^ I never get as many servers to pop up as you, your lucky. But I ALWAYS get ping, regardless 999(most likely a port issue on the server end) and normal ping numbers.

I've never played a game requiring me to open ports to see pings in the server browser. And my router never has issues with ports.

I've never played a game requiring me to open ports to see pings in the server browser. And my router never has issues with ports.

I said server side.... When I use to host games, even when I still do, if I dont have the right ports open everyone sees my ping as 999 or nothing. This is BF2 or COD4. Most games you host will do this because there not getting total information. If they cant ping you, the ping wont register.

I'm running Windows 7 and I only ever get ping when I run the launcher as administrator, are you. I really hope they fix that in retail.

You know what. I don't think I am. I am just running from the default icon from the desktop.

I am running win 7 x64 and I am launching the game from Steam. I see the pings in my browser pretty much all of the time, but when I'm looking at my server history I rarely see the ping. Another thing I would like to see is on my friends list, I'd like to see what server my friend is on and it's ping as well. Other than that I again repeat what I have said before, dx10 sucks for me running an HD4870 with cat 10.1 (10.1 broke everything for me, I hate you ATI) so I just change my dx level in my settings config file to 9 and everything runs pretty smoothly.

This game is really rewarding if you play tactically and help your team. I just got a 39/12 KD ratio and scored 14,843 points helping our team to win the round.

I also noticed if you get killed by a collapsing building it says killed by Destruction 2.0. :p

So I updated my Logitech G15 drivers last night and noticed when I went to join a game today that it showed up on the LCD.. Looks pretty sweet actually. Shows total stats, then server information, then once you actually join the server it shows your current game stats..

Nice, my brother in law is going to be psyched about this. I am currently helping him build his new gaming PC, in fact I think he finally purchased everything tonight, but he has the G15 from his last comp and is naturally going to keep using it. Besides catching up on a few games, and some games coming up, the main reason he is building this new gaming PC? Yep, Battlefield Bad Company 2.

Ok, thats a FANTASTIC deal and infact Barns&Noble is apart of gamestop, so gamestop is "the" seller, but I dont know how it works thou. All I know is, if you reserve something from barnes&noble we are suppose to some how have a list or etc.

Since our systems are different then theres I have NO CLUE on how it works, but all I know is, it was the only way to get the tournament edition stick for SF4 when our pre orders were up. So idk about this. I plan on finding out tomorrow and ill post back with the offical word. If its legit, im doing it.

Quite a few of you have noticed that Rush has taken its name literally with players rushing into objectives with C4 in some way i.e. Quad bikes, UAV etc.

This has been modified since the Beta you have and the full game requires significantly more C4 to take out the objective. This should put off those who run in with C4 on a suicide mission and favour those who arm the charges on the objective as the preferred way of progressing.

That's from DICE.

Edit: Apparently that's more than 15 C4 to take out a crate. :|

Thanks EA, thanks to every **** who bought the day one content for Dragon Age & Mass Effect 2. Thanks a bunch.

I can't wait till we get DLC which ruins multiplayer and I can happily say: "I told you so."

Paid DLC on Launch day? F-f-f-f-fail!

Wow. Just Wow.

Never thought it could happen, but DICE has gone done yet another notch in my book. Ironically it is this one specific games release that has caused all of the notches to begin with.

Blame EA for this, they're doing it with every game they publish. More depressing news is rumor has it that 2 out of the 12 maps due for release will be DLC only. Oh and if you don't buy the game new you have to buy them and since they will be in the multiplayer rotation you'll have to! :D

Oh and Ubisoft is forcing MP on as many games as they can to extend the life of them but that's another story for another thread.

Well, the article said there's free DLC as well.

If it's additional maps or modes, then I don't see that being all that bad. If it's guns or vehicles that give other players an advantage, then I say it is BS.

So they're doing something similar to ME2 where you have to buy it new to receive this conent?

Paid DLC, in the form of weapons, in a game like Bad Company 2 is a bad idea. It would give those players an edge over anyone that isn't using the weapons. Maps, I don't mind. At least if I'm not forced to buy it.

