Which is the better version to get, and what are the reasons for that? Also, are the server issues fixed now?

Oh, and where is best/cheapest to get this? I live in the UK during the week, Ireland at the weekends.

Cheapest is PC followed by both consoles.

Nope, there are problems on all three platforms but they appear to be running different servers so the issues

aren't 'connected' and the PC is by far the platform that has taken the biggest hit, error / bug / issues wise.

I haven't heard of any PS3 issues thus far, either there's not enough users to trigger anything or not enough Neowin

PS3 players that report back

I was playing last night and from arround 6pm to 8pm UK time I kept getting kicked out games from time to time. I then went on again at about 10:30 till 2am and it was fine :-)

Are there any other PS3 players on here? I really want to play this in teams!

Medic class is the closest anyone can come to being god...

Sometimes it seems that way. I was playing last night, and I constantly ran into a squad (they were constantly moving together, so I can only assume they were in a squad) on the other team that consisted of three medics and an assault. Whenever I took one of them down, they would be revived within seconds, and then they would gun at me with their LMGs (which seem to have remarkably good range) while the assault guy pelted me with rifle nades. It reached the point where I would instinctively run away whenever I saw three red hats (they were on the Russian team).

Some of you guys are levelling up pretty fast though. I've put about six and a half hours into the game so far, and I'm only at level four. Then I'll look at Anaron's sig and see that he's level 9 with only a little more time invested. Apparently I just suck :).

No it wasn't, it's because the issues were localized at times or only hit a percentage of people - So you may have been lucky to have

avoided the problems and other people were too but people need to stop dismissing the issues because they were there and some were hit

hard.

This might explain why so many more 360 people are playing:

"BC2 is the "best ever launch for any game released this early in the year." Interestingly, 53 percent of BC2 sales went to the Xbox 360 version, followed by 31 percent and 16 percent of sales for the PS3 and PC, respectively. (The game also topped the three, individual platform charts.)"

Your BF2142 account won't be recognized if you haven't played an MP game for a very long time. The last time I played was almost a year ago and it didn't work.

I haven't played 2142 since pre-expansion and mine worked.

I'm also assuming it takes over a minute or so for the server browser to show any servers for everyone else as well? Just seems like it takes an excessive amount of time for it to find servers (im assuming its related to their issues they are having)

that's been happening since launch, it used to be worst. WHen i hit the refresh button i'll alt+tab outta the game and watch part of a movie/show or something... lol

Seem to have found a working one now. Where do you usually play?

Also, I'm encountering quite a few crashes at random moments. Known issue?

apparently it happens with ATI cards, except a lot of people (with varying hardware) are getting crashes when playing single player

KillerCreation.co.uk :: Trickery.net BC2 Server, search for trickery.net and you should find it. There is a good batch of 15-20 regulars now! :|

Only played on the server I help pay for and random conquest servers.

Level 9? Haha, I'm level 11 now. :p

My friend hasn't played just as long as me and he couldn't add his BF2142 account too. I guess you got lucky.

Hope they implement some form of team balancing at some point, just played a game of Rush and got absolutely steam rolled by a team with 4 more members on :/

Oh well still had a fair bit of fun and spent most of it running around attempting to get stars on my weapons XD

Yeah, that happens. The problem is that I end up stuck with that team for many maps unless I quit and rejoin a different game. It doesn't seem like they switch teams after a match is over.

It has been a while since I played BF2.

    • Looks like the 7.1 is fake effects, can it at least do real 5.1? It says 'virtual 7.1' in all descriptions.
    • You can't, if you didn't notice, it doesn't support surround at all, it's right in the spec list.
    • Hi — I’m always interested in soundcards. Like displays, I just want to know I’m getting as much clean “sonic juice” into my brain as possible as the years take their toll. I’m not entirely sure what to take away from this review, though. It doesn’t really tell me whether the AE‑X is a good product or who it’s actually for. Most of what I’m getting is: there’s a driver to install, here’s what it looks like, and here’s what’s in the box. There’s a lot of emphasis on the SPDIF input. When you mention not needing to switch headphones between console and PC — does that mean the PC has to be powered on just to pass audio through? That seems like a fairly big waste of energy. Is this more something a streamer would use alongside a capture card? How are you testing the sound? (Also, you might want to clarify that you’re using the headphones in wired mode when you mention they’re wireless.) You mention the lack of EMI shielding — how much real‑world difference does that make compared with typical motherboard audio? On multi‑channel: what exactly isn’t supported? Does this mean Windows spatial audio (Dolby Atmos for Headphones, DTS Headphone:X, etc.) won’t work, or just that the card itself doesn’t decode surround formats? And are there any true multi‑driver “surround” headphones left that would even use that? You also highlight support for high‑impedance headphones — but what does that translate to in practice? How does it compare to driving the same headphones from a normal device, and does it make any difference for everyday, lower‑impedance models? In short, who is this card actually targeted at?
    • Yes, THIS is wordart, not the styling that can now be done. Wordart was all about those curvy words, that you could change the path of, like making words go around a circle. I don't think it can be done now, right?
    • Just saw a news report of a Waymo driving into a flooded road.
