Its sony all over again with the psp go, both created something that whilst aesthetically it looks nice, it's overall flaws and usefulness make it a dead duck before its even on sale.

that promo video was annoying. all those fancy positive wordings, and big smiles. its like there was a giant bag of money for them on the other side of the camera.

i liked that guy talking about the A4 processor or whatever. ooooo 1ghz.

then they show all these pictures and books and movies you can store on it. 64gb? lol i dont think so.

its just an ipod, but bigger. but, for what it is, its pretty cool. but i dont see it replacing anything i dont already have.

There's a video for that, this is taken from the Apple Event in September

I don't see the point, especially for people who are already owners of an iPod Touch or iPhone. I mean, besides the larger screen I can't see any use for it. But, I'm sure someone will find some use for it ha

Personally I'm quite interested in getting one, because I generally only use my laptop while on the sofa watching tv etc, but I don't even use that very often now and instead tend to use my iPhone - but it's a bit of a pain on the small screen, and the general slugginess of it. Having an iPad would be wicked for when I'm on the sofa, imagine a tv app designed for it showing your favorite shows and what times they are on (on the side) and the general guide on the majority of the screen.

It will also be handy for watching tv shows in bed or in work on my lunch break, reading books on my lunch break and in bed (and not having to worry if I've got the book with me).

Either way I was still slightly disappointed with it, mainly because the software (well the OS) seems to be rushed together. I imagine OS 4.0 (in the summer) will turn the iPad into a beast, and they'll probably release ones with cameras/more space then aswell. Multi-tasking, re-designed UI and the possibility of video converencing (iChat), iLife and more "desktop" applications with redesigned UIs or even natal-like facial recognision is probably already in the works.

OS 3.2 basically only added the customizable home screen background, ability to resize iPhone apps, etc. The massive screen of the iPad still only has 4 apps in a row! They're obviously holding back/not finished on OS 4.0 for when the new iPhone gets released in the summer.

I'm very interested to see what the 3rd party developes come up with, I've already mentioned a TV guide app would be great for it. Anyone else think of some types of apps that will really flourish on the big screen?

If you are on the sofa watching TV then why would you need another device to watch television shows while on the sofa? Talk about trying to justify buying one.....

Same thing when you are in bed...How many people DON'T have TV's in their bedroom? Very few I'm sure..

Trying to justify the validity of this device is becoming man epic fail. I'm not saying that it's the worst product out there but I believe their are better ones.

Do I like it? Yes I think it looks very nice and I think the software is the best part of it. Everything look smooth.

Do I want want? Well it would be nice to have one. I kinda want it but I don't think I'm going to get one right now. What I really want is that calendar app in my Mac. Looks 10x better than iCal.

Try reading my post. I wont be watching TV on it, but using it as a TV guide (I currently use TiotiTV on the iphone which sends you notifications 5 mins before your favorite programs start, allows you to mark favoroite programs etc). It was just one example of a use I WOULD HAVE for it. Everybody is different, and iif the iPad is of no use to you then don't get one.

Same with the "in bed" example I used (again this only applies to me really, just sharing how I would use an iPad), I always browse for about 15 mins on my iphone (check twitter/neowin/etc) just before going to sleep every night at the moment anyway. It would obviously be better to do it on an iPad due to the screen size. In terms of watching TV in bed, I have a PC which has xbmc installed (although sometimes I just watch media in WMP, but then I have to get out of bed and turn the PC off when done). There's an XBMC iPhone app which allows me to control it (as a remote). And I'm repeating myself here, but an XBMC iPad app would be 20x better because of the screen size and the way in which it could show much more data.

/end rant.

an ipod is more functional then this mess!!!:.

atleast its very portable.

they just made another market with this product..

something between a netbook and a smartphone...

i dont get it..

i was pretty sure it was going to be a netbook replacement with all the hightech stuff i imagined.. and i was pretty sure it would run on OSX..

Another thing is i dont understand who did the research for this product?

I'm willing to bet that within 2 years it will sell more than any other TabletPC based on the Windows Platform (Windows XP Tablet edition, Windows Vista and Windows 7)

Only because it has the Apple Logo on it, NOT based on the product itself.

Personally I just don't get it, just what can I do on this that my Dell Studio 1440 can't do better, and without all of the DRM/Apple lock in.......

hey

So now with the isux, you need to buy a istand with it if you don't want to hold it all the time.(lame)

What they should have done is made a macbook air with the tablet swivel and sold as is. Yes i like the touch display.

What would have made the iPad better?

Multi-tasking, integrated phone functions (3G model only), built in SD card slots, slight Rubber trim for gripping, cameras front and back, voice activation, UI Customisation (beyond wallpaper)

What would have made me buy an iPad?

Slimmed down Windows 7, integrated Zune HD UI and syncing for media, open access to apps, as well as app-store, rubber trim for grip, stylus and handwriting recognition, SD Card Slots, USB Ports, UI Themes (Aero Glass colours and wallpapers), wi-fi built in with optional ethernet dongle, and multi-tasking.

Oops , ugh getting used to new but awesome iPhone version of these forums. Anyways, spot on man, needs more features and a standard desktop operating system to even begin to warrant a purchase!