While I know EA is ultimately to blame, DICE does not have to stand by and pretend it is all peaches and cream IMO This is specifically in reference to the guy from DICE talking about how there is "really cool stuff" at the source Sethos posted.

And I am the first person that will recognize and understands the fact this is a business, and as such people are in business to make money. But Day 1 Paid DLC is just greed and nothing else. Hell, if someone has the game on Day 1, that means they support you, so is this really a good way to say thanks? At the very least wait a month to make the paid stuff available so it does not look like the total rip off that it is.

So yeah while EA may be the driving force, I cannot help but think if someone at DICE at the very least said hey why don't we wait just a bit before we start charging, perhaps they would consider doing so. Probably not, but I blame both parties equally, as DICE's name is also on the box.

Oh and I did see there will be free stuff as well, it should all either be free or not be there at all is my opinion on it.

EA have been doing this for some time and since DICE are an EA owned studio I don't think they have a say in the matter. Like it or leave and we'll find someone to replace you who doesn't mind. But I agree it's a joke. What really gets my goat is that people are so f-ing casual about it.

I'm calling it now BF3: "Rank 1-50! £10" on day one. ;)

Maps, I don't mind. At least if I'm not forced to buy it.

Well if 3 of your friends bought it new and you bought it second hand. You're coughing up for the maps. :(

This sounds all too familiar with the controversy with Bad Company 1, but at the end of the day noone had to pay monies for new guns on launch

I'll remain optimistic for now

Obviously the article sethos posted is a copy-and-paste job from this interview:

http://worthplaying.com/article/2010/2/9/interviews/72188/

And nowhere in that interview does it say that there will be Day 1 paid DLC

WP: Is there anything about the game that we haven't talked about that you wanted to add?

PB: One thing that's also very interesting is how we see our customers. We see the game as the first step to a longer experience. We have an in-game store where you get free content or you can buy new content to the game, so it's a very integral part of the game that we will have a long post-launch campaign. I think people will be thrilled to see what's in that already. On day one, you will get some really cool stuff.

WP: We saw the launch of Battlefield 1943 on Xbox Live Arcade, and that went well. Has there been any more talk at DICE about going back to those older PC properties for PSN and Xbox Live? Were you happy with what happened, or was it an experiment that didn't work out?

PB: It started as an experiment, but it turned out to be much bigger than anyone could have anticipated. I think we're the best-selling Xbox Live title ever produced, and we got pretty good reviews. The customer feedback has been extremely good. From that perspective, it's a complete success, and you never know what will happen in the future. It's definitely something that we got a good taste from, so you'll never know what happens.

What the hell, I didn't even know they were going to include Hardcore mode

My monitor just got covered in jizz.

Hardcore means that we double the damage of the weapons so it's more or less one shot, one kill. We remove most of the hub elements, so there's no reticle, no ammo counter, so in that way, it turns into a more visceral and realistic experience.

The game-mode for real men (Y)

