I was kinda surprised it closed already, I was so sure they would let it run through the weekend - I was so in the mood for some BC2 now :(

Goodbye Beta

http://dl.dropbox.co...11-04-59-24.png

I absolutely know for a fact that at one point the PC beta was supposed to go until the 28th. I am not certain of many things as I do not have a great memory, but I am certain of that, but for whatever reason I cannot find it on Google anymore, so maybe I am dead wrong.

So I am definitely ready for the game to be released. I honestly barely touched the Beta, and I definitely intentionally did it that way, as not only did I have other games to play, but I just feared burn out from playing the same map over and over. So I am really ready for the game to hit.

With that said, I know someone mentioned earlier about preloading the game in Steam, any idea when we are going to be able to do that? I checked earlier today and could not yet preload it.

If we had to pay extra for it when it's already on the disc, then yeah, that's an issue (like so many times before already). Or when you are forced to buy from a particular retailer or choose between retailers with different extras. That ****es me off way more.

It is apparently! :D

Things have got to change though. Devs get nothing for second hand games. Gamestop are unwilling to share the profits so expect this to happen more often.

You know I though I'd burn out playing the same map over and over and while it got tiresome I never got bored when I was playing with mates. I guess that's a testiment to the playability of this game even in it's somewhat shoddy state in beta!

You might be able to pre load it monday. But in all likelyhood you'll be downloading it on the day. :(

On a happier note my PC has been gutted and moved in to it's new case. Though it sounds like a 747 at the moment my CPU has gone from 2.66 stock to 3.4 stable! \o/

Yeah, I heard the 28th being thrown around quite a lot as well, which is why I was so sure about it going till Sunday.

As for the map getting weary, yes, I had reached that point and got past it. At some point you don't care about having played the map a fair few times - The competitive edge takes over instead. Bit like the

old Counter-strike days - At one point we didn't care about playing Dust 2 for the millionth and third time because we got used to it and kinda started liking 'em and I got the exact same feeling here - I actually grew

quite fond of the map.

As for Pre-loading, nothing yet, didn't see anyone mentioning it either? Sometimes the brilliant minds at Valve or the brilliant minds behind publishing the game doesn't allow the game-files to be uploaded early.

I've seen releases where we've had to download the game on the release date ... Looking at you GTA IV clocking in at 15GB.

Hopefully though, the VPN trick I posted a few pages back will work, so I can play the game Tuesday instead of Thursday (Y)

Oh and I just received my new Logitech G500 Mouse and didn't have a real 'competitive' game to test it out in, so I fired up Modern Warfail 2 - 5 different 'servers' ( Hosts ) and the

hit detection and lag was ages beyond Bad Company 2 - I was once pro-matchmaking but this is the final nail in the coffin for that BS.

I'm so stoked for release :woot:

Hope you enjoy your G500, it's an awesome mouse. Far far better than the G9 and anything razer has to offer. And cheaper, too.

Also if there is not word at this point about being able to preload it doesn't seem likely to happen. With Dirt 2 they didn't let us and that release was screwed up from the start. I'll never pre order a game on Steam again because of that experience.

I've had pretty good luck with Gamestop getting me games on the morning of release days so far.

Edit: And I think everyone was confusing the beta start date with the end date. It started on the 28th of January.

Edit 2: Apparently the full download from Steam is around 15gb, I feel sorry for those people that have bandwidth caps.

I'm already amazed at how good the G500 is, I had the MX518 - G5, G5 v2 and now the G500 ( Not that in order but just listing Logitech products ) and they just get a little bit

better every time! I was using the G5 v2 as a replacement for my THIRD broken Roccat Kone and the step up is so natural, feels like the v2, but better.

As for the date, you are probably right :(

And people with Bandwidth caps have themselves to blame for buying games on Steam, you kinda have to expect these massive downloads today with most games

so I'm sure these people will be going retail.

