That looks exactly the same to me.

It looks the same if you didn't pay attention. :p The servers can be organized by map, players, ping and etc. That wasn't the case with the PC beta server browser. Also, you can cancel the "Waiting for data..." window.

Anyway, had a fun game with Sethos. I'll say it now, the man is a noob.

Ah, those are useful additions I suppose. I was expecting a completely overhauled UI the way you proclaimed 'new' server browser though ;)

Don't know if this has been posted anywhere but there was a new patch between last night and tonight..

  • Likely fix for "5-minute disconnects". Try it out, and say whether it helps or if you are still getting booted (if so: after how long? and always after the same amount of time?)
What happened on some machines was this:
When you are logged in, your game client has TCP connections to two of EA's master servers. During a game, there isn't much traffic on all those connections. Therefore, the master servers send dummy transactions every 150s. This is so your game client knows that the connection hasn't been broken. Well, guess what? It seems that they don't send dummy transactions to all players. Why not? Nobody knows. So what the R4 client does, is that when it has seen 160s of idleness on a connection, it sends a dummy transaction. This was enough to get rid of the disconnects on the test machines.
Oh, and: when the nearest known problem location is in Poland, the master servers are in the US, and you have no direct access to either machine... then debugging is a convoluted process.
  • Workaround for speaker setups. If one of your speakers has lower volume (or is totally silent), try with one of the following lines in your Settings.ini:
    • SpeakerCount=2
    • SpeakerCount=4
    • SpeakerCount=6

Again, let us know if it doesn't help.

Rather few changes this time around - it's getting more and more difficult to "lift" changes from the retail version into the closed beta version.

Also, you may have read about people being able to crash others' machines with long clantags and nasty chat messages? There is server-side filtering in Server R8, and RSPs begun rolling those out a few hours ago.

So all the people who were complaining about getting booted from the game every few minutes try this out or you don't have a right to complain!!

I really don't know, in my little world, ending a Beta on a Sunday is a nice 'send-off' - Lets people really enjoy the last hoorah before the big launch.

Someone will probably have the answer.

Got a question here, anyone messed around with HBAO after the recent patches? I remember disabling it because it was a performance drain

beyond this world but it had a nice effect, so anyone know whether they optimized it or is it still the same pile of fail?

It's still laggy as hell. I accidentally reset my graphics and it turned on by default and it took me a while to figure out what was causing me to lag so bad.

That was a day or two ago, unless you mean the patch from today?

Also, I really really can't wait for retail, the number of people who are using c4 or mines to destroy objectives seems to be growing by the hour. It's really irritating to have all the objectives be destroyed before you can do anything pretty much. 3 different games on 3 different servers ruined by people doing that tonight..gave up on playing for the night.

There was a patch today?

Nah, meant that performance patch from a few days ago - No worries then.

Oh and I'm just putting this here as a reminder for myself, as I am at work - Because us Eurotrash will most likely

be waiting a few days longer than our US adversaries.

Hopefully that'll work for BC2 as well.

Wow what a major blow to the game. I guess I kind of understand Mass Effect 2 because those additional pieces of content are downloadable, but these are already part of the disc! Kind of glad I decided to buy it rather than "renting and keeping" (which usually is about $40 via Gamefly)

I don't think it's a major blow. It's a bonus for buying the game new. And it's not that much different than day-one DLC. Mass Effect 2 did something similar with a key for gaining access to the Cerberus network.

What about Steam users?

If you want the extra content then buy it new. This really doesn't seem like an issue to me. And if price is your issue, you can still buy a game new when it lowers in price. Just like the Halo ODST with the Reach beta offer I posted today in the MS Section, or the crazy amounts of Crackdown copies when you needed the Halo 3 beta code.

If we had to pay extra for it when it's already on the disc, then yeah, that's an issue (like so many times before already). Or when you are forced to buy from a particular retailer or choose between retailers with different extras. That ****es me off way more.