    • First time clicking on a Sayan Sen article after he started making clickbait, vague headlines recently. Didn't read, just came here to say the headline doesn't look like very cheap, vague clickbait this time. Are you okay?
    • Good review, and yeah the benchmark breakdown is pretty clear but also a little messy in a good way. It’s kinda interesting to see where the RX 9070 GRE slides in between the 7800 XT and the 9070 XT , especially when it comes to AI tasks and Blender style workloads. The side by side with Nvidia’s RTX 5070 and 4070 makes it feel obvious just how competitive the mid range GPU scene has gotten lately, and that’s great for creators and gamers too since you can pick based on your priorities rather than only chasing one single thing.
    • That's it. I finally uninstalled Firefox because they often keep pushing buggy updates, only to test them later and make users suffer. No longer is it my alternative browser to Edge. What a waste of energy. Firefox is bad for the environment, just like Chrome (wasting RAM/energy).
    • Microsoft Weekly: new Surface, Windows 11 26H2, and more by Taras Buria This week's news recap is here, with Microsoft announcing Windows 11 version 26H2, launching new Surface devices powered by Snapdragon X2 processors, GTA VI preorder date and cover art, fresh Windows 11 preview builds, a quirky phone-sized e-reader with a physical dial, and more. Quick links: Windows 10 and 11 Windows Insider Program Updates are available Reviews are in Gaming news Great deals to check Windows 11 and Windows 10 Here, we talk about everything happening around Microsoft's latest operating system in the Stable channel and preview builds: new features, removed features, controversies, bugs, interesting findings, and more. And, of course, you may find a word or two about older versions. Windows 11 version 26H2 is now official. Alongside Windows 11's new preview builds released this week, Microsoft confirmed version 26H2, which is coming later this year as an enablement package based on the same platform as versions 24H2 and 25H2. A newly published blog post details what IT admins should do to prepare for the upcoming launch. Next, we have new Windows 11 bugs. Users report that this month's security updates for Windows 11 cause all sorts of issues, including BitLocker bugs, OneDrive issues, black screens of death, and third-party integration in Office apps. Microsoft has not confirmed those yet, but it acknowledged other issues with its operating system. What Microsoft has confirmed is a bug where Recycle Bin delete prompts display internal file names instead of actual ones, and a year-old Windows JScript compatibility bug caused by security-focused engine changes. Moving to more positive news, Microsoft and Adobe are working on improving Windows performance in popular creative apps like Photoshop. Thanks to SPGO optimizations, users can expect up to 20% better performance. Finally, we have a few useful articles that can help you recover your PC or make it perform better. For one, we published a guide detailing what to do if your computer cannot boot after a clean Windows 11 install. There are two important steps you can try to get your system back to working in no time. Additionally, there is a more detailed guide on various CPU performance modes that could notably improve performance. This week, Microsoft announced its newest Surface devices powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon X2 processors. There is the 12th-gen Surface Pro and the 8th-gen Surface Laptop. Both devices feature little to no visual differences compared to their predecessors from 2024, and most changes hide inside, including a better processor, faster graphics, enhanced NPUs, and more. The Surface Laptop also received a new haptic trackpad. Mozilla is currently working on a major Firefox redesign, and earlier this week, it published a roadmap of upcoming features and highlights of the upcoming "Project Nova" rework. Files, one of the best file managers for Windows 10 and 11, has been updated in the Preview channel with a long-requested feature. Tree View is finally available in version 4.1.4, allowing you to quickly browse deeply nested folders without leaving the main view. In addition, the update improved the Windows Fonts folder, allowing you to preview each font without opening the default viewer. Rufus, another useful Windows 11 utility, also received a notable update. Version 4.15 arrived as beta with important fixes for silent Windows 11 installation. It also includes patches for ARM-based Windows PCs, OneDrive removal improvements, and more. Reviews are in Here is the hardware and software we reviewed this week Earlier this week, we reviewed the DuRoBo Krono, a portable, phone-sized e-reader with some interesting physical controls. This device has an Apple Watch-like dial for page turning, frontlight adjustment, and more. Software is simple and no-nonsense, but it also lacks some useful features and customization. Overall, the device proved interesting, but not flawless. On the gaming side Learn about upcoming game releases, Xbox rumors, new hardware, software updates, freebies, deals, discounts, and more. Forza Horizon 6 received two big updates this week. Alongside the Series 2 content update, developers pushed plenty of bug fixes and balancing tweaks. However, they also had to acknowledge the Eliminator CR-farming exploit and shut down the online mode temporarily. Luckily, only a few days later, another fix arrived, which re-enabled Eliminator and patched the exploit. Microsoft announced new games for Game Pass subscribers. Those include EA Sports FC 26, Junkster, Call of Duty: Vanguard, Abyssus, RV There Yet?, and more. Some existing games are leaving the catalog, so be sure to check out the full list here. New games are also available for GeForce NOW subscribers, and they include Embers of the Uncrowned Demo, Aphelion, Megastore Simulator, OPERATOR, Citizen Sleeper, and more. Rockstart Games had plenty of GTA-related news this week. For one, the company gave GTA V players another free update. Those still playing the game on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are no longer required to pay $40 to upgrade to the latest-gen version. More importantly, Rockstar Games revealed the GTA VI cover art and announced the preorder date. The Epic Games Store is giving away two games: Citizen Sleeper and Roboeat.
