How can I best increase my performance? Will I have to reduce the resolution of the game? I run it on Lowest settings at 1440x900 and still get lag occasionally (usually from particle effects).

Just dl'd the pc patch. Jumped intoa server quick to test the new chopper handling. MUCH improved. Before it was really difficult to strafe with the chopper making flying around so your gunner can kill people very hard. Now just moving my mouse side to side makes it strafe side to side making things much easier.

At 1680x1050 the text box doesnt bother me at all, I hardly even noticed it. And the chat is massively improved so its worth it.

Probably not going to play today because so far as expected all the servers are doing their usual post update lag storm.

Are there new patches out for the consoles or is it just PC?

The consoles already got most of the fixes that we got in this latest patch.

man i am so annoyed (pc version).

Their last patch ruined the whole melee knifing, collecting dog tags thing. They are going to undo that with the next patch which was planned for release in may i think. but they're adding more crap i guess, i dunno.

I want my knife back! half the time now it doesnt even work, which makes the game less fun for me.

I unlocked everything months ago which sucks. hopefully they'll provide new weapons in the next patch.

The knife was fixed with the patch. I knifed several people and it worked fine.

Chopper flying difficult? It’s a piece of ****! Desert Combat or BF2 would have had you raging if you thing BC2 is hard. I can’t do nearly hard the stuff I could in BF2. I use to be able to barrel roll in BF2 (and survive I might add!)

Dude chill. You cant barrel roll of course but this game isn't even big enough for maneuvers like that to work well. I could also fly the bf2 chopper well and do barrel rolls. The reason I said it was "hard" (not hard in that I crashed or anything) before the patch was it was so un-maneuvererable you couldn't really do anything... On the pc version anyway, the console version already had decent handling. The PC chopper was nerfed to all hell before this update.

The helicopter handling in BF2 was unrealistic. In BC2, it's slightly more realistic. There aren't any big maps in BC2 like there was in BF2 (which gave you the room to do crazy stunts).

they didn't fix my m16 at all :(

The only assault rifle that they "changed" is the AN-94.

How do you control the helicopter? I get in, pilot it, and crash 10 seconds latter. :p

I did that generally with helicopters, not just in this but in BF Heroes as well. Haven't played the update yet so we'll see, been too preoccupied with Counter-Strike again :p

Doesn't matter to me it's unrealistic. It's more fun. You could do a damn sight more in BF2. Incoming Javelin? DO A BARREL ROLL.

Had a quick play last night first of all, lost all my custom bindings. Crouch seems broken for me (yes I am aware of the new crouch toggle).

At the moment, it is worse than before for me. But then again I haven't played in almost three weeks. So it may take a while to get back into the flow of things.

Finally finished getting platinum for my AUG, now I don't know what I'll use next, I'm thinking the 870mcs or the G3.

And my loading time problem seems to have gone away, I don't know if it was just a fluke last night or because I upgraded my graphics drivers. And the performance seems to be pretty good now in the game, I don't think I ever went below 50 fps while playing today.

The AUG? Much respect man. I class the AUG and F2000 are some of the crappiest weapons I have ever had the displeasure of using!

Apparently the G3 is the new M60.

Never had any problems with loading time. But my FPS has dropped by around 30 FPS. Used to get a solid 90 FPS, now it is hovering around 60FPS. I can tell the difference.

I would put the AUG on par with the M416, it's a really decent gun, imo. I may try the AEK next though, I'm not sure.

And I don't see how the G3 and the M60 can even be compared. The G3 only has a 20 round clip and can't use attachments. The main attraction with the M60 was that it could be spammed almost endless and turned into a sniper rifle with the acog scope. But if all the M60 spammers start using the G3 then I'll use something else, I don't want to be a band wagoner.

Are you perhaps thinking the G36 instead of just the G3?

On par with the M416? Are you having a laugh? M416 is a god like gun, compared to the puny mortal that is the Aug. It is no where as NEAR as good at the M416. AEK is decent and often under-rated gun (Y)

Dunno, might have been the G3/G36 but EVERYONE was using it.

Lately, I've been using the AUG and it isn't that good. I prefer the M416 over it because it has a similar rate of fire with better accuracy.

By the way, Singh400... I looked at your stats on BFBCS and damn, how the hell do you have 89% accuracy? Mine is only 33% and that's pretty high compared to the stats I've seen.

89 percent accuracy on what? Clicking on that page, gives me "Accuracy: 28%" and no weapon got 89%.

Pay no heed to any stats, especially accuracy. They are bugged as hell. One minute I'm 238% (no kidding) and the next I am 13%.

It showed 89% before. I wouldn't have linked his stats here otherwise.

You're right. It shows you as having 28% now. :s

I haven't touched the M416, AN-94, M16, or the XM8 since the last patch so I don't know what it's like now. So I'm comparing the post patch AUG to the pre R7 patch M416.

