No i havent. i actually thought it was about medieval England and then those mystical creatures appeared out of nowhere :D

The Game of Thrones books (Song of Ice and Fire) written by Martin have taken some inspiration from the Wars of the Roses, a historical clash for the throne of England.

So it is a fantasy set in a medieval time, maybe similar to the King Arthur legends in setting but with a whole other story and background of course.

Just watched the first episode today. Some parts are good some are not...didn't like the whole perversion thing. feels unnecessary. Will give a few more episodes a try.

And why do you feel it was unnecessary?

I can understand that some people don't like the amount of sex and violence found in GoT but it's not unnecessary this is mostly the way it was back in the medieval days (and in fact it's not that far to the way it is in some countries today). The only scene i personally found unnecessary (mainly the length of it) was the lesbians scene. I felt uncomfortable watching this scene with my gf. I tried hard to not show interest in the scene  .

I like that the show doesn't make any compromise. I mean people who don't like the sex and violence will not watch it and others like me who don't care that much as long as it's made with respect will watch it.

The serie reminds of Paul Verhoeven's Flesh+Blood. Would be cool to see him direct one episode.

What a great series. I was hooked from the start. Now I just finished the second book and quickly moving to the next. Personally I like sex and there is just enough in the series (book and tv). The second series looks to be so much better than the first from just finishing the book. Some amazing scenes.

I got the first two books for Christmas and have since bought rest of the series. I'm sad now that I have finished A Dance with Dragons, but I still have season two to look forward to. Hopefully I won't have to wait until winter ends to read the next. In Westeros that is in case someone tries to correct me.

It's been a long time since I saw season 1, can someone tell me who's voice it is in the trailer? :p

Damn, another 3 months :(

Stannis Baratheon.

Dear God I'm excited about this! I got the first book for Christmas and I've been hooked on the books ever since. I'm about 1/2 way through book 4 and even though I've only recently read book 2, I can't wait to watch series 2 when it starts in April.

If anyone likes the TV series but hasn't read the books, I'd highly recommend reading them. I'm not really into fantasy books (only other one I've read is Lord of the Rings) but the Song of Ice & Fire series is absolutely brilliant.

Uh, what mystical creatures? The dragons don't appear til the end of season 1.

White walkers were right in the start of ep1.

Anyway i watched the first season and thoroughly enjoyed it! Cant wait for S2 :D

Nothing in the series was as disturbing as that brother and sis scene. its not the act..its the idea of it.

They do come back to life when Jon attacks them later in the series, so I guess that gives them a 'mystical' quality.

One of my favourite things about Game of Thrones/Ice & Fire is how little supernatural stuff there is in it. Generally, there are no big supernatural twists that jerk the plot off into a different direction but you can never quite rule it out.
