So, just for conversation's sake (because I love talking about Battlefield), do you think these decisions made by DICE are why there is less squad play or is just the nature of the players playing the game? In my opinion, Assault should get the silenced guns, Engineers should get the LMG et al, and the Medic should get the assault guns (or some variation of). I think this would make squad work so much more important and prevelant. Think about it, as a Medic, you no longer are overpowered so you need your assault/recon squadmates to do the damage while you provide support (novel idea, I know). Same with Engineer.

On another note, earlier in the thread I mentioned how much I love the "noob tube" ever since BF2. Well, the shotgun add-on has taken it's place. It's such an awesome weapon for CQB. By using the nade launcher you are, effectively, diminishing your potency as assault. I know some people are great at using the nade launcher but overall the shotgun does more damage at a closer range.

imo it should be relatively similar to BF2 [spec ops - C4 + silenced weapons] [Assault - assault rifle with nade launcher + some other specialty of sorts] [support - LMG + repair and ammo bags/boxes] [Medic - scoped assault rifle + defrib + medic pack] [marksman - scoped rifles less damage semi auto marksman rifles and strong sniper rifles with obvious recon ability]

As for squad work or lack of I think comes with fact that customizations make so many rambo one man squad attitudes with some people but on the other hand the only way to promote it would be through restriction which would **** people off who don't understand or are impatient like what bf2:pr mod does.

Isn't it a little sad that BF2 has a "connect to IP" option and BC2 doesn't?

Definitely. I didn't even realize that this game didn't have a "connect to IP" option. I never looked for it, but I just kinda assumed that it had one. I can't even recall the last time I played a multiplayer FPS that didn't have "connect to IP".

Did you ever figure out the Dr. Pepper DLC thing Anaron?

No. All I know right now is that the DLC is supposedly coming out on the 30th. My brother has BC2 on the PS3 so I'll know when it's released. It could be console-only considering you need to pay for it.

Console ports gotta love em'.

BC2 may be a port, but it isn't your average run-of-the-mill console port. It's a little more PC-friendly; however, it does lack certain features that a PC FPS game should have (e.g. connecting by IP).

I can't remember either. Heck, Counter-Strike has it and that game is over a decade old.

Agree with you 100%.

My assumption is that DLC will be free for PC players, that is why there is not even a mention of it anywhere on the PC.

And I think I just hopped on one of Spookies server, I saw The Duality was online so I joined whatever server he was on. First round I did so awful, in fact The Duality killed me at least 5 times with C4 alone, but made up for it the second round and had one helluva round, went 19/3 if I recall correctly, but by then he disconnected. Was pretty happy with my connection though, it is the first time I tried connecting to a server overseas for me and I saw no real noticeable difference in connection, at least on my end.

Oh and I figured out my mouse issue with Middle button not always working...

So if I run Steam and the game itself from shortcuts on my desktop as an Administrator, I can now see pings again. I have to run both as Administrator though, not just one or the other. However when I do this, for whatever reason it disables my mouse drivers, and because of that my middle mouse button does not work (along with changing DPI on the fly, etc). So I basically have to sacrifice seeing my ping for making sure my mouse works, but it sure would be nice if I could have both work. I really like my mouse, and just do not have the money to go buy a new one especially considering gaming mice are not cheap at all, so for now I am going to live with it. I am assuming with the larger brands though, like Logitech and MS, people are not having this issue as there would be more discussion about it.

yeah we got a server browser, that barely works...

They were indeed some fun games :) Would have been nice to get on the same team and squad up! I ragequit in that second round - I tend to do terrible after a good round, I get cocky and make mistakes. :p

I've really gotta be picking some pretty good spots as a Recon if people are spawning in on my location like this...

Oh and, yeah, I've pretty much made the Recon my class. I shot 4 helicopter pilots down today while a clan was watching for recruits... didn't mean to, but I caught their eye.... They want me to play on their server more..

how did you shoot down helis!? In the beginning I shot down like 6 helis. Beginning meaning first 2 weeks of the game. Now I can pull off marksman shots but I can neverget a pilot anymore. I've managed to aim higher as they are going home and sink one in the chest but that's it. Especially from port valdez, sniping them from a high point and keeping above them on aim doesn't work anymore. In one game I try 2 times and that's it because I get back into playing by calling mortars, throwing motion mines at mcoms, spotting and taking out planters.

But good job (Y)

That was Spookie's server right? Because the friends browser is so FUBAR'd, I only saw like the first 5 letters of the server you were on, but I am pretty sure it was his but want to double check.

