what do you mean choose between her and the other? are you talking about miranda confrontation or something different? I never chose jack for anything or any mission really...

yeah If your Paragon/Renegade skill wasnt high enough and you HAD to chose between Zero and Miranda then you loose the others loyalty and they arent gonna make it back from the mission. You can also still loose people if you choose the wrong people for the roles in the final mission but gotta make some pretty out there choices for that to happen.

Any one know if there is a way to make the pop-ups in the lower right-hand corner stay visible longer? I started a new game yesterday and I had like a dozen of those windows appear and disappear quicker than I could read them.

So far it's great, although the ammo thing kind of ticks me off. I don't understand why the clips can't be re-used. The heatsinks from ME1 cooled down about 10 seconds after the gun overheated. Why can't you have like 3 or 4 thermal clips and continually rotate them as you fire? They shouldn't be as disposable as they are.

Depending on what difficulty you are playing but on normal and the one up from that I found ammo to be pretty plentiful. Use your powers more to compensate if youre running out. Although not having played 1 perhaps I would feel the ammo was an issue but eh,

I definately loved weapon system in me1 as well...infinite ammo, many gun types.

The system feels reduced.

Yeah I find having to find ammo in ME2 very annoying. Some parts there's excessive ammo, other times there's not enough. I would rather have a cooldown.

So far I'm about 6 hours into the game (just recruited the professor), and I'm overall really enjoying it.

I find the amount of popups to be a little annoying, especially in the middle of combat, where, at this point, they still distract me somewhat. I'm also not sure I really like the new combat mechanics. Not being able to view your health and not being able to heal on demand is going to take some getting used to. I'm also not liking the "thermal clips." I'm playing on veteran and I'm only 6 hours in and have run into several areas where I've been very short on ammo - I guess it adds some tactical element to the combat, but as an Infiltrator, my options are already limited as far as weapons and ammo.

I'm also finding the object highlights to not be as noticable as they were in ME1, and all the text is smaller (obviously tuned for an HD display) and given that I still have an SD TV, they can get hard to read at times, especially the popups that aren't there for long.

I'm actually liking the new item system for the most part - it takes one thing out of the game that I found rather annoying - ensuring everyone has the best weapon/armor and upgrades appropriate to the fight. Now we have ammo powers so we don't have to worry about swapping out ammo upgrades, etc.

All that is really minor gripes, and overall I'm loving it - definitely GoTY material.

How funny is the professor love the logic they gave the character smile.gif also why is there no option to skip the whole start cutscene and walk about, makes experimenting with classes very very annoying.

I am loving the game but the limited ammunition is bloody annoying! Yes, there is quite a bit of it around but it comes in bursts. I'd love to go crazy with my pistol

but that's impossible considering it only holds like 24 shots in total.

That will suck for me as I used the pistols more than any other weapon in the first game, regardless of class. This makes playing as a pure soldier even more useless to me, but thats my preference. Sentinel FTW!

I played for 6.5 hours last night in my first sitting. The game is magnificent, and has one of the most compelling openings to a game I've seen. My girlfriend woke up from her sleep just to tear me away from the TV and to remind me I had work in the morning LOL. I ended my game

getting drunk with the doctor

. How fitting.

I guess they want us to utilise biotic/tech powers more :D

I have had no problems with ammo. I mostly use my automatic pistol though, not my heavy pistol, but I have ran out of ammo with the automatic pistol maybe once or twice through like 24 hours of gameplay. And both times I still had my heavy pistol to fall back on, and that lasted long enough to fill up my ammo.

Now playing from a save where I am starting with warp ammo (like +40% damage or something) I have found most targets take like 2 shots with the heavy pistol to kill (early on but still much less than without warp ammo).

The key is do not be stupid, if you are fighting a big boss, of course your pistols are going to suck, thats why you have a heavy weapon and at least 1 other weapon type (in my case a sniper rifle) which literally does the damage of a clip of pistol ammo in a single shot to the head. If you are fighting something big, use bigger guns, for the normal enemies use your machine pistol (with good aim a single clip can kill a few normal enemies, and you easily have 10+ clips with the stock automatic pistol), if your fighting stronger enemies than use your heavy pistol. Try not using a single gun throughout the game and you will have no ammo issues.

EDIT: Or for that matter, let your squad kill some. They do not use ammo, so if they kill a majority of the enemies you will not have to shoot but a few rounds into an enemy (I know this is the boring/lazy way but still). Mostly just vary what weapons you use, use bigger weapons for bigger targets. Playing infiltrator (no biotic powers besides Incinerate which I did not get) and I have only ran out of ammo on a single weapon maybe 2-3 times, and one of them I was accidentally using my heavy pistol when I should have been using my automatic pistol.

If you actually hit your targets you won't run out of ammo so quickly :p

I probably have a better aim than you.

Thank you for the lengthy guide but the problem isn't bosses and whatnot, it's the fact there's swarms of enemies and I don't want to keep scrounging ammo from every corner, I don't want to keep using different weapons - I just want to use a weapon I like and not having to

conserve ammo constantly. So I'm just saying, I don't like this new approach and definitely not with such tiny clips / mags.

Than maybe you are using the wrong gun at the wrong time? You say you do not want to switch weapons and what not, maybe you should walk around with the machine pistol and only pull out your heavy pistol on larger enemies? That is honestly the main problem here, you are hoping to walk around with your more powerful pistol and blast away enemies without worrying about ammo (which obviously isn't working out well for you by the sounds of it), rather than using a weaker but faster firing pistol and worrying much less about ammo.

