Another case of the crap PC port? The 360 version's great. Played online with my mates and it was pretty amazing, but I really need a headset.

The UI is slow and crappy but the game itself on pc does not disappoint at all. Much prefer it to playing the console version.

Oh man, best game yet.

Played as Engineer, got into MG on APC and basically helped this guy OWN the map - got 7 direct kills, a crapload of assists whilst also jumping out between RPG's to repair him. Got loads of pins for the repair/6 kill streak/kill 7 enemies with a tank. Eventually got swarmed after someone traced the the APC then mortar'd me :(

Spawned as sniper and ended up in a perfect place with 3 or 4 guys running down a road - 2 headshots in a row then 2 body hits for squad assist points. Best 5 minutes ever lol.

Then noob tubed twice :/

LOL why is referred to as the "noob tube"? I love the grenade launcher, have since BF2. It's even better now that you can take down buildings and other environment items. Oh well, I'm a noob. If anything, the tank is a noob weapon. Nobody knows how to use it properly. They start shooting as soon as they get in it.

Have now played in a few rounds where I'd be in a squad and everyone is running ragged. ****es me off. I played in a match last night where NOBODY went after the objective (rush). People would run up the line and then stop and get into shoot-outs. It's actually made me love being Defender a lot more - I run around resupplying everyone with ammo while guarding the backside of the crates (because, you know, everyone defends the front only).

Such a ridiculous shot. Skip to 1:25

Same here man, I have always used it since BF2 myself, but even I call it the "noob tube" because even though I use it with skill, I have seen people just fire it and get kills with no skill, hence the noob part.

And okay, I am well aware these are not the greatest scores by any means, but just wanted to show I am a team player, the team is always first with me, and we won both rounds...

And more importantly I posted them to show why I think the whole Skill Level rating is a joke since it is only K/D Ratio based. I play the game as it is meant to be played, and that is not a knock against others, just simply a truthful statement. But as such I am not concerned with if I die as much as I am if we win and I secured Objectives. Yet somehow I have a negative skill ranking.

I have said it before and I will say it again, at the end of the day I honestly do not care that much, but if I have one beef with the game, it is this.

But DL, there is a guy that has the same score as you and is in 10th place, and another guy with a slightly better score who is in 8th.. Trust me I have put in a ton of hours so far and it isn't just K/D based. If you TRY and plant/defuse a bomb = points. If you just touch a guy = points, if you just TAG a guy for others = points. Not counting attacking vehicles etc..

Honestly it has a lot more to do with teamplay than just K/D ratio

Remember look at this chart

SMELTN, I think what Larry is getting at is not the score of the round but the skill level on the overall leaderboard/soldier. I see the same thing, I've been in the top 3 numerous times thanks to capturing objectives, squad resupplies, etc. However, my skill is a 2 because my K/D is absolute crap (again, overall K/D). I've also noticed on my soldier at least (360 version) my ranking is staying at dead last. I've always had problems with EA games doing this, I've never ranked up. Happens to me every year in NCAA Football so I know it's an EA issue.

A side note, I went out and bought the Turtle Beach X31 headset because the best time for me to game is late at night but the baby sleeps as does the wife. I wish I had bought them sooner. Even though my home audio is 5.1 and these are stereo, there's so much audio I have been missing. It's especially good for hearing teammates drop medi-packs or ammo and also spotting enemies (by the way, not enough people do this. What a great tool the spotter is for your team, I have really been focusing on it).

The X31's are garbage as they are the "basic" wireless edition and have a LOT of interference. You will soon be able to tell. If your serious about a headset get the X1's. Same thing but 16 feet of wiring. If you dont want those get the X41's. $200 but you paid probably $100 for your 31s so for the 41's you pay 100 more and get 7.1 surround sound, Interference / Lag free Connection, Better/Bigger headset, Less power usage, USB powered transmitter with RCA and Digital Audio output to the transmitter.

