[Official] Mass Effect 2

What are you playing ME2 on? On the PC, you just need to sign into the bioware site, and there should be a link to download all the DLC you are entitled to.

Once you download all the files, run the installer for each file and the next time you play ME2 you'll get an email in game to let you know the armor is available.

Just have to say, Mass Effect 2 is an amazing game. I got my copy for the PC on Thursday (1 day early), and I'm loving every minute of the game so far. Just started doing some of the characters loyalty missions, I've just completed Miranda's mission, but not got back to the Normandy yet.

I loved the first game, and this one is much better, even though some of the RPG elements have been watered down somewhat.

Anyone on the fence about picking up Mass Effect 2 should definitely buy it. Your missing out if you don't!

I got it worked out, but thanks. :)

Right now I am playing as a renegade and am wondering if it is worth the 50,000 platinum to take the scars out of my face. Do the scars impact the story, or is it merely aesthetic

I'm guessing there's an upgrade to allow you more than 25,000? If so how do I get it :)

Thanks

As for your question I have no idea but I think I look bad ass with red eyes and red glowing scars :p Still let me bang both chicks

I think you can get more than 25K. It just fills up at that point. I had about 30K+ Platinum once, if I remember correctly.

I think it is from Miranda, simply ask all your crew members about possible upgrades for the ship and you will unlock it. I personally did not know there was a limit......the bar for how much you have stays the same showing only 25k total, but you can go over that limit (at least, with the upgrade you can). I always thought the upgrade though simply increased the amount of materials you can find on a planet. Either way, yes you can get more than 25k.....heck, on your second playthrough (new game after completely beating it once in another career) you start with 50k of everything including element zero (which is crazy, the most element zero I ever had in my first playthrough was like 8k, and I didn't have crap for upgrades requiring element zero because I could never find it).

I have no idea why those bars show only 25k, but due to my habit of scanning every planet once I enter new system i ended up with like 130k palladium (i guess) at one point.

Beat it in 27h, completed all quests, side quests with 100% paragon, all crew loyal, and no one died. Chose to screw cerberus and blow the collector/reaper base. Illusive man was POed haha. I CANNOT wait for ME3!!

how did you manage to save

legionaire and others

on the last mission?

On my playthrough legionaire, garrus and grunt died :(

Make sure your ship is fully upgraded (spare med-bay) and try to upgrade all armor/weapons and anything that's specific for a member. Mordin's omni-tool, Legions sniper, Grunts shotgun etc. And keep 'em all loyal and make sure you pick the right people for the right jobs. I forget the link, but there is a site that lists all possible ways to use your member's and have 'em all survive.

Miranda leading the fire team, Tali on pipes, Garrus leading distraction team, Samara on shield from swarms, jack to take crew back and sacrifice herself (did mission for her but wasnt loyal, knew she'd die here) final team: Grunt, Me, Miranda. Only one that died was Jack. I saved the base thinking it would be good for humanity but all your crew tend to disagree afterwards. Im blowing it to hell this playthrough

You do not need the med-bay upgrade, I had all the others but I am not sure if you actually need them. I also only upgraded things that would help an Infiltrator Shepard and nothing else period, and all my members lived (did NOT get Mordin's omni-tool or anything and he lived fine). Only person I lost was Jack who was not loyal at the time (did her mission but ****ed her off when she went after Miranda).

I actually had Garrus lead the fire team (later on he lead the distraction team), with Legion in pipes (he is a geth, he should be able to hack just about anything), then Samara to shield, and Jacob to lead the crew back. Only one who died was Jack, who was not Loyal.

In the end just be smart about who you pick for different parts of the mission, and have them all loyal and they should live without a problem.

I just completed Mass Effect 2. I got an absolutely fantastic framerate playing at 1920x1200 (2xAA) with everything else maxed out. It took me 38 hours to find and complete every side mission, romance one of the female crew mates, unlocked every crew member and earned their loyalty. Great sequel but the cheesy cut scenes towards the end of the game with mismatched background music dulled the experience slightly.

Potential GOTY. It's still going to be a fantastic year for gaming with sequels and new additions to franchises such as Splinter Cell, Mafia and others. I'm looking forward to ME 3 after completing a second play through with all the downloadable content released using my imported Shephard from ME1 that I used for ME2. Cheers to Bioware for a fantastic effort and a new step in video gaming. It's Lord of the Rings meets Half Life 2 and The Matrix.

Just completed the game and ...

What a complete and utter disappointment! I mean, throughout the game I constantly had this niggle in the back of my head "It's like I'm playing a Third Person Shooter with a few RPG elements on top" and I kept trying to suppress that thought by thinking of the epic ending or the awesome scenes which Mass Effect 1 had plenty of. I get towards the ending, it's slowly building up from the usual grind and killing millions of soldiers / monsters and whatnot and then ... Nothing. Actually that's a lie, it doesn't build up anything you just got to kill a lot more.

It has to be the most **** weak ending I'v ever seen - I apparently made the right decision to keep my entire crew, I see Joker handing me something, see a bunch of ships in a CGI, I talk to the Elusive man for 2 MINUTES!!!! and the Credits roll?!?!!?!?!?! ... ?!?!!??!?!?!?!? Throughout the entire ****ing game I've been basically grinding areas, killing tons and tons of mobs, gotten so few conversations, choices and this is how it ends?

