I wonder if anyone can shed some light on something. I originally pre-ordered the game, limited edition off steam. It says it comes with 6 unlocks. Tracer dart pistol etc. But as of yet I can't seem to use them in game. Do I have to level up higher first? Or do I have to put in a code or something to unlock them in the first place? :(

I managed to get a few games in today. BC2 suffers the same problems as all battlefield games. **** poor server browser. You run the game, have to login, select your player, then when I go to multiplayer / join game (to find a random game) it never works. I get the spinning wheel for AGES with NO cancel button unlike the other dialogues. So there is no movement after 5/10 minutes, its time to alt-tab to end the process and do it all over again. A nice cancel button would have been a nice touch.

If you use the server browser the results aren't much better. When you refresh all servers, again it takes forever, but when its done, the column "ping" has nothing but a dash. No matter which direction I scroll. I have no way of knowing if the server is worth connecting to.

Not to mention when I do find a server, one of 3 things will definitely happen when I double click on a server in the browser:

Nothing happens

Unable to connect, retry

Server full.

Mainly the first option. Nothing will happen, no message telling me that It's failed, just nothing.

The 4th option, actually connecting to a game seems to be hit and miss. Although alot of the above issues will smooth out as demand lowers on the servers etc, the other UI issues like the in-game server browsers will only be updated with a patch which I hope is soon.

Finally, is there a way to smooth out the mouse in the menu? It just seems to lag all to hell.

I agree. The user interface is horrid in BF games (especially BFBC2). Horrid colours and poor use of contrast, events not having a cancel button such as refresing server list, making you wait till its finished doing what ever its doing. I am confused when developers miss such obvious and critical user interface design functions/choices. Most things seem common sense to me, but they are never there.

Yes! The BF interfaces are slow and stupid

They should learn from Valve

Valve game interfaces are speedy, easy to navigate and offer much customization in regards to window size of configuration panels, sorting servers and whatnot.

It just works flawlessly

@Rajput: Garett doesnt sound or is an indian name as far as i know / can tell.

Ive been connecting fine everynight around 930pm CST till 1am CST, love this game so much. ATM im doing RUSH, slowly ill go to RUSH HC and then Conquest. I played and play SO MUCH conquest with BF2 that RUSH is a relief too me.

So far everything is getting quicker, I hope the next patch includes upgraded server browser(bf2/2142) for example and Team Balancing.

I always seem to play 10 vs 46546. Thats when I go recon and start picking people off for my team, and we usually have a chance as I talk to 2-3 other snipers to go recon and join me.

Gonna start playing this game a LOT more as soon as the issues get fixed entirely.

it's not, it's english/jewish. don't ask why i have it, dad gave it to me, mom was against. Got a punjabi name too, never use it. only one buddy from high school ever did.

I did play last night as well without any issues. solid 2-3 hours.

"Battlefield Bad Company 2 Status Update

An update to Battlefield Bad Company 2 on PlayStation 3 is currently with Sony America and will, hopefully go live later today after we get Sony approval. When this happens PlayStation 3 owners will get access to the BFBC2 in game store and have access to their VIP content. Sony Europe will follow shortly after and will, all being well with Sony, allow European players to access the store and their VIP content early this week.

The access to the in game store will start things off by giving VIP members access to the Rush map, Nelson Bay and the Conquest map, Laguna Alta.

While the Xbox 360 and PC aren't getting a client update today we will of course be watching them at DICE and EA, making sure the servers keep running and let you game as much Battlefield time as possible.

We have been discussing a few issues on the official forums and provided some temporary solutions for PC gamers problems while we work on a more permanent solution for them at DICE. You can find the discussions about PB INIT errors and faster browsing tips at: http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/battlefield-bad-company-2-pc/"

PC servers are fine, well our server is anyway had a good 2 hours on it, no disconnects or anything. Logged in fine aswell, seamed a little quicker then the norm as well, which is always a good thing :D

Didn't know you guys have a server... :p (I'm not used to check Gamer's forums).

Too bad I'm at uni right now, my class ends in 2h and I gotta work tomorrow.

Gonna play with you guys on the weekend. :D :D :D

Thats what I thought. But isn't your dad Indian? And you still speak the language I'm guessing. I figured that your dads following the "your in America beta you need america name" like most Indian men that come here and change there name. I understand it's easier for other people but to completely forget about who you are is bs. Goes for ANYone not just Indians. I believe you should know where you come from.

But as far as you go I can tell you somewhat know the language? I myself have a English middle name but yeah.

/offtopic

But anyway I was on earlier couldn't resist and it was very stable to say the least. I did get punkbuster init errors on 2 servers yesterday but today those same servers worked. So providers / admins are doing there job maintaining servers.

I hate how hosts/admins never manage there server like in cod4 you have 200 active servers on 1.0 and same thing with bf2. It's bs. Keep up with the updates or don't complain the game is buggy.

Regardless it's nothing to do with servers hosted which is what I'm happ about. There's over 300 servers for bc2 I believe according to game-tracker or game-monitor I think it was.

But regardless hopefully DICE is pushing hard on EA and continues too until EA puts enough servers up. I mean they have enough 2/2142 login servers up so WTF. I know it's been few years since the games have been out but they should have had that same server support up for this game.

Oh EA when will you learn.

Not the best score by any means, but nice to see that three Neowin members were the top of our team. (Y) And I do believe we won this round if I recall correctly. I know one round was real close and we lost, but I think this one we did win?

Another veteran weapon? I'm a level 1 veteran and I don't have access to it. Anyone above level 1, can you check to see if you have it?

