Just watched the scene again on Vimeo (can not post it here because of booobs) .... I think Selyse saw her in her true form but we, the viewers, still saw her as the hot redhead.  Or Selyse saw her as the young woman without the help of additional tricks for whatever reason (maybe her strong belief in the Lord of Light).  Or...the producers simply messed up.  haha

I'm going to go with the latter.

During the scene in the bathtub, if I remember correctly, she makes a point of using potions to achieve various tricks, and asks Selyse to hand her over a bottle of something. Flashforward to this scene, when she takes off the necklace, she puts it right next to a small bottled potion. I think the necklace alone isn't what does the glamour, I think it's just something that enhances her powers or effects of the trickery she uses. Remember the only other time that the stone glowed (I think) was when we were first introduced to her, and she drinks that poison, but nothing happens to her. That clearly didn't have anything to do with her glamour tricks, but it probably enhanced her "poison resistance" or whatever she did to avoid being poisoned.

Anyway, pretty much a typical first episode, save for the reveal at the end. The Dothraki were hilarious. Some pretty nice framing in this episode, I must say, some shots looked really great imo (the camera panning over arya but not showing her, then going back to reveal her, Ellaria standing over dead Doran, Jaime on the balcony). I hope this trend continues. And I hope they keep getting their budgets increased.

Needs more plot holes and blatant inconsistencies because teleporting Sand Snakes and disappearing dogs just won't do. Anyway, it was a typical post season 3 Game of Fanfiction episode.

The dogs ran away with one of the Bolton's guys. I know, because on my second watch I noticed they just disappear, so I went back an counted the kills. Could have been shown better, but it's not really a plot hole. The Sand Snakes definitely borrowed S2 Littlefinger's transportation device, but it can also be explained that they boarded a smaller, faster ship and followed them or something. The show does seem to be forced to take shortcuts with the amount of trimming they do, and they don't always do a stellar job with it, but oh well. Not their fault they're constricted to 10 episodes per season and the fact that the books won't be done for another decade, if ever.

Never said the dogs were a plot hole. As for the Sand Sankes, I guess they went the other way around the continent so they didn't get noticed (or perhaps they used a submarine), sort of like Yara "did" when she the attacked the Dreadfort. I just don't believe it takes rocket science to write out plot holes or that it even requires any source material for it.

Now you're just exaggerating. Come to think of it, they could have boarded any trading ships, or a ship pretending to be a trading ship to tail them, and that's it. It's not like they had radio communication on the seas and shared info on their passengers between different ships. No issues there.

And there's zero flaws with Yara's trip either. She takes off at the end of season 3, using the 'fastest' ship which they make a point of, and makes it I believe five episodes into season 4.

They could have also boarded a magical unicorn. Given that Myrcella was killed right off the coast Jamie and the crew would be on high alert coming from behind. I also doubt they took the scenic route at a leisurely pace with the corpse of his daughter rotting in the boat. Even ignoring this, I doubt any Sand Snake would get on a boat so soon after Jaime left. I do concede that maybe I'm thinking too much of the books where Doran didn't have only one loyal incompetent guard. In the end it comes back to bad writing.

Yara's trip being flawless is one of the most hilarious mental gymnastics I've witnessed when it comes to bad writing in GoT. There's nothing you can say that can save that pitiful display. She went more than the full length of the continent in "the fastest ship", which would presumably be a warship through potentially hostile waters like The Arbor, which don't like the Iron Islands very much I might add, with no snag whatsoever, only to finally reach the Dreadfort and be chased off by, what was it, 3 dogs and 2-3 men?

Ships from China took as few as 100 days to get to England all the way around around Africa (click). She leaves in S03E10, arrives in S04E06. She could have probably sailed twice around a smaller continent like Westeros in that time.

Anyway, I just realized I'm arguing the time it takes to sail around a nonexisting continent, so this is where I'll draw the line with that.

Back to the story, yes, the assault on Dreadfort is the prime example of where the show kind of asks of you to turn a blind eye to the ridiculousness of the situation, simply because they have to drive a point across quickly. In this case, they had to give Yara something to do, and they had to make her believe that Theon is dead, while she still knew that Reek is alive (quite possibly to create conflict for this season), and the entire fight came off as incredibly sloppy.

But I still think it's all minor flaws. So you can call it Game of Fanfiction, but in the same way, going forward, the books will technically be a novelization :p

I thought tonight was a solid episode.

Spoiler

but argh...Ramsey needs to be slaughtered for pig feed.  Hope he doesn't get a quickish death like Joffrey.  Such a vile character.

Saw the ending coming ... I'm sure we all did.  At least she didn't take of the choker to perform her magic. :)

    • Forza Horizon 6 gets another hotfix for one of the game's online modes by Taras Buria Recently, Forza Horizon 6 players discovered an interesting glitch that allowed farming a crazy amount of in-game credits in a few minutes. Playground Games quickly pulled the plug on the exploit by disabling one of the game's online modes, and today, the studio is rolling out another hotfix. In my review, I complained about the game still showering gamers with cars, credits, and wheelspins. As such, earning money in Forza Horizon 6 is not a particularly difficult task. You simply have to play the game, crazy, I know. However, people still found an easier path to becoming a billionaire in Forza Horizon 6. All you had to do was purchase the Hummer EV, install a specific tune, shift in reverse while going at about 15 MPH, hit a wall, and get launched into the stratosphere at the speed of light. While mid-air, launch Eliminator and quickly get eliminated. Boom, the game just awarded you with a few million in-game credits. Initially, Playground Games disabled Eliminator to prevent people from farming credits. Now, following the release of the first balancing update, developers are rolling out a new update that re-enables Eliminator and gives users a free McLaren Sabre as a gesture of goodwill. Here is the changelog: One critical issue remains unpatched, though. There are quite a few reports of the game wiping gamers' saves, and developers are still looking into that. To avoid potential data loss, Playground Games recommends taking one of the steps outlined in a previously published support article.