Oh how the times have changed :p It was the complete opposite 2 years ago lol

You make it sound like a bad thing

Not at all, I'm glad you'll be around to play BC2 this time and we'll actually enjoy the same game for once :p

But Spookie is right, the multiplayer scene has been dead for months. Literally I've had nothing to sink my teeth into since BF1943. MW2 was all set to change that but we know what happened there...

Much hyped TV trailer!

<Snipped>

I don't normally swear but that was ****ing amazing! :omg:

Anyway, to those that thought the beta would go until the 28th:

(Taken from the Steam homepage)

****es all over MW2's trailers tbh. Looks awesome, sounds awesome and you get an idea of what to expect. ;)

Indeed, it actually portrays the game very accurately unlike the MW2 trailer that made it look like some Hollywood movie which it certainly wasn't.

EDIT: WTF

That Valentine's Day video is old! Anyway, I'm sure the pre-load will be up on Steam on or close to the 28th (same date as Direct2Drive's pre-load release).

PS: I want that TV spot in 1080p HD.

i am on the fence about this one, i decided not to buy heavy rain and the more i read about the game the more i want it. I played the beta on my ps3 and loved it. played it for hours. Maybe i'll pick it up after i finish FFXIII and GOW3.

Apparently runs great on a 8800gt too :)

    • Zed 1.7.2 has landed with updated OpenCode models, bug fixes and other improvements by David Uzondu Zed 1.7.2 recently landed on the stable release channel, bringing a host of AI-related features including automatic context compaction and settings-based skill management, along with other things like better Markdown preview rendering and custom git commands in the graph view. Starting with the AI stuff, the developers introduced "/compact", a command that basically summarizes your conversation history on demand. This tool prevents your active chat window from hitting token limits by compressing older parts of the dialogue into a brief overview. In addition to that, the team relocated skill management to the settings UI, improving how the application communicates errors regarding those skills, and updated the OpenCode model roster to support DeepSeek V4 Flash, MiniMax M3, Qwen 3.7 Plus, and Nemotron 3 Ultra Free. External agent users can also monitor context window cost metrics and delete individual sessions directly from their history. Right-clicking ref labels in the git graph now opens a context menu that runs different actions against selected targets, kind of how VS Code does it. Here are some of the bug fixes this new release brings: The active agent fails to auto-select when creating a new git worktree. A scrollbar unexpectedly appears on wrapped code blocks in the agent chat. Collapse indicators for project headers appear when performing sidebar searches. Bracketed ellipsis title prefixes fail to show the ellipsis icon properly. Project icons render incorrectly in the recent projects picker. Diff hunk controls appear inside non-editable commit view multibuffers. The software update button hangs indefinitely on the downloading stage. Restoring an agent terminal in a remote project triggers a sudden crash. Splitting a pane that contains an active commit view causes a crash. Linux Wayland freezes when trying to read the clipboard from laggy external apps. Zed is a "newish" code editor trying to break the massive stronghold VS Code has on the developer community. Funny enough, the editor was created by former GitHub employees who worked on the Atom text editor (which Microsoft killed in 2022, several years after it bought GitHub). The project officially hit version 1.0 back in April, introducing platform parity for Windows and Linux alongside deep support for DeepSeek-V4-Pro.
    • 26H2 absolutely will support ARM Windows just not on devices that came with 26H1. This is evident by the fact I am running 26H2, which on my MacBook Neo and Surface Pro 12 (inch), within a VM.

    • The FIFA World Cup is not US centric.
    • It’s amusing how Microsoft is pushing IT admins as if this was a major, game-changing update. In reality, it’s just an enablement package that bumps the build number, which is disappointing compared to the more substantial 22H2 and 24H2 releases. Technically, 25H2, 26H1, and the upcoming 26H2 are essentially the same, differing only in support schedules. They could have included the Windows K2 improvements here, but chose not to. The era of Windows being in the backburner continues, and this 26H2 release feels like an afterthought. Shame, Nadella, shame.