They ruined this game to suit the tards of today, not much talking, not many choices, not many decisions to be made and no major events happen - It's mostly just shooting, shooting, covering, shooting and then some more shooting. It's basically Gears of War now.

This went from possible GOTY material to disappointment of the year for me and I will henceforth refuse to classify this is a RPG game but a TPS ( Third Person Shooter ).

I disagree with that I think there is quite a few big decisions you get the choice over that will obviously impact ME3. Dialogue options appear no less than ME1, if contrasting this to DAO then yeah you have a hell of a lot less but that would be an incorrect comparsion. In terms of it being a 3rd person shooter I can somewhat agree with that, it does appear they went too far in that direction from RPG and the combat system can get quite repetitive.

I liked the ending though, swarm of reaper ships just about to descend upon the galaxy is epic or if you disagree with that its a setup for an epic ME3 to cap off this particular story arc in the universe (since they have stated there will be other ME games beyond this arc)

2nd parts in trilogies usually work like that. Be it a game or movie. But still i highly disagree. ME2 didn't force you in as many dialogue based missions perhaps, but that doesnt mean they werent there and there was any less dialogue. If you prefer hard numbers its about 20 000 lines first installment to 31 000 lines in ME2. Also the way I remember there are way more hard, storyline changing options here than in first.

And as far as action parts go - well, call me a tard, but I prefer it this way, as far as action peaces are nice and fun, with a bit more variety, unlike me1, that i find rather dull and stiff. Especially now, after me2 trying me1 again every time there is some kind of shootout or something, it feels really tedious. In a way like going to dentist - you don't like it but you have to do it.

My friend just called me up, he knew I was very excited about the game and asked me for my final decision before buying the game - Gave him the jist of it and he decided to pre-order BC2 instead

( Below may contain some mild spoilers, I don't want to wrap everything up in spoiler tags as it looks stupid )

I haven't felt this disappointed in a long time, spent the last few hours going over the game in my head and it's not getting better. I keep going back to those crossroad choices that are about as subtle as a hammer-blow to the face and the effect seem so short term. Not to mention everything carried over from Mass Effect 1, the choices, many of them appears to be so subtle like someone disliking you or a few conversation changes here and there or even a general opinion towards the "Human race" which doesn't add much of an impact.

The game would be about 2 hours long if it wasn't for the constant fighting, constant swarm of enemies hiding and having barriers and armours just to prolong fights beyond what's necessary. I remember quite a few moments from Mass Effect 1 where I was surprised by what I saw, where the conversations took me and how the story unfolded - This time around everything is so predictable each step of the way! The story is so weakly outlined; Recruit team, do some generic mission that involves 20 minutes of shooting and 2 minutes of conversation to make them loyal and then on to the next only broken up by the occasional interesting mission; like the trial etc. and even that was short as well - I got to say 3 lines, had to take off and shoot more mobs only to come back and say one line.

I had honestly expected the return of shepherd to be more interesting, bit more grand but everything is basically; "Hi Shepherd, haven't seen you for 2 years", "Oh, Cerberus brought me back", "k - Now I have a mission for you". I hadn't expected you to be thrown into the arbitrary mission progression so quickly without much impact. I'm not even going to go in-depth with the upgrade system, the planet scanning and the travel system because that is even weaker than everything else, not to mention the planet scanning is about as much fun as seeing a 90-year old woman fall and break her hip.

The only strong points of the game are the graphical engine and the voice acting, they really stood out but on the overall the game is a massive disappointment due to some weak links throughout. Normally you forgive weak points to a game if the strong points overpower, but if they don't, the opinion changes dramatically.

I was already preparing for my second play-through as a 100% renegade before I even completed the game, because I knew the ending would leave my jaw on the floor but it certainly didn't, made me fall asleep more like it and I have already uninstalled the game - Something I rarely do.

This is what happens when I set out with a positive mind, expecting worlds and end up with a disappointment - It really hits hard.

Disclaimer: This is my own opinion, not facts that are supposed to be argued and corrected.

Curious was anyone else disappointed with the Quarian migrant fleet? they've bigged it up since the first game and made it sound epic was looking forward to Talis mission where you could see it and then it only showed around 10 ships :pinch:

According to lore: The Migrant Fleet consists of roughly fifty thousand starships that house seventeen million quarians. The Fleet is so large it can take days for all the ships to pass through a mass relay.

Its fair to say what you see in-game is only a small portion of the Migrant Fleet.

    • The original word arts were far more awesome! With their own preconfigured fill patterns, 3D layout, etc, with options to fine-tune their size and colors as desired. I especially loved the ones circled below and still miss them from my primary school years: I frankly use them less these days 'cause the new one isn't as straightforward fine art as what we originally had, taking time and effort to get back to the same graphics quality as the original offered, which I simply don't have enough of for merely fine-tuning my presentation titles. Same with the built-in picarts selection. Bring back the original pre-configured options for word art then I'll be using them far more frequently in my presentations even today.