From the article:

It's one thing to offer downloadable content for a game like Dragon Age: Origins or Mass Effect 2, where not having the additional content doesn't necessarily lessen your experience

I think that's the big one for me. If you don't have a Cerberus Network code in Mass Effect 2, you're really not missing out on a whole lot (an irrelevant character and a boring side-mission). But if you buy a used copy of BC2, you're missing out on four multiplayer maps that will certainly be used in online rotations. They're essentially forcing people who buy the game used to shell out that extra $15. Calling it "extra" content is pretty misleading.

That said, I have to echo DrunknMunky's comments on this one. You're better off just buying the game new. At least that way you'll actually be supporting the developers who worked their asses off to make the game.

EDIT: Typo.

    • Weekend PC Game Deals: Cyberpunk 2077, Split Fiction, Sonic Racing, and more by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Weekend PC Game Deals is where the hottest gaming deals from all over the internet are gathered into one place every week for your consumption. So kick back, relax, and hold on to your wallets. The Epic Games store brought along two games from wildly different genres this week for PC gamers to claim. Robobeat is a rhythm-based action game that lets you become a bounty hunter that can wall run, slide, and bunny hop around his opponents. All you have to do is stick to the beat for the built-in or custom songs. Next, Citizen Sleeper is a sci-fi RPG adventure taking place in a ruined space station. It uses tabletop RPG-inspired elements like dice rolls and timers to change up how players approach its activities, factions, and storylines. The Citizen Sleeper and Robobeat giveaways end on June 25. On the same day, RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 and Voidwrought will become the next freebies. The bundle space expanded with two more collections from Humble this week too. The June 2unes bundle is up first, carrying plenty of rhythm games. This carries Kill the Music and Rhythm Witch in the $5 starting tier, followed by Trombone Champ, Spin Rhythm XD, and Thumper in the $7 tier. Paying at least $12 gets you the complete bundle, which adds on Kalpa: Cosmic Symphony, Everhood 2, NOISZ, and Sixtar Gate: StarTrail. The next bundle is for virtual reality fans. This carries Among Us 3D: VR and Zero Caliber VR for $10. The next tier brings in Tactical Assault VR, Ancient Dungeon, and Arizona Sunshine Remake for $15. VTOL VR, Zero Caliber 2 Remastered, Metro Awakening, and Thief VR land to finish things off for $18. Free Events It's a big week for free event fans, as Valve kicked off another one of its Next Fest events. This one carries thousands of gameplay slices from upcoming indie games The promotion is set to run until June 22. Standard free events are also ongoing this weekend. • Poll: Grand Theft Auto VI price predictions, cast your vote by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe After years of waiting, Rockstar will be solidifying the launch date of Grand Theft Auto VI with the launch of pre-orders next week. While the studio has confirmed a date for this occasion, it is yet to attach a price to the highly anticipated game. So let's see what our readers think it will cost at launch. The Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders will kick off on June 25 for digital and physical editions. Unless some last-minute changes happen, the release date will be November 19, 2026, across Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Unfortunately, there's still no information about a PC version from the developer or the publisher Take-Two. Now the question becomes, how much will Grand Theft Auto VI cost at launch? The game is predicted by some analysts to be the biggest launch of an entertainment product ever. With the amount of hype that has been built behind it and with ballooning development costs, Take-Two may price this Grand Theft Auto entry differently from other AAA titles. The current price of a AAA game is $69.99. That norm almost rose to $79.99 before calming down. But with such a massive release, Grand Theft Auto VI may be the game that pushes the boundary again. It's also possible that Take-Two keeps the price relatively low to increase the number of players that jump in early and keep them hooked on Grand Theft Auto Online to spend on microtransactions for years to come. Keep in mind that the below poll is asking for a prediction of the standard edition price, not a deluxe or any other special edition that Take-Two will introduce for additional benefits. Also, there is the chance of the company splitting up the campaign and online portions. If you think that will happen, put your vote on what you think will be the total cost of the two. Poll Poll: How much will Grand Theft Auto VI cost? $59.99 $69.99 $79.99 $89.99 $100 or more Submit Vote If you have a very specific prediction in mind, sound off in the comments below.
