[Official] Mass Effect 2

Minor spoiler:

I found a Geth Pulse Rifle on Haestrom (Tali's recruitment).

It rips through shields like a hot knife through butter. Does anyone know of a site that lists the locations of all the anomaly missions?

Mass effect wikia has links to all the anomalies where all the upgrades are etc. and I believe you only get the Geth Rifle if you're playing on hard or Insanity, you can also get another machine gun if you play soldier, you get it on the mission which gives you the option of picking another weapon.

I missed out on a fair amount of anomaly missions. Thanks for the links!

Took me roughly 2.5-3 minutes with little to no heavy weapon ammo. Half the time was probably spent hiding behind walls waiting for my healing to kick in (I guess it spits some kind of acid that delays healing or something, but it always took forever to heal after it hit you). Sniper rifles with high armor penetration are a great help here.

I had Garrus lead the fire team both times and he did fine.....the way I look at it, Samara mostly works alone so is probably a crappy leader, whereas Garrus has worked under my leadership in the past, so he should be at least halfway decent and could probably lead similar to me (in game-theory, at least).

that was my exact reasoning for using him

and the geth sniper rifle owns, go find anaron

Say what?

If you're talking about the X98-e Widow Anti-Material Rifle (Legion's weapon), then I already researched it. I think it's the same one you can choose on the Collector ship. I chose the M-76 Revenant Machine Gun instead.

But then again - didnt garrus kinda lose his team on omega? :p

Yes, because there was a traitor on his team who sold information to the enemy on where his team was hiding, and gave Garrus a false lead....it would have been similar to the collectors just flat out killing the entire Normandy crew when they boarded it instead of taking them prisoner and giving them a small chance of survival by leaving them alive. It wasn't Garrus's fault that his team got killed, so you cannot fault him as a leader for it IMO.

The M-98 Widow Anti-Material Rifle is the sniper rifle you get on the collector ship (basically the same as Legions), it only has 13 shots but they are extremely powerful. You can kill a Scion with only two shots with the proper upgrades and what not, and thats without even having max sniper rifle upgrades (think I had 3 or 4 out of 5).

I played as an Infiltrator my first playthrough (imported character) and played on the Veteran difficulty. I'm now re-playing on Insanity with a couple different characters since I never really messed around much with the classes in ME1. I'm finding it extremely hard without my sniper rifle. I never realized how easy the sniper rifles can make this game until I played a character without one. You may only get X shots with a sniper rifle, but if you're good with it, that's all you'll need in any given situation. Well, that and the Cain for the final mission.

Well since I beat it on the 360 already, I am buying it for PC and replaying ME1 and then ME2. Hopefully by the time I am finished ME1 the new DLC is out for ME2.

And yes wow Miranda is SMOKING! (Her real-life model is even better)

I'll have to get that one on my next playthrough. :p

I don't like that ugly tatooed skinhead :pinch:

She isn't a skinhead, haha. She's just "bald". By the way, is it possible to pursue same-sex relationships in the game? I was talking to Thane and Mordin and it seemed like they were getting a little too close.

I doubt. If it was possible it would be all over the place by now.

Just finished last night. Overall loved it. Don't play many games over again but this as well as ME1 i will be playing through many times.

Used Garrus for the fire team both times. Everyone survived. Could not get Miranda to be loyal again. Oh well just means i will have to play through again. I also kept the collector ship. I hoping for bigger and better toys. For most of the final mission I used Jack and Grunt except for the last part where I used Jack and Zaeed (Don't ask me why I changed). I was using Group Incendiary ammo and with Jack throwin down the biotics it was pretty easy.

Haha that was the case with me and Jacob, except he was acting rather annoyed like I was hitting on him. I was like wtf :s

Call me strange, but I love tats on women and think bald women can be pretty damn hot. Put the two together and Jack was the first relationship I pursued in the game - and since my import was a paragon, I chose the hard way to hook up with her.

Yeah there were a few times where the sniper rifle really helps out......huge monster coming at you, just scope and headshot and unless its a level boss its over halfway dead.....reload (if your using the Widow) and do it again and its dead. :p

It's so easy to get it on with Jack. Like, really easy.

Sure is, theres actually 2 scenes with Jack, the first one doesn't affect your ability to romance another, and IMO it is a better scene then the "proper" scene w/ Jack.

