PS3 controller is titled Move, says source

Ah Sony, I wish you would be more creative and create something on your Own.

The one thing I liked about the WII was they focused on making it Motion Based from the release, so they got it down, now it wasnt precise till the Motion Plus but still, they worked hard so they get credit for that.

Sony saying "we like consumers to think the transition from PS3 to Wii is easy" is bull****. You guys are ripping them off 1:1. Just say its a Playstation Wii and be done with it. Its also like Sony saying "we will have it fixed in 24 hours" and taking credit for it instead of saying "give the system/calendar 24 hours and it will automatically come back to life. Then go ahead and download the firmware update to fix said calendar glitch which was famous 10 years ago...

Wasnt that hard was it? But no sony HAS to make the public think there doing good.

This is in no WAY me protecting microsoft, I believe NATAL will be interesting but at the same time, until I see some Conference / E3 Demos of this year and how far its progressed I still believe leave it up to the Wii.

If NATAL ends up being what they said it is, and NO/minimal, VERY MINIMAL lag, ill go for it. Sometimes I would like to sit back and drive the car. But shooters should stick to controller.

That being said, Im happy Zippers making Socom 4, and hopefully its a REAL SOCOM and not Confrontation, hated that. But, I hope it keeps to controller support, thats one game I WILL BUY for my 60gig. Hell I own and play all the socoms time to time. Very fun.

Regardless, Hopefully sony adopts the PS2 Era into the PS4 era.

I still want to play Heavy Rain with Natal. I want to use my wife for the sex scene w00t.gifcool.gifno.gifohmy.giftongue.gif

Shooters should stick to the mouse.

Well thank you captain obvious, but as we are in the CONSOLE section and posting about CONSOLES, lets keep it ontopic with CONSOLE RELATED INFO.

I believe Shooters should be mouse/keyboard, but we arent talking abotu PC motion sensing, we are talking about CONSOLES, so console wise Shooters should be Controller not ONLY motion. If there both great, but i would like controller support. Where as COD for the WII is motion based, a lot of it is.

Okay, so I went to a dev session on Move.

Few things: it has milimeter precision x/ y, and cetimeter in Z, much better than the Wii. Also, with the Eye, it has headtracking and facial recognition. The different colors corespond to player 1 - 4, although devs can change the color to signify things, such as red for danger, or a flash for a gunshot.

It does have vibrate ;)

The devs were part of the Move team, and didn't have info on the nunchuck, so apparently that doesn't have motion detection, or at least is only gyroscopic. Would need a seccond dildo for things like the pic above.

The head is used similar to 3d movie mo-cap.

Everything can be done withe one SPU, so there's little game impact.

With the lights, it can run in the dark, but head tracking has to be done in light.

@ Zipper, it seems the Move beats out DS3 as far as winning matches, so they're trying to get balancing (ala M/Kb).

Where are all the cries of, "It's just fad, it'll never last"? I mean, come on; this is the most shameless ripoff ever. And it's twice as expensive as the first guy's motion-sensing remote. I'll give them the battery recharging, though. Nintendo needs to release the Wii-mote in a rechargeable version.

I'm willing to say that. Motion control is a gimmick. I'm disappointed to see other companies jump on this band wagon.

CAD is horrible, and you should feel horrible for posting it.

You COULD plug a keyboard/mouse in a CONSOLE, at least on the PS3.

Also, CUT the CAPS.

If you mean 1 frame or less, then yes. The lag can actually be built in by the devs, as well as precision (which, like I said, is in mm, sub-pixel).

Self-quote, but this is the point I was trying to make:

http://kotaku.com/5491493/sony-says-playstation-move-precise-enough-to-play-starcraft

But putting the Move controller's level of precision in terms most of the room could understand, Mikhailov said that they've been able to use the PlayStation 3 add-on as a device to control the PC version of StarCraft. While the company already has Move support working in the equally precision demanding SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs, if it works well as a mouse replacement, it might be worth picking one up.

They haven't announced an actual price yet! Only that a camera-controller-game bundle would cost $100 (which is actually very good).

And yes, it's a rip off in terms of its methods (whilst Natal is taking a different approach). But both Sony and Microsoft are taking a slice of humble pie and accepting the criticism rather than completely ignoring the Wii market. It makes business sense to try to capture that market.

Plus, Move has some really interesting technical capabilities that may help it appeal to more than just casual games. It's just the games that need to deliver.

Yes because people do use a mouse / keyboard in game on the ps3. Lets talk realistically, if you wanna get technically, ill get technical to.

Also, ill quit the caps if you realize what i meant? kthanks. Not that hard to admit you were wrong and didnt understand what I mean.

@Bhav: exactly. I mean I WOULD of loved sony to do something creative. I believe Natal is Creative. Will it be as precise, honestly hell no. But, it is a move in the unique direction. Did the WII get it right and dominate, YES. Is microsoft / sony taking a peice of humble pie, of course. But one company is doing a direct rip off and saying "well atleast ours is rechargeable / vibrates" while the other company says "look, we have worked hard and are planning on making it as PRECISE as possible" but unless the camera / algorithm is some new technology/coding none of us have seen, itll be as precise as you can make it, but not as precise as x/y and z on the move.

Again, Ill focus on natal if I see more towards release the lag is minimal. I would love no controls, thats what I see when I think about motion sensing. Always have for a long time, and always will.

The key thing is that we're still years away from accurately being able to track fingers/small hand gestures etc. Sony's implementation can actually do bodytracking whilst also using buttons for the finer, specific/important controls.

It really does come down to the games. From the dev session it sounds like they've got some really, really good ideas that totally trump the Wii, but they're all just concepts/ideas. GIVE ME GAMES :)

Unless you don't need the camera to use the Move, it's $100 for the Move system. You can spin it any way you want, but it's not like Nintendo sells the Wii-mote in a package with the sensor bar. The PlayStation Eye is an integral part of the Move; don't try to make out that the remote itself is cheaper. So yes, they've announced a price.

Yes because people do use a mouse / keyboard in game on the ps3.

UT3 was mouse / keyboard on ps3. The capability is built in, the problem is you need seperate servers which devs don't bother with, so only a few games support it. I'm sure FFXIV will support it.

    • Forza Horizon 6 gets another hotfix for one of the game's online modes by Taras Buria Recently, Forza Horizon 6 players discovered an interesting glitch that allowed farming a crazy amount of in-game credits in a few minutes. Playground Games quickly pulled the plug on the exploit by disabling one of the game's online modes, and today, the studio is rolling out another hotfix. In my review, I complained about the game still showering gamers with cars, credits, and wheelspins. As such, earning money in Forza Horizon 6 is not a particularly difficult task. You simply have to play the game, crazy, I know. However, people still found an easier path to becoming a billionaire in Forza Horizon 6. All you had to do was purchase the Hummer EV, install a specific tune, shift in reverse while going at about 15 MPH, hit a wall, and get launched into the stratosphere at the speed of light. While mid-air, launch Eliminator and quickly get eliminated. Boom, the game just awarded you with a few million in-game credits. Initially, Playground Games disabled Eliminator to prevent people from farming credits. Now, following the release of the first balancing update, developers are rolling out a new update that re-enables Eliminator and gives users a free McLaren Sabre as a gesture of goodwill. Here is the changelog: One critical issue remains unpatched, though. There are quite a few reports of the game wiping gamers' saves, and developers are still looking into that. To avoid potential data loss, Playground Games recommends taking one of the steps outlined in a previously published support article.
