i think its funny, how if this was call of duty mw2...people would be raging about the servers being down

"I PAID 50$ FOR THIS GAME AND I CANT EVEN PLAY ONLINE?! WTF!!"

While you may be right, I think the patience comes with the fact the game is so damn good. Also I think it simply comes down to the fact that PC gamers have been waiting a long, long time for a proper BF release, and as such, at least from my perspective, I am just glad we finally have another BF game on the PC, so these growing pains are a little easier to deal with because of this. Not only that, but I truly think IW comes off a bit more arrogant than DICE does, so people are much quicker to jump down IW's throat then they are DICE. Finally, I think you are indeed correct, but another factor is how IW decided not to go with dedicated server and forced the PC community to go with their own system. This made all of their moves under scrutiny on the PC side, so yes indeed, people would be more upset at IW.

With all that said, this is really starting to get ridiculous. It is now officially 8 days since release here in the US, and especially considering the decent length of the Beta, things really should not be this chaotic still. No way at all.

DL I haven't made my own sig generator, I made my own background for the siggomatic.. I think you got confused.

Yeah I realized as soon as I posted that you may have just made your own background and that I had misunderstood, but I posted that using my Droid and it is a pain even posting never-mind editing.

So cool gonna work on my own background then I believe. I am really curious as to where they got the images for the backgrounds they made, as they are all really cool images.

I got the Sigg-o-Matic sig to work one time and then it never updated. Now, I can't even create another one, it says my Gamertag cannot be verified and they are blaming EA for the problem.

And as far as I know, the server reset from midnight was over and done within a matter of hours. That's crap if the same problems are still there. I wonder if the focus for EA (and DICE, for that matter) is the consoles first? Pretty lame.

Actually, lets correct you. Its $60 for Craptastic MW2. Another thing is Activison(i dont believe IW did) forced IW to use the "IWNet" fail service on the PC and not Servers. So your wrong there too. Bad thing about this, THE GAME WENT DOWN 2 weeks ago. WTF? PC Games dont go down. While yes BC2 is inaccessible because only way to play it is by logging in, the servers are still up in the background. Where as if IWNet goes down, your pretty much screwed. Also I blame Activison for MW2 and EA for BC2.

Another point is, with MW2, you got CRAP DRM(cant alt tab unless your in lobby), cant Kick / Ban hackers or people. No server wide messages, etc. The game has a LOT of problems that altogether made it a FAIL FOR PC.

What do you MW2 PC players not get? Its NOT A PC GAME. Its a CRAP CONSOLE PORT. Plain and simple.

Bad Company 2 is one of the best PC games to come out because of the brand new Engine, the ACTUAL PC Support, and the Devs. I do believe EA is causing DICE to loose REP because people automatically blame DICE and not EA. Also, DICE also made a GREAT choice with DRM and PC support. They listened to the community, hell this "The Dentist" Challenge is basically proof they listened to the Community. Also specially PC speaking: the servers, modes, controls, etc were all by listening to the community.

In the Past DICE has put out VERY good games, and they continue too. its EA who dampers the party. Hell I understand the 400% hit, thats totally understandable but like larry said 8 days now is Ridiculous. EA will hopefully learn from this release.

The reason was because there was a scheduled downtime that happened at midnight last night.

Actually, this was the reason: http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/battlefield-bad-company-2-pc/950104-ea-master-servers-just-went-down-thursday-00-10-gmt.html

It's supposedly fixed now.

Even though I'm not playing the PC version, I've been staying up on the happenings on the PC side and feel for the players out there. I found this quote on the EA forums pretty funny:

The damn war will be over by the time we get there!!

Anyhow, I'd say I hope it gets sorted soon but at this point I think it's fair to demand it gets fixed now.

While the core of the dev team here at DICE as well as all the back-end teams at EA are 110% focused on stabilizing the game experience we do have some other, great news to reveal. Today we’re happy to announce the release date of the second VIP map package for Battlefield: Bad Company 2! It will be made available on the 30th of March on all platforms at no extra cost to all of you who’ve got your VIP codes entered in the game. VIP Map Pack 2 contains the following:

Arica Harbor Conquest mode - US Command launches a break through action directly at the Russian base. Collateral damage is of no consequence. Capture and secure tactical positions in Conquest Mode across the vast Arica Harbor map.

Laguna Presa Rush mode - The valley and surrounding mountains possess a strategic value in the battle for South America, and an infantry assault supported by light armor vehicles is likely by both armies as US forces defend the nearby Dam.

"We’re dedicated to taking care of this product for a long time – helping you avoid “mapathy” without getting nickel-and-dimed."

Oh shi-

It isn't DICE's fault - it's EA's. Still, it's nice to know that they plan on releasing a new [pseudo]-map pack.

...helping you avoid “mapathy” without getting nickel-and-dimed.

Take that, IW.

I love how there digging at IW hehe

On a side not, are there many X360 players on here? Im fed of playing the PSN version with random players all the time :(

Check the soldier list. (Y)

I was gonna get this game last night while doing the "shopping" as I've let my wow account expire as I wanna move to APB. I saw this as an "inbetween" game. however I remember reading problems with connecting to servers etc. I think I'll stick to BF2 :p

While you may be right, I think the patience comes with the fact the game is so damn good.

I agree that the game "could" be so damn good. It still, IME, has WAYY to many snipers and people hording vehicles. I rarely hear people chatting/doing teamwork (unless you are specifically in a room with friends of course). This is on the 360 version at least.

That said, I didn't have any connection issues last night, even though the "news ticker" said they were experience problems.

I am a 360 player. You can add me.

What's the "vip code" you need for the new maps? The limited edition code or the gamestop one? I have the gamestop code, but I was going to try to sell it as I've already unlocked the aks-74u. If I need the gamestop one I definably wont sell it but otherwise I just might try. Anyone know which code they are talking about?

Apparently it came in the retail box. It's assigned to your account when you use it once. Makes people have to cough up another $15 for pre-owned console games.

    • What I like about Paint is using it almost exclusively for cropping and resizing images I get elsewhere--it's quick, easy and cheap... I keep it glued to my taskbar, in fact. Also, the clipping tool comes in handy, as well (hit print scrn on the keyboard and it activates immediately.)
    • I still remember it fondly today. It was so cool to work in 64-color Half Bright mode and 4.096-color HAM mode (interlaced) when x86 was still in 4-color CGA or 16-color EGA low res. C= never realized what it had until it was far too late--the failure of C= was the failure of its top management. The C= Amiga was 20 years ahead of its time, I always thought. It didn't hurt that in only 512k of chip memory, the Amiga could preemptively multitask when Apple was still doing gray scale graphics on tiny screens and along with everyone else was doing cooperative multitasking (running more than one app at a time in resident memory, but you could only run one of them at a time--had to manually switch between them.) I had a ball with AREXX scripting running between programs that had AREXX ports so that when you sent other applications data and instructions, those running applications could process the same in real time to output! Memories...
    • I'm not sure about that, but it at least "does" a version of 7.1 that this brand new card doesn't....

    • I can barely recall getting web results from a file search... I must've turned it off long ago. 26H2 is Insider's Preview build 26300.8697, which I am running, atm. It is not available for people running the standard commercial builds of Windows--only for the beta test Insider's group. But anyway, as mentioned in the thread, this feature has been around for a long time...