5yrn7l.png

I have it as well, Level 7 Veteran now thanks to EA support, and what does it do exactly? I saw it and still have no clue what it is?

I had that before I added any of my other BF games to the veteran site. I think it's wrong.

@DL it makes shotguns shoot farther at the cost of damage. It's basically a slug instead of a spread. I didn't like it all that much. The whole idea of shotguns is to be close and personal and blasting people in the face. I have other weapons if I want to shoot from further away.

And oh, still had pretty significant connection issues. Actually the only way I could connect was through joining someone else. I could not connect through the Browser. Once we did get on some servers, some were INCREDIBLY laggy.

Ironically I kept telling my brother in law how good the MP is, so guess who purchased it off of Steam yesterday? And guess who could not get online easily? LOL

Thanks man, makes total sense since the Icon is a slug but I just did not realize what it did, but again makes sense and many thanks for the quick and easy explanation.

    • Hey Google, these are the Gemini features I want in 2026 by Aditya Tiwari Google Gemini has been around for over three years. The AI chatbot started its journey back in 2023 (as Bard) when ChatGPT was already a talk of the town. However, it quickly attracted criticism after misrepresenting facts about the James Webb Space Telescope. The search giant spent a year fine-tuning Bard before rebranding the chatbot and its underlying generative AI model to Gemini, drawing inspiration from NASA's first human spaceflight program. Note that Bard was initially powered by LaMDA and PaLM 2; Google has since added several new features and integrations to Gemini. That said, there is scope for improvement and a gap for new features. I have been using Gemini for a while now and have realized that the chatbot lacks several features, making it harder for me to research across topics. These are mostly function-over-form updates that can improve the overall experience. Delete individual messages from a conversation Image via DepositPhotos.com One good thing about Gemini is that it can maintain context throughout the conversation. But things might get chaotic when you want to ask a related question, but don't want it to be part of your conversation in the long run. You can't ask that related question in a fresh chat because Gemini will lose the active conversation context of what you're trying to research. If Google allowed you to delete individual question/answer pairs, you could simply ask about a sub-topic and remove it from the conversation to create a smooth flow of important stuff. Offline mode Image via DepositPhotos.com A big pain of using Gemini daily is that everything loads from the cloud. It takes time for your chats to appear, and you can't view your conversation history while offline. To get a better idea, you can open the Gemini app and see how it looks without an internet connection. While Gemini models run in the cloud, it wouldn't hurt if Google could store chats (at least the text part) on the device so we can refer to them when offline. Google can also offer a lightweight version of its AI model to help with basic drafting, summarization, and other tasks. It has the Gemini Nano model, which can perform on-device processing on Google Pixel, Samsung, and some other Android brands, but it's a system feature and not related to the cloud-based Gemini app. Make temporary chats permanent I can't thank Google enough for taking the time and effort to add incognito mode or temporary chat mode to the Gemini app. It lets you have conversations without worrying that the topics will end up in your chat history or used for model training (at least on paper). Google claims that it doesn't use your temporary chats to "personalize your Gemini experience or train Google’s AI models." However, the data is stored "up to 72 hours to respond to you and to process any feedback you choose to provide." That said, I often start researching something in a temporary chat, only to realize the chatbot's answer is good enough to refer to later. Sadly, Gemini doesn't have an option to make such temporary chats permanent. In other words, I won't be able to follow up on it if I close the temporary chat. I'm left with alternatives like copying the answers into notes or another app. My digital life will get a lot better if Gemini gets a button to make temporary chats permanent. Collapse answers for a cleaner view You're heavily invested in your research game and suddenly feel the need to go up in the chat to recall something. This is when the conversation thread starts to feel like an overwhelming, unending wall of questions and answers. What if Google added a way to collapse Q&A pairs in the Gemini chat thread? It would look quite clean and easy to navigate. You'll quickly get an overview of everything you have discussed with the chatbot. Add buttons to jump between messages Suggested mockup of the feature. This reminds me of a small but useful Gemini feature that Google could add to its chatbot: the ability to hop between prompts in a conversation. Just add simple up- and down-arrow buttons, similar to YouTube Shorts, so people can quickly scroll through the messages. A table of contents or Chat Overview It's hard to get a bird's-eye view of everything you have discussed with the chatbot during a lengthy conversation. This is where a table of contents, or Chat Overview, displayed at the top of the screen, possibly in a drop-down button, might come in handy. You'll be able to get an overview of the chat and jump between messages, serving as an alternative to the up/down arrow buttons. Temporary mode for Gemini Live Image: Google You can use Gemini Live to have real-time conversations with the chatbot, which feels like you're talking to someone in the same room. However, a downside is that Gemini Live doesn't work in Temporary Chat mode, so all your conversations end up in the chat history. Google should consider expanding the temporary chat mode to include Gemini Live. Default to a specific chat One thing that feels somewhat annoying to me is that Gemini always opens in a new chat, whether on web or mobile. Sometimes, you want to return to your last chat. Google can take cues from web browsers, which let you choose whether you want to go to a new tab or a specific web page(s). Gemini can also have options to default to a specific chat when reopened. That said, generative AI chatbots have endless possibilities given the vagueness of their work. You can mold them the way you want by attaching different connectors, adding custom instructions, and including source files. It remains to be seen what Google has in store for future updates and whether anything from this wishlist gets the green light. The search giant released a stream of new Gemini updates in recent months, including Gemini 3.5 Flash and Gemini Omni Spark, adding that it now has 13 products with more than a billion users each. What do you want to see in the Gemini app? Tell us in the comments.