Installed ME2 to my 360 but haven't played it yet. Working my way through ME1, which I really want to finish. I've pretty much steered clear of the spoilers in the thread and even still, I can't wait to play ME2. My problem is once I start in on ME1 I want to play it for 4-5 hours at a time and it's hard with work, 10 month old, wife, house, etc to find that time. Jealous of all you buggers!

I've got ME2, but before I play it, I've got a question.

I did ME1 as an Engineer class (completed two playthroughs), and obviously, the downside to being an Engineer is that the only weapon you can use properly is Pistols. If I import my ME1 character into ME2, will I be able to learn an extra weapon? Because if not, I think I'll start a new character, unless there's certain achievements that can only be earnt through importing ME1 characters.

If you import I'm fairly sure you can change your class anyway.

Yeah, I'll get to that later on tonight. I was planning to play through ME1 some more until I got to Level 60 (currently 58), but then I saw how much XP I was away. 80K away from Level 59, and 280K away from Level 60. I did stick around to play the Pinnacle Station DLC though; I rather enjoyed it.

Ahern's special mission

was such a git though that after about half a dozen unsuccessful tries, I lowered the difficulty and I did it first try. :p

    • prices are insane its like 140 dollars more expensive, sigh
    • This seems backwards. You should have to explicitly authorize files for outside use. It shouldn't be the default.
    • Wow you are right, I never even noticed this until you said it! (870E Aorus Master) Before testing this card I had a TP-Link tx401 10GbE PCIe card in that slot (now using XikeStor 310 Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter).
    • Lack of 5.1 makes this a no sale. What I really wish creative would make would be a USB version that supports 5.1 analog audio for speakers, can switch to headphone mode, and matches the specs of their top tier cards. The current X870E AMD motherboards dont have a great option for adding a PCIE x1 card without cutting down pcie lanes to the graphics card.
    • The Microsoft Office feature that time forgot by Usama Jawad I have been actively using Microsoft Word for the past couple of decades in academic, professional, and personal capacities. Although I used it through the perpetual version of Office apps at the start, I have been an active subscriber of Microsoft 365 Family subscription for over five years now. This means that my Word installation is regularly updated with new features, some of which I don't really like, but that's beside the point. As new features get continuously added, old ones that used to be a staple of Word have started to take a backseat. While I was reminiscing over my Windows experiences from my childhood today, I suddenly remember one such capability that I heavily used in my younger years but have not really touched in over a decade, and haven't seen in documents created by others either. That feature is WordArt. Just to clarify, WordArt is not a Microsoft product specific to Word, and is included in other Office apps like PowerPoint and Excel too. However, Microsoft Word is the app that I used Word Art in heavily, while making assignments or other deliverables for school. If you're unaware, WordArt offers a collection of styling techniques for text, introducing 3D effects like shadows and reflections in the text. It used to be one of the coolest things ever when I was at school and me and my classmates would often compete to ensure that our assignment's title in WordArt was truly the best and stood out above the rest. See some examples of WordArt, still present in the latest versions of Word below: Although WordArt is undeniably cool, it has taken a bit of a backseat, and has been relegated from the Home tab to the Insert toolbar, along with a bunch of other utilities, making it very easy to miss. This isn't exactly surprising because WordArt doesn't really have a place in academic and professional documents anymore, and while I have seen some creatives using it while developing promo material, even that sector has gravitated more towards dedicated graphic designing tools in the past years. For the vast majority of us, WordArt doesn't really exist, and that's alright. At least, it's still an option that can allow us to reminisce our childhood or even make some quick text stylization, if we really need it. Perhaps its usage has waned over time or the novelty has worn off, but I haven't even seen children use it in their academic assignments anymore. In fact, many don't even know that it exists. Maybe that's the fate of every beloved feature. What once felt cutting edge eventually becomes a relic, quietly tucked away as tastes, trends, and technology move on. WordArt may no longer dominate school assignments or decorate the covers of classroom projects, but for those of us who grew up with it, it remains a colorful reminder of a time when making text glow, bend, and cast giant shadows felt like the height of creativity. Hidden behind a few clicks in modern Word, it still survives not as a productivity tool, but as a small piece of computing nostalgia that refuses to disappear.