I love my 41s. Couldnt STAND my 31s. Cellphone went off, interference, range sucked, couldnt go 10 ft with the headset still on without static. They werent worth it and ate too much batteries.

This whole time I thought 'f3llyn' was one of my XBL friends...Ends up being trag3dy chillin in Canadian servers owning us :p

Only Canadian in name.

The servers are located in Seattle though, so I get decent pings off them. Usually less than 50. Which ones do you usually play on?

Thanks for your perspective, Sikh. I did do some research, I do know these are "basic". Whether they are garbage or not, I can't call it - the official 360 headset is what I would call garbage. I'll see how these go, my experience tonight was pretty enjoyable. Would have gone with the X1's but the wire is a no-go with a baby crawling everywhere. I will admit, the idea of having the 7.1 is enticing but none of my local stores had them in stock. If I have the problems you describe I'll take them back and order the X41's. While I was playing though, my iPhone went off several times, including SMS, and did not encounter any type of interference. And I sit about 15 feet from the TV, all was well. In fact, it wasn't until I got to the stairs in our house, about 20 feet, when it cut out. I don't plan on playing from there so it's not a deal breaker.

My habu mouse is driving me crazy! It keeps randomly disconnecting for a few seconds. Quits working just long enough to get me killed. I looked it up and I guess it's a common problem. I've used this mouse for less than a year, but admittedly I use my mice more than most people. Other than this problem I've enjoyed the performance of the mouse. I'm in the process of waiting for the replacement. They stopped making the habu (I wonder why...) so they are sending me a sidewinder x5. I wonder if it will be any good. I knew I should have avoided microsuck and went with a logitech g500. I'm temped to sell the x5 to help cover the cost of the g500. Anyone here tried both and got an opinion? I know the g500 is probably better, but is it worth the extra ~$25 plus having to wait longer?

I've owned just about every Razer mouse there is..Mamba, Lachesis, Deathadder, and a Logitech G9, in the end I sold them all and now have the G500. It is better than all of them (in my opinion). It's got the comfort of a Deathadder with the precision of a Mamba, or G9x, but is cheaper than both of them. I'd say it's totally worth it.

Thanks, now all I need to find someone to buy my sidewinder x5. I guess I'll have to check out ebay and craigslist.

Dont give up yet, the Sidewinder x5 is a GREAT mouse. I personally used that a Logitech G9x / G500 and a Mamba / deathadder. ATM I have a MX1100 and love it for gaming with its fps switcher and thumb button. But out of all those it would be G500 / X5 / G9x. I also like the MX1100 because its wireless and no lag, goes for about a month on one full charge. Im trying to get a MX Revolution and that will make me happier xD. Loved this mouse since the day i saw it 3 years ago.

No problem man. I dont wanna rain on your parade. I loved them, but then slowly figured out why most people just bought the 41s. They are Pure Quality where these were the "ah i dont want the wire, but i dont wanna spend that much money" and then you end up at 41s anyway. I understand the baby part, definitely do not want 16 feet of wire lol. I say DEFINITELY use them a lot and measure how much battery life you get. Believe me if you have the extra 100 to spare you will thank me.

I almost got the X4s but then after some researching found out that the 41s were coming out and they were x4s but with 7.1 and digital input into the transmitter. I liked that and wait and worth it. Most stores wont carry them in stock, there expensive and maybe one or 2. I know bestbuy will carry them in stock, if its not on the shelf just ask, when I went to buy them(yeah i hate shopping at BB but no choice) they had 2 in the back, didnt put them upfront because they didnt have the proper security devices for them.

Anyway enjoy the world of Turtle Beach. There great headsets for console. Being a PC Gamer im so use to paying attention to detail, then when I found out about turtle beaches and how they would be equivalent to my G35's, i was very happy. Big comfy headset both booms and you can hear literally everything, made me a better fps gamer on console.

