Probably my BEST game yet.

2cdigl0.jpg

As you can tell, i havent played as much, but even when I play, Im either Recon or Engineer. I also spot / throw motion mines. As far as repairing goes theres a few times when ive actually gotten a chance to repair a tank or humvee. Most of them were already squads driving around and had an engineer jump out repair, get in, etc.

So I do try to do my "job". I just wish I had more games like these. Not score wise but actual good hardy round. I need more time :(

Has anyone noticed the main game executable doesn't disappear when you exit the game? I quit out of BC2 to load up Metro 2033 and noticed my FPs was a bit lower than normal. I checked Task Manager and noticed the BC2 exec. was still loaded and using up cpu/ram.

It's done this every time.

Try running it in Windowed mode and exiting.

Yeah, i played the game three times yesterday over an 8 hour period. Into the 3rd i felt the game sluggish. Quit the match, exited the game and loaded up taskmanger. Had 3 instances of the bad company exe running all taking up RAM. This has only happened since the last update.

Hmm perhaps this is why BC2 is randomly crashing now after the update.. Mind you i've only had BC2 crash on me once. But my friend would load up the game.. get into a match play for a bit, and the game would just close on him.. no warning.. no error nothing. Happened to him several times after the latest update

Yes, I get this too. I resorted to leaving task manager open in the background throughout my sessions.

Anyone else have any issues finding servers? I only ask because my friend is trying to play yet now, all of a sudden only a handful of servers appear in his server browser.. where before it would show 50-100 more. I cant play right now to test but I just find it weird how his BC2 all of a sudden can only show a handful of servers in the list

Still having fun. I tell you it makes it so much better when you are in a nice older aged clan, and play with them in ventrilo all night. LOVE it. Makes the game so much better and keeps you wanting to play even when you start to feel a little burnt out on it.

This is the only aspect of the game I am truly missing out on. I really miss talking to the other squad members while playing and really coming up with strategies depending on the said situation we are facing. The cool thing is sometimes they still wind up panning out organically even if no discussion is happening, meaning somehow even though we are not talking it sometimes seems to be a given what we should do next. So that is cool when it pans out.

I truly not once have yet to even talk to another human with my mic. The only communication I have had besides the obligatory text-based "gg" at the end of a round is a few random text messages here and there. It really is a shame no one uses the game voice chat at all. My thing is I really just jump on at very random times and it is usually only for a few rounds here and there. I have honestly yet to play more than two hours in one sitting, and that was definitely the rare occasion. Generally speaking I only play 30-60 minutes each time I play.

Maybe I should finally get around to installing Ventrillo and see how it all pans out. I need to find a clan though that is not really a clan so to speak, meaning there are no expectations of when you can play and being around X amount of hours each week. Hopefully something like that exists. Also I don't know maybe it is just a preconceived notion I have based on past experiences but a clan to me also indicates a level of seriousness that I am just not really into committing to. Meaning I just play for fun and I really wouldn't want that to change much if at all. Do not get me wrong, I also play to win, but a clan just says to me the whole mindset is "must-win" so to speak. And honestly all clans I have participated in during the past were all not on the very serious side, but there was still a seriousness about it all if that makes any sense.

Finally I have seen a decent amount of people say no one is using the public chat as most people are using the Ventrillo server of the server they are on? My thing is maybe I am missing something, but I never see that information anywhere. Is there a way to see if the server you are on also has a Ventrillo server set up?

Well like I said may be a good start if I go ahead and install Ventrillo first.

this is the first time i have played a shooter like this since bf1942 and it took me while to get used to it..... it have to say its an awesome game... my ratio is starting to pick up from 0.4 to 0.56 now that im getting >1:1 kd. ive decided to stick with assault, i just cant understand how people can camp at the back of rush maps and snipe but dont do things like mortar strikes and m60 spammers...wow dont get me started on them.... hopefully as i get better i can get them before i get wall spammed :D

woot finally just bought the game this morning steam at cheapest price possible (thank you US currency conversion :)) will be downloading and playing tonight.

I can agree that dropping of spec ops class for silenced light weapons probably wasn't wisest idea they had. Support class with L/MG & repair would make more sense like in bf2 and medic with normal assault rifle but ahwell this games not really going for realism in most ways lol.

I hope your pings to overseas servers are better than what I can muster!

And my name is: Watchthisspacve (Yes I did a typo) Feel free to add me!

    • Microsoft confirms Windows 11 26H2 to finally get one of the most requested features by Sayan Sen This past week Microsoft officially confirmed Windows 11 version 26H2 with the latest build, 26300.8697, for testing in the experimental Insider channel. The company also published more details about it mainly directed towards IT admins and system admins. Essentially version 26H2 will be delivered via an enablement package (eKB) over Windows 11 25H2. If you are wondering about some of the upcoming features in the next Windows version, one of them is certainly very interesting as Microsoft has confirmed it is finally bringing one of the most overwhelmingly requested features ever. March Rogers, the Partner Director of Design at Microsoft, recently highlighted some of the Search improvements that the company is testing, and during the interaction with users on X where he posted it, Rogers also confirmed that the company is working on disabling web search results inside Search. This is something which many users find quite annoying as Windows would often serve them links to Bing which it feels could be more helpful rather than bringing up the actual object or app the user may be searching for on their PC. Finally though the company is prioritizing local file search over the web. However the feature could not be disabled for many users as not all new features are immediately rolled out to everyone. Image via phantomofearth (X) Windows enthusiast phantomofearth who likes to dig deep into new builds uncovered the IDs you will need to enable these features. Using the following feature IDs the new Search-related features landing in Windows 11 26H2 can be used. Follow the steps below to enable the new Search experience on Windows 11 build 26300.8697: Download ViveTool from GitHub and unpack the files in a convenient and easy-to-find folder. Press Win + X and select Terminal (Admin). Switch Windows Terminal to the Command Prompt profile with the Ctrl + Shift + 2 shortcut or by clicking the arrow-down button at the top of the window. Navigate to the folder containing the ViveTool files with the CD command. For example, if you have placed ViveTool in C:\Vive, type CD C:\Vive. Type vivetool /enable /id: and press Enter. Restart your computer. If you change your mind and want to restore, repeat the steps above and replace /enable with /disable in the commands on steps 5 and 6. Delightedly and perhaps also expectedly, once you disable web search and other such bloat, the Windows 11 Search is said to get snappier as remarked by another Windows enthusiast Xeno.
