. There were certain areas you had to jump up many times in a row, but instead of just jumping, I had to cover, jump, cover, jump, etc. Quite stupid.

Just got the DLC for the PC version, and the new weapons and armor are pretty sick. Shepard's blue goggles look funny on him :p

For those of you complaining about limited ammo, if you have a membership at cheathappens.com, then there's a ME2 trainer already.

I went through the game with the smg, I just flick on warp or incindiary ammo if I come across an armoured target (but fully upgraded it shreds through anything)and for bossess jst pull out whatever launcher you've got on you and pew pew dead. I chose Assault rifle on vanguard but will have to try the sniper rifle next play since everyone raves about it.

got it for PC, same bug as the last one where you can't save you game was still there. Had to mess around with ini files and persmissions to get everything work. It's still not technically fixed, all i can do is resume the game, i can't load previous save game files or select a career. It's resume or nothing... good game so far though. Runs great on my rig, everything maxed out but AA doesn't work :s. 8800gt, core 2 duo @ 3.0ghz and 4 gigs of ram.

games saves fine for me in win7 64 bit with uac enabled. Sounds like you have somethin messed up on your computer.

the first one had the same issue. It has to do with having your documents folder on a different drive. Im running the same OS as you, but i am going to presume your save game files on the same HD as your install.

Also running the game on Win7x64 without issues.

Got my copies last night and gave both versions a bash (yeah I was crazy and bought 2 copies :p), I like the PC version alot more then the 360 one (graphics look great on both but significantly much sharper and crisper on PC), I'll still get many hours of good times out of both though :) Overall I love it, alot better then the original in *almost* every way. Most of the changes were for the better, for example the new combat system is epic and a huge step forward over the original. However, I'm still not sold in a few of the changes; the new galaxy map, not liking it at all (prefer the ME1 way of doing it), new leveling up system and reworked armour and weapons all seem a little backwards, seems they simplified it a tad too much (I'm guessing the main complaint from ME1 was managing all the stuff you collect as you had a 150 item limit, still not sure dumbing it down really "fixed" it though :unsure:) perhaps over time I'll come to like the changes....but for now, I'm still really enjoying it (Y)

As far as I'm aware, support for MSAA [in Unreal Engine 3] is exclusive to the DX10 rendering path. In DX9, it isn't properly supported. It is, however, possible - or at least it should be. I was able to force AA in Mass Effect 1 with my ATI Radeon HD 4870. I'm fairly positive I could do the same in Mass Effect 2.

I agree, though I do not fully remember how the galaxy map worked in ME1, it is kind of annoying having to "manually" fly the ship around the map in ME2. I also agree with your thoughts on the inventory system. ME1 was annoying with inventory management, but I liked being able to change things more easily. In ME2, to change your armor you have to go up to your commanders quarters just to swap out some armor pieces. You also have no control over your teams armor choices (they all have set stats). I assume this is because they wanted to base the loyalty missions to build off each persons unique features, so for example they were able to throw more damage at the player during Grunts mission, because he has high health and armor and the player was required to take him, but it is still very freaking annoying. I wish I was able to put together different parts of armor, or at least have a few options (like armor sets) for each person. Sure you can change the color scheme of their outfit (or change the outfit all together) once you have them loyal, but that is very limiting.

EDIT: Ah yes, the zoom-in/zoom-out, that was a much better way of handling the galaxy maps. I think their reason for doing so is because we (currently) do not land on non-major planets like we could in ME1, instead we simply scan them. Instead of forcing a player to zoom-in/out and selecting a planet to fly to it, they seem to have wanted us to be able to more precisely control where we went. It was a neat idea, being able to allow us to better control the flow of events, but it is much more annoying than if we could simply zoom-in/out and not have to fly to the mass relay in each system.

I don't like the way weapons and armour are handled in ME2. I prefer the way it was handled in ME1, where I could swap out various weapons and armour from Shepard (and my squad).

That's what I got out of it but I just wanted to know what happened to the

Ammo is a pain in the arse in this game, I prefer to settle on preferred weapons, and I'm talking standard weapons I'm not running around saying I want to use a rocket launcher all the time.

But you most certainly should be able to buy ammo at the space station, or stock up points on certain planets.

But my biggest gripe with the game is that you don't/can't level up during a mission. You only level up after a mission on that debriefing screen. That is a terrible design choice. Experience points and levels are now moot. They should have just gotten rid of them and given you a certain number of squad points after each mission. The missions feel like disjointed parts, and it doesn't "flow" well. It really feels like a step backwards when compared to the first game.

All that being said, the story and combat are great so far.