Admittedly, I would prefer to use the sidewinder x5 as it will save me some cash, but I'm undecided because of how much people praise the g500. If I'm at a disadvantage using the x5 against people using the g500 I would be more than willing to pony up the cash, but is there really a noticeable advantage? Makes me think not if you put the x5 next to the g500 as one of your favorites. I'm a big time competitive lan gamer so I need a good performing mouse; I don't want to be at a disadvantage simply because my mouse is inferior. I wish I could try the x5 before I sell it but that would probably kill the value.

Just bought a Multiplay Server for this game..only to be told new servers are on hold til DICE get their arses into gear.

D'oH.

I believe you mean EA. It's amazing how EA manages to screw up every game. Wasn't Battlefield 2 released and published by DICE last time round?

Ill explain it too you why I dont like the G500 all that much. All it is a G5 redone. Besides that I dont like the slim feeling of a mouse when im gaming, so thats a no go too. Also, if you look at this picture of the X5

ms-sidewinder-x5.jpg

Youll see why I like the X5. It has that big lump that fits perfect in your hand, and not only that, i loved the "trigger" like thumb buttons. They made my experience so much better. I could knife / primary in the matter of seconds. Only thing I didnt like is wired. I am not a fan of wired mouses at all.

Thats why trying to find a wireless mouse I stuck to a keyboard/mouse combo. Found my Wave Pro and have loved the combo ever since. Great keyboard and great mouse. One thing, when the Mamba came out, I went out and bought it, didnt like it too much. I dont like how Razer designs its mouses. More or less they look the same and i just couldnt feel "it". Also with the bugs(which were later fixed, but didnt help then) I gave up and got my money back and stuck with my mx1100. Its been a year now and a month or 2 and i cant give up this set, its perfect for me and this mouse has made a bond with my hand.

Thumb button for knifing ='s Win.

BF 2/2142 were all DICE and EA was apart of them too. Thats why BF2 was a big fail @ laucnh. EA cant get **** right at all. Even with the 400% hit which isnt there fault, they still have enough RESOURCES to not let this happen for a whole week. I dont care what point of view you look at it from, with your history of launches with battlefield games, i thought they would of went OVER expectations and then took resources away. It would of been better that way.

EA, hopefully you learn for BF3 or then i will hate you forever.

    • Looks like the 7.1 is fake effects, can it at least do real 5.1? It says 'virtual 7.1' in all descriptions.
    • You can't, if you didn't notice, it doesn't support surround at all, it's right in the spec list.
    • Hi — I’m always interested in soundcards. Like displays, I just want to know I’m getting as much clean “sonic juice” into my brain as possible as the years take their toll. I’m not entirely sure what to take away from this review, though. It doesn’t really tell me whether the AE‑X is a good product or who it’s actually for. Most of what I’m getting is: there’s a driver to install, here’s what it looks like, and here’s what’s in the box. There’s a lot of emphasis on the SPDIF input. When you mention not needing to switch headphones between console and PC — does that mean the PC has to be powered on just to pass audio through? That seems like a fairly big waste of energy. Is this more something a streamer would use alongside a capture card? How are you testing the sound? (Also, you might want to clarify that you’re using the headphones in wired mode when you mention they’re wireless.) You mention the lack of EMI shielding — how much real‑world difference does that make compared with typical motherboard audio? On multi‑channel: what exactly isn’t supported? Does this mean Windows spatial audio (Dolby Atmos for Headphones, DTS Headphone:X, etc.) won’t work, or just that the card itself doesn’t decode surround formats? And are there any true multi‑driver “surround” headphones left that would even use that? You also highlight support for high‑impedance headphones — but what does that translate to in practice? How does it compare to driving the same headphones from a normal device, and does it make any difference for everyday, lower‑impedance models? In short, who is this card actually targeted at?
    • Yes, THIS is wordart, not the styling that can now be done. Wordart was all about those curvy words, that you could change the path of, like making words go around a circle. I don't think it can be done now, right?
    • Just saw a news report of a Waymo driving into a flooded road.
