Pallab
Opera’s development team has been working overtime to ensure that Opera 10.5 for Windows is ready when the Browser Choice screen goes live in Europe. As a result, we have witnessed two beta releases along with a dozen snapshots during the month of February. Now, Opera Software has released Opera 10.50 RC for Windows.Opera 10.50 has been getting rave reviews around the web thanks to its improved UI and jaw-dropping speed. Check out our past articlesif you wish to know what is new in Opera. In short, the major new features include a brand new ECMA engine, Windows 7 integration, refined skin and a sexy user interface, private windows/tabs, geolocation and improved html5 and css3 support (including support for <video> tag). The Release Candidate build includes a host of bug fixes and skin tweaks along with support for seeking in HTML5 powered videos. Quite obviously, Opera has been prioritising the Windows build, as they want to offer their best when European users are given an opportunity to choose an alternative browser. This makes it likely that the final build would be unveiled within the next twenty four hours. via Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/879290-opera-1050-rc-for-windows-released/ Share on other sites
RvXtm
Yey! ... from what I see, the RC is not available on opera.com yet, but good news, opera is getting pretty sleek, the first true browser to feel native on windows 7. I've been a long time opera basher, "opera hahaha" style, but things are really starting to come together for them, i just can't forget the times when opera had ads in it for the unregistered version. elantheros
the first true browser to feel native on windows 7. ViperAFK
Man 10.5 is coming along fast :) EDIT: this build seems to have regressed a bit. I loved that they had moved the trash button on the tab bar all the way to the right in the last build and now its back in that weird spot before the window buttons :( And the lighter blue color for the tabs looks ugly. PreKe
It's definitely not read yet. It crashes when I try to mute videos, and I get this weird error message about DEP. I know that other people have these problems too, so it's not just me. elantheros
He said the first true browser. :p Can't say I understand the IE8 hatred. It's a decent browser, perhaps with more features out of the box than both Chrome and Firefox. If only they could make a portable version of it, I wouldn't mind using it as my main browser. And AFAIK it IS the first browser to feel fully native on Windows 7. Why not some credit where it's due? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/879290-opera-1050-rc-for-windows-released/#findComment-592292098 Share on other sites
x-byte
?Using it now. Looking good. Liking the improvements on the GUI. Also I can really notice speed improvements from beta 2. EDIT: this build seems to have regressed a bit. I loved that they had moved the trash button on the tab bar all the way to the right in the last build and now its back in that weird spot before the window buttons :( And the lighter blue color for the tabs looks ugly. 1. You can remove it and move it to another location. 2. I suggest you calibrate your monitor colors. Looks great on mine. DavidM
I've been a long time opera basher, "opera hahaha" style, but things are really starting to come together for them, i just can't forget the times when opera had ads in it for the unregistered version. Well, you could have paid and gotten the ad free version. Man 10.5 is coming along fast :) EDIT: this build seems to have regressed a bit. I loved that they had moved the trash button on the tab bar all the way to the right in the last build and now its back in that weird spot before the window buttons :( And the lighter blue color for the tabs looks ugly. Are you sure you are using build - 3291? Mine has always been on the far right next to the min, max and close buttons. My focus tab is the same color it always has been as well, the background tabs are now slightly transparent, is your background dark? It's definitely not read yet. It crashes when I try to mute videos, and I get this weird error message about DEP. I know that other people have these problems too, so it's not just me. I don't have any trouble with youtube, I can mute and unmute (is that a real word?) with no problems. Where are you watching videos? ViperAFK
My background tabs have never been transparent. In the new build they are this weird light blue color with black text. And the trash right now it is next to the window buttons, but I am talking about the last snapshot they moved it pas them so it was all the way to the right under the x button. and now its back next to them again (by minimize button) EDIT: It was the theme I was using (clearscreen sharp) When I changed to the default theme the trash icon moved back. Chasethebase Veteran Posted February 28, 2010 Veteran Share Posted February 28, 2010 Seems nice, UI is slick now finally BUT some sites still render without rounded corners. This makes me sad. Mamoun
I have to say that Opera is really impressive now; it got the speed, the "looks" and it always had the features. I wasn't an Opera fan before, but now with that development rate and direction it tops every other browser out there. If Opera ever had "proper" extensions support, it would easily makes the greatest browser on Earth, that's for sure! ViperAFK
For me, if I maximize the window, the Trash icon is near the minimize button. If it is restored, it goes under the X button. Not for me unless I use the default theme. Also whether I am using the default theme or not my tabs hardly look transparent at all compared to screenshots I have seen. Even when I change to light wallpapers. It looks like its 95% opaque. No matter what theme/wallpaper I get this ugly hardly transparent pale blue color for inactive tabs. ack. The dark blue non transparent tabs looked a lot better. x-byte
Seems nice, UI is slick now finally BUT some sites still render without rounded corners. This makes me sad. That's kinda not Opera's problem. Coded for other browsers most probably. I moved my Closed Tabs button from the position before Minimize/Maximize button to the position right after search bar (below the default position) Yea, fits much better there. I always place it there myself. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/879290-opera-1050-rc-for-windows-released/#findComment-592292256 Share on other sites
Chasethebase Veteran Posted February 28, 2010 Veteran Share Posted February 28, 2010 (edited) Yea, fit's much better there. I always place it there myself. Waah! I moved the bin and now I have two, I can't remove either of them! :( Ah, found it, resetting the toolbar to default using a different button fixed it! Buendia
Too bad Opera doesn't have Reload tab option when right-clicking on a tab :( What does Create follower tab do when right-clicking on a tab? BoneyardBrew Member Posted February 28, 2010 Member Share Posted February 28, 2010 I really love Opera 10.50. To me, it seems to be even faster than Chrome. It's probably the 1 second redraw feature that waits a second before the page is displayed. Usually within that second everything is already rendered, so the page appears fully loaded by the time I see it. Quillz
Personally, I'm not sure if Opera 10.5 is ready for RC yet. There still seem to be some issues in the prior beta builds. I don't want Opera to have to release 10.5.1 hours after the initial gold release. Why not some credit where it's due? Most of the IE8 hatred comes from the incredibly subpar rendering engine. Not only is it slow as hell, it's not standards compliant, which causes massive headaches for developers that want to move forward with current web technologies in their designs (HTML5, CSS3, advanced JavaScript, etc).