Also, try positioning your squad close to you (forcing them to stay close) and let them clear out the weaker enemies while you focus on the boss. I do not know just how far you are in the game yet, but from the sounds of it you are fairly early in the game. The swarms you have seen so far are nothing compared to the swarms you will run into later, if you keep using the heavy pistol your going to run out of ammo before you make it through a single swarm (granted, in the higher-swarm areas there is more ammo to pick up but still)...

Jesus ...

I'm not saying I keep running out of ammo at every turn - My gripe is there is not enough ammo for you to run around and have fun with a single weapon, because each weapon has limited ammo and ammo drops / pickups can be far and few in between at some points!

I DO keep changing, I HAVE to keep changing - All I'm saying is; I don't like that, the shotgun is boring, the assault rifle becomes boring really quickly because that's the only weapon that seems to have enough rounds constantly and the heavy weapons are just as

boring as the shotgun.

It's about wanting to whip out the pistol and have fun - I wasn't asking for a guide, I know how to play the game, I'm just discussing a point to the game I dislike compared to the first Mass Effect where we had unlimited ammo.

Maybe its just me but I have plenty of fun with the automatic pistol which also has plenty of ammo....I also tend to enjoy pulling out the sniper rifle and 2-shotting big targets (such as Geth Primes) when need be. I understand you are trying to have fun with the pistol, but there are different pistols that you can use, some of which have much more ammo and are much better for swarms.

Yes but that's the problem, I don't like the weapons you like so it's all a matter of personal preference - I like using a slow shooting, hard hitting pistol because it's fun to use, an automatic pistol and all the "fun" is down the drain.

The other problem with the weapons is that the way they've designed them and the way the enemies are structured, they try to force you to switch weapons. The auto pistol is useful for taking down shields and barriers, but is weak against armor, the heavy pistol is weak against barriers and shields, but cuts through armor like butter.

I'd rather choose a weapon I am confortable with and use that rather than switching. I'm playing an Infiltrator (just like ME1) and I prefer to run around with my pistol to take down weak enemies and work in close and have the sniper to fall back to for distant enemies and bosses. I hate having to switch between pistols in order to make the most efficient use of the limited ammo available.

In other words....Sethos, I feel your pain. :(

While I understand how lack of ammo can mess things up, I have yet to experience it. The lack of ammo, that is. Everywhere I go its loads of it. And its on veteran. Also - teammates and their skills help. Just use Mordin to burn through armor or miranda/garus to take down shields. Also there are various ammo types that can be extended for whole team. Plus it seems that all biotic powers are supercharged since me1.

    • This got me thinking, would you rather a self driving car prioritise protecting its passengers or everyone else? I'd choose the one that keeps me and my kids safest. At some point, these cars have to make those choices already, don't they? Wonder if we have a way to find out what way they lean.
    • The proportion (or number of iterations) has nothing to with this aspect of Copyright I am describing. In short, it doesn't matter how many times the manager tells you to change something or how. Your work product is always YOURS until and unless you then assign that to the person representing the client/company, usually for financial compensation -- either in salary or as a subcontract work for hire payment. if iterations determined copyright, then businesses would have learned to just keep making changes until they could claim they owned the copyright, without having to compensate the artist for their work. And that would be BAD. The only place where the amount of changes does have a role is in how much does a human modify a previous public domain work (from any source) before it is considered fair use or their own work, etc. For example, if a human makes substantial changes to a public domain (re: AI, by definition) work, then they can then claim that derivative work as their own...but NEVER the original version, of course. That's why anyone can make a movie about Dracula, for example, as long as it is based on the public domain novel, but not if they take new ideas from copyrighted movies made afterwards. As one of the people who personally advised the US Copyright Office on their recent ruling on these very issues, be assured that I specifically used the terminology precisely -- though I made it simple enough for laymen to understand it. If I made this confusing by doing so, I apologize. But, to be clear regarding your assumption that I would agree to your second statement that I quoted above -- the answer is NO. If AI does the work, no matter how much "direction" you give it, it cannot be copyrighted. All AI generated content is in the Public Domain and therefore the copyright cannot be assigned to ANYONE, even you -- until and unless substantial modifications are made to it BY A HUMAN BEING (yourself or a contracted artist/writer/etc.) and then that copyright on the derivative work is legally (in writing) transferred to you. This is a critical distinction. And it is important that people, especially AI sloppers, understand this. For example, YouTube is not paying AI slop generators for the copyright, etc. of their AI slop. What YouTube is doing is sharing AD REVENUE for permission to publish your AI slop. Copyright/ownership/rights never come into it. Importantly, that means that anyone can copy any AI slopware on YouTube, etc. and rehost it anywhere they want, even back on YouTube, and there is nothing legal that YouTube can do about it with regards to copyright protections, ownership, DMCA, etc. Anyone is legally free to use any AI slopware in any way they want. When this ruling was pending, I warned Disney legal of all of this before they did their OpenAI deal -- that it would literally dilute their entire IP portfolio forever. They ignored that warning for the PR and stock bump. But that is why, when the ruling came down last year, Disney quickly extricated themselves from that OpenAI deal, even eating the initial upfront fees -- followed closely by OpenAI ending their entire AI video generating business model. They adjusted their PR release dates to make this less obvious to shareholders, of course. Phew. I hope that this clears up the key distinctions for you and anyone reading. If you have any additional questions or even hypotheticals about AI and Copyright, please feel free to ask.