Yeah honestly when it finally dawned on my why not change teams and join up with you, you had left. But damn you were insane with that C4. I could not go anywhere in the tank. LOL That round I came into the match probably about half way, and I always need a round or two to warm up, but I seriously did awful, I think I was 0/6 or something, just awful.

So just curious from your end you did not notice any lag on me or anything right? I know I was mainly in a tank but I think we were on feet together at one point. I know no one else said anything so I do not think there were any issues, but I was just so surprised how well my connection was for playing overseas, like I saw no difference at all and thought I may see some. So that is encouraging. I did check my ping on a few occasions just to see, and while it was insanely high according to the game, so was everyone else.

I honestly had stayed away from connecting to oversea servers for me because of the issues the game was having, but if there are no issues like it looked like there were none today, I will definitely start joining you guys more often as it seemed like a real good crowd. The game you ragequit I literally was just being a huge pain in the ass with the tank, but the main reason I was able to be one were people on my team were repairing me without me even needing to ask and they were not even on my squad. Was a real good bunch of people as far as I could see and everyone seemed really into actually playing the game as it's meant to be played.

So good server you have there Spookie. (Y) I like how it welcomed me too. I will definitely join again soon.

had some solid rounds after work. i love the m16a. no reason to go anything but assault.

another question, since i'm a battlefield noob and this is my first battlefield game. Did they always up the leveling up system that they have or did they jack that from CoD?

No I don't think DICE is to blame for less team play. Although I find their decision to change the classes around weird and unnecessary I do not hate the change. It will just take a while to get used to it, BF2 being the game I have spent the MOST time on in any game ever I was so used to how that played that I did not think it needed a change at all. Now I do think your suggestions are much better then the current layout, especially the Medic/LMG combo has to go. However I still think that less team orientated play is not a fault of DICE but more so the increased population of gamers and the wave of little kids it has brought together with it. They are simply not at a level where they can comprehend team play. Too many games like Modern Warfare have made them all think that you can go all out Rambo and win it for the team and lets face it in those games you can. BFBC2 will be best and more fun when all the remaining kiddies find their next generic fps to jump on to and the core players that know the meaning of team play remain.

Again agreed with the layout, it would have been much better with either of your suggestions but DICE decided to go with that and that we shall have to deal with I am afraid, Still sorely disappointed in the decision to cut out Spec Ops as that was my most played class after Medic :(

    • Microsoft confirms Windows 11 26H2 to finally get one of the most requested features by Sayan Sen This past week Microsoft officially confirmed Windows 11 version 26H2 with the latest build, 26300.8697, for testing in the experimental Insider channel. The company also published more details about it mainly directed towards IT admins and system admins. Essentially version 26H2 will be delivered via an enablement package (eKB) over Windows 11 25H2. If you are wondering about some of the upcoming features in the next Windows version, one of them is certainly very interesting as Microsoft has confirmed it is finally bringing one of the most overwhelmingly requested features ever. March Rogers, the Partner Director of Design at Microsoft, recently highlighted some of the Search improvements that the company is testing, and during the interaction with users on X where he posted it, Rogers also confirmed that the company is working on disabling web search results inside Search. This is something which many users find quite annoying as Windows would often serve them links to Bing which it feels could be more helpful rather than bringing up the actual object or app the user may be searching for on their PC. Finally though the company is prioritizing local file search over the web. However the feature could not be disabled for many users as not all new features are immediately rolled out to everyone. Image via phantomofearth (X) Windows enthusiast phantomofearth who likes to dig deep into new builds uncovered the IDs you will need to enable these features. Using the following feature IDs the new Search-related features landing in Windows 11 26H2 can be used. Follow the steps below to enable the new Search experience on Windows 11 build 26300.8697: Download ViveTool from GitHub and unpack the files in a convenient and easy-to-find folder. Press Win + X and select Terminal (Admin). Switch Windows Terminal to the Command Prompt profile with the Ctrl + Shift + 2 shortcut or by clicking the arrow-down button at the top of the window. Navigate to the folder containing the ViveTool files with the CD command. For example, if you have placed ViveTool in C:\Vive, type CD C:\Vive. Type vivetool /enable /id: and press Enter. Restart your computer. If you change your mind and want to restore, repeat the steps above and replace /enable with /disable in the commands on steps 5 and 6. Delightedly and perhaps also expectedly, once you disable web search and other such bloat, the Windows 11 Search is said to get snappier as remarked by another Windows enthusiast Xeno.