    • Poll: Grand Theft Auto VI price predictions, cast your vote by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe After years of waiting, Rockstar will be solidifying the launch date of Grand Theft Auto VI with the launch of pre-orders next week. While the studio has confirmed a date for this occasion, it is yet to attach a price to the highly anticipated game. So let's see what our readers think it will cost at launch. The Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders will kick off on June 25 for digital and physical editions. Unless some last-minute changes happen, the release date will be November 19, 2026, across Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Unfortunately, there's still no information about a PC version from the developer or the publisher Take-Two. Now the question becomes, how much will Grand Theft Auto VI cost at launch? The game is predicted by some analysts to be the biggest launch of an entertainment product ever. With the amount of hype that has been built behind it and with ballooning development costs, Take-Two may price this Grand Theft Auto entry differently from other AAA titles. The current price of a AAA game is $69.99. That norm almost rose to $79.99 before calming down. But with such a massive release, Grand Theft Auto VI may be the game that pushes the boundary again. It's also possible that Take-Two keeps the price relatively low to increase the number of players that jump in early and keep them hooked on Grand Theft Auto Online to spend on microtransactions for years to come. Keep in mind that the below poll is asking for a prediction of the standard edition price, not a deluxe or any other special edition that Take-Two will introduce for additional benefits. Also, there is also the chance of the company splitting up the campaign and online portions. If you think that will happen, put your vote on what you think will be the total cost of the two. • The Light of Life? We actually do glow till our Death, study finds by Sayan Sen Image by Rafael Rendon via Pexels A study by researchers at the University of Calgary has found that living organisms produce an extremely faint light known as ultraweak photon emission, and that this glow appears to drop significantly after death. The research was published in the Journal of Physical Chemistry in April 2025 and quickly drew widespread attention, leading to more than 200 news stories about the findings. Ultraweak photon emission (or UPE), sometimes called biophoton emission, refers to tiny amounts of light released by living cells as a result of normal biological activity. A photon is the basic particle of light, and researchers say every living system examined so far, including plants and animals, has been found to emit these photons. The glow is far too faint to be seen by the human eye. “I suppose it has a little to do with people being reminded of auras,” says Dr. Christoph Simon, PhD, one of the authors of the study and a professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy in the Faculty of Science. “It is a fact that living beings glow. It’s a very weak glow, but it’s there and visible with very sensitive cameras.” According to the study, the light involved is extremely weak, ranging from 10 to 1,000 photons per square centimetre per second across a spectral range of 200 to 1,000 nanometres. For comparison, a nanometre is one-billionth of a metre and is commonly used to measure wavelengths of light. Detecting emissions at such low levels requires highly specialized equipment. To study the phenomenon, researchers used electron-multiplying charge-coupled device (EMCCD) and charge-coupled device (CCD) cameras. These imaging systems are designed to detect extremely small amounts of light, including individual photons, while minimizing background noise. The technology allowed researchers to capture signals that would otherwise be impossible to observe. The team worked with the Human Health Therapeutics Research Centre at the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) in Ottawa to examine photon emissions in mice. Researchers took two-hour exposure images of the animals before and after death and compared the results. “We saw that the level of light that they emit – this biophoton glow – is distinctly different between living and dead animals,” says Dr. Daniel Oblak, PhD, an associate professor in Physics and Astronomy and the corresponding author of the study. The images showed a clear decrease in photon emissions after death across the entire body of each mouse. According to the researchers, this provided direct evidence that living and dead tissue produce different levels of ultraweak photon emission. “It’s a very small amount and it’s, of course, very tricky to detect,” Oblak says. The study grew out of discussions between Simon, whose research interests include quantum biology, and Oblak, whose work focuses on detecting light for quantum communication experiments. Quantum biology is a field that explores whether processes described by quantum physics, which studies matter and energy at very small scales, may also play a role in living systems. “Since I work as a quantum physicist on light detection for quantum communication, I thought that experimentally we have a lot of the tools to be able to detect the light,” Oblak explains. The researchers also investigated UPE in plants and found that the light changed in response to stress. When plants were exposed to higher temperatures or physically injured, their photon emissions increased. Chemical treatments also affected the glow. Among the substances tested, the local anesthetic benzocaine produced the strongest emission response when applied to injured plant tissue. These findings suggest that ultraweak photon emission is closely linked to biochemical and metabolic activity inside living organisms. Metabolism refers to the chemical reactions that allow cells and organisms to stay alive and function. Because these reactions change when an organism experiences stress, injury or disease, researchers believe UPE may provide a way to monitor those changes. The researchers stress that the glow is a physical and biological phenomenon, not a metaphysical one. Oblak says more research is needed to understand exactly how the light is produced and what information it may reveal about the condition of living tissue. “We must understand what that is to figure out what’s happening,” he says. “If we can understand how that relates to certain influences on the body – stress, diseases – then that could be used as a diagnostic tool.” The researchers believe the technique could eventually help scientists study health and disease without invasive procedures. Because UPE can be measured without adding dyes, markers or labels, it may offer a way to monitor whether tissue is healthy, damaged or alive. In plants, it could help researchers better understand how organisms respond to injury, heat and other forms of stress. While the work is still in its early stages, the study demonstrates that ultraweak photon emission imaging can provide a non-invasive and label-free way to observe biological activity. Researchers say the approach could become a useful tool for studying vitality, stress responses and other important processes in both animals and plants.
