Really? When was the first time? It was just a joke anyways.

Sorry about that. Was a case of mistaken identity. Was also just waking up when I read it so not really that coherent. I had a member who kept quoting me whenever I mentioned Battlefield 2 and my playing style and this member was projecting everything they hated about the game at me assuming I was like those players they hated. I thought this was more of that again. My apologies.

This is interesting:

GameStar.de recently conducted an interview with producer Patrick Back. (Translated into English)

GS: What differs from the normal mode of hardcore game?

PB: The interesting thing on hardcore mode is that it applies to all game modes. By doubling the firepower of the weapons we need far fewer hits. Also there is no cross-hair, you can shoot only when you pull the iron sights up. The healing function is disabled, So you will have to find a medic to heal. Friendly fire will not be turned off and the killer camera is not available. It?s more realistic and more difficult.

GS: The amount of damage that can put away a player in BF BC2 compared with counterstrike is quite high. Why did you do it that way?

PB: If one adjusts the hardcore mode, you can say no more. . Then it becomes quite realistic. We find that?s not to be under attack time to react. It should be fun to be shot at.. In the single-player mode that is different. There, it?s okay if it is only enjoyable to others to shoot. We do not find that it?s fun to die right away, as soon as one is bombarded. Except the person who pulls the trigger. That would make the static game. Some would hide all the time on a hill, others for fear of being hit, how crazy constantly running back and forth. We want to make the game dynamic, that things are changing and the players are forced to try other business. You can not simply use an entire round to the same tactic, but you must remain flexible and try something new.

Hardcore sounds like fun, but did he really mean you can only shoot when you're aiming down the iron sights? Some times at close range you don't really need to do that.

I think it just means you won't have any cross hairs to aim with. So you'll have to use sights to get an accurate shot.

I hope that's a joke or mis-interpretation

Also there is no cross-hair, you can shoot only when you pull the iron sights up.

Why the hell wouldn't you be able to shoot without aiming down the sight, especially with all the CQC situations in this game.

That isn't hardcore, that is just a pain in the ass.

I'm almost certain you'll be able to shoot from the hip in hardcore mode. I think they meant that in order to get an accurate shot, you'll need to aim with an ironsight or scope/red dot sight. Anyway, since bullet damage is doubled... would that mean snipers can get 1 hit kills without a headshot? If so, that would really suck. And a lot of people would play Recon.

Just means they have to hide a bit better :D

Well to be honest sniper rifles feel a tab bit underpowered to me anyways. When I play recon I get a lot of assist medals because I know I had a solid hit..it just wasn't a head shot. Maybe it's just me that feels that they're underpowered.

But I've started to get the entire range/bullet drop thing down pretty good now though so that's changing some.

You can already play Hardcore mode on some servers. I actually have a favorite server I play on that has it enabled and itsg reat. Its hard for sure. There is no minimap, no crosshairs on any weapon unless ironsighted, but its a ton of fun, people die with 1-3 hits.

I don't think that's the actual Hardcore mode that will be in the retail version. From what I've read, it's a couple of server-side tweaks that allow the pseudo-hardcore mode in the PC beta.

Ahh 10-4

Update coming soon?

According to a post on the EA UK Forums the EA servers underwent some maintenance this morning then had some issues coming back up. When they do a new update to the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 beta will be pushed out. No word on what the update includes. Thanks Shwan for the tip.

So new client tomorrow then.. I don't know if I believe that or not but we will see

Indeed. I wonder what changes it'll bring. And I wonder if the server maintenance was meant to decrease latency. It'd be awesome if they'd add the Africa Harbour map. Awesome, yet doubtful.

I did notice my friends list worked tonight.. I got Friends Invitations now, and also it shows when my friends are online and what server they are in etc, still buggy as in if the server name is long and such it writes over each other, but hey it works.

Fantastic! :D

CPU/RAM are fine, not sure about the video card.. in fact I highly doubt it. I have a 9600 GT and its playable at 1680x1050 on Medium settings.

He can probably run in DX9 mode and be fine, or who is to say, Dice did say they have made a TON of performance tweaks and the game should run smoother now.

Anyone know if it's possible to get into the PC Beta? I don't want to buy the game, without knowing it's going to run on my PC :/

I know Fileplanet is still giving out beta keys. See if someone you know has a fileplanet account and will give you a key.

I can confirm that the friends list is now fully functional. You can even see what server your friend is playing on. As SMELTN said, it's buggy (overlapping text and all).

My specs are:

Dell XPS M1530.

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.5GHz

4GB Ram

NVidia GeForce 8600M GT

Win 7 Home Premium

A friend of mine has pretty much that exact setup, but has an 8800 - and finds it unplayable. I don't think you would enjoy it much better with an 8600.

    • Weekend PC Game Deals: Cyberpunk 2077, Split Fiction, Sonic Racing, and more by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Weekend PC Game Deals is where the hottest gaming deals from all over the internet are gathered into one place every week for your consumption. So kick back, relax, and hold on to your wallets. The Epic Games store brought along two games from wildly different genres this week for PC gamers to claim. Robobeat is a rhythm-based action game that lets you become a bounty hunter that can wall run, slide, and bunny hop around his opponents. All you have to do is stick to the beat for the built-in or custom songs. Next, Citizen Sleeper is a sci-fi RPG adventure taking place in a ruined space station. It uses tabletop RPG-inspired elements like dice rolls and timers to change up how players approach its activities, factions, and storylines. The Citizen Sleeper and Robobeat giveaways end on June 25. On the same day, RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 and Voidwrought will become the next freebies. The bundle space expanded with two more collections from Humble this week too. The June 2unes bundle is up first, carrying plenty of rhythm games. This carries Kill the Music and Rhythm Witch in the $5 starting tier, followed by Trombone Champ, Spin Rhythm XD, and Thumper in the $7 tier. Paying at least $12 gets you the complete bundle, which adds on Kalpa: Cosmic Symphony, Everhood 2, NOISZ, and Sixtar Gate: StarTrail. The next bundle is for virtual reality fans. This carries Among Us 3D: VR and Zero Caliber VR for $10. The next tier brings in Tactical Assault VR, Ancient Dungeon, and Arizona Sunshine Remake for $15. VTOL VR, Zero Caliber 2 Remastered, Metro Awakening, and Thief VR land to finish things off for $18. Free Events It's a big week for free event fans, as Valve kicked off another one of its Next Fest events. This one carries thousands of gameplay slices from upcoming indie games The promotion is set to run until June 22. Standard free events are also ongoing this weekend.
