^To add to that; Some people also only add panel lines to make it look like there are separated metal plates. That already adds loads to the details that are already in the MG models. Panel lining isn't an easy task though..

Also, stop posting PG RX versions basques. Else I can't stop the urge to buy a PG RX model myself, LOL  That PG RX model looks really great! (Y)

That PG RX looks awesome. Now when PG Strike Freedom comes out.. I MAY have to get it. I think I might go out today or tomorrow pick up a 1/144 since I have a couple weeks off till school Starts. I'll document everything! Is there a 1/144 that is a must have? Except the RG Rx-78-2.

Somehow got my uncle to get me PG RX-78 and Zeta when they are released.

Now after all these years, i think they are too big and take up space.

(I insist on keeping the boxes :p)

So I wouldn't think of getting another 1/60 kit.

I prefer SDs and HG 1/144 kits now.

A large portion of my collection are SD Mushas as I started from collecting SDs.

Well, the only 1/144 model that I HAD to have was the Saviour Gundam. I just love the look of it and it's impossible to get a 1/100 MG version of it as far as I know.

well there is the 1/100 HG version lol. I was thinking of picking up something old, but Iconic.

^True, though I wasn't able to get it in the Netherlands. Plus it would inconsistent with the rest of my MG models :p

@iron2000: I also always keep the boxes of all of my Gunpla's, even of all of my figurines for that matter.

Actually it's not bad.. The HG models are still on the scale of the 1/100MG's.. you just have to put some detail into them. Take my Exia for an example, I bought the HG version thinking the MG wouldn't come out.. when it did, it was approx. the same build. I mean just look at this..it's still bad ass.

soo.. any more suggestions for the 1/144?

$1k for a model? and i thought my DYRL transformable valkyrie was expensive at $300 cdn! XD

i have a rx78 PG, a zaku 2 pg that i messed up on so i keep it in the box 1 a 1/60 NG strike and a 1/100 MG reGZ right now. i really prefer to build the PG kits, and want to get a gundam mk2 PG as it's one of my favourite mobile suits.

i started building gunpla when i was fresh out of highschool like 10 years ago and the gundam wing gunplas were in toys r us. they weren't all that great, but with in a couple years they were releasing kits from different UC time line series, such as 08th ms team, with much higher quality and the whole inner frame thing.

unfortunately i've run out of display space in my room, and the nearest shop that sells kits with a limited selection that i have to actually get there first to see what they have because their website is severely out of date, is a 4 hour drive just to the city, and then more driving once there. the online sites i've found that sell them are japanese and they're more expensive before shipping from there than they are in the stores here.

my favourite mobile suits are all from the UC shows, except unicorn and ZZ which i think look terrible or silly. the exception is wing zero from teh show, not endless waltz, which is an awesome looking gundam imho. too bad the PG is the endless waltz version unfortunately. as far as shows go 0079 is still my favourite followed by zeta, and the seed series i think are the worst in every way, although i couldn't get past the first few episodes due to the silly story telling and awful japanese and english dub voice actors.

what i would give for a remake of 0079 with the original english voice actors! they still do work on gundam games released in NA btw :D

here is a gundam review site i found http://gunpla-inochi.com/ although it seems he's put gunpla on hold to spam kamen rider figurines instead, which i don't like the look of. still lots of great gunplay reviews.

^I hate dubs :p I rather have the original Japanese voices in my anime.

@Razorwing: I've got all the 3rd gen 00 Gundam Meister suits. Exia is one of them and although they look decent, they still look out of place among MG models IMO :p

^I hate dubs :p I rather have the original Japanese voices in my anime.

if a dub sucks yeah i'll go with subtitles, and that's usually the case, but some dubs are actually worth watching, and i find them more enjoyable to watch because instead of reading the subs i am looking at the action.

0079 is a good dub, and so is evangelion. i watched eva with subs the second time around and the last two episodes in particular weren't as enjoyable. though most people don't like eva's ending. zeta had a good dub as well.

on the other hand, macross plus for example was terrible in english dub, and so seed was far worse in english than japanese.

I guess it's just the style.. unless you got MG Exia.. I think it's quite the same. Btw, I JUST saw the 1st Episode for Unicorn :D. I think I know what I'm getting tomorrow!

I guess I have to go for the 144 one as I don't have money for the MG.

I just started watching unicorn, but for now, i'm in love with Mobile G series. :)

Didn't they make a life sized gundam in japan not long ago? :D

Yes they did. odaiba_gundam44.jpg

makes me REALLY want the RG RX-78 now.

For you pleasure Capric0rn :shifty: , here are some more pics:

Also that macross Valkyrie was one of the most enjoyable models I ever built. The same size as a MG gundam, but incredible details, lots of panelling options and fully transformable. As I am a huge fan of the original macross, I was ecstatic while building this one:

I can't recommend the valkyrie highly enough. Go get it :shiftyninja:

This is the box/price I guess

I got all my gundams from Tokyo, so can't really compare the prices.

^....I hate you  Those are looking damn nice! :D That EVA 01 model also looks pretty great. I only have a Revoltech EVA 02 model at the moment unfortunately.

@Razorwing: That photo of the 1/100 is why I love my MG 1/100 RX-78 so much :D I wish I had bought MG Exia instead of HG Exia. It's not THAT noticeable. But it's lacking some typical stuff like stickers and all that. The boxes that came with the 1/100 HG looked great though! Got the one from Virtue framed which is now hanging on a wall :)

Gundam Unicorn is pretty great with the mix of classic anime looks and new anime technology. They're even using those classic ambient sounds like explosions etc :D Like a proper UC anime series should be. It's unfortunate that the release schedule is so stupid. We get to see 2 episodes each year which leaves us with 1 left for this year and 4 for the next 2 years. Oh well, we've still got that Gundam 00 movie as well :D

@treemonster: Dubs just feel un-natural to me imo. It's just personal preference though :p I just rather watch my anime in Japanese because I just love the language :)

That is no 1/100. That is 1:1. Yeah I wish I didn't buy HG Exia. The MG version has light up AND the MG REPAIR.. OMG.. GN CLOTH! .. oh well . At least move on.. lol. Well for Unicorn I guess each episode MUST be really good. :D It's probably worth the wait. Any idea when the 00 Movie is coming out? I've only seen teasers..

SO.. I"ll ask again.. any other suggestions for my 1st 1/144?

@Razorwing: I see I managed to screw my post up, lol. While typing I even thought about "Lets get these measurements right. Type 1/1 and 1/100" but of course I HAD to screw it up XD

The 00 movie is going to be in theaters this coming September. That is if they haven't changed the schedule.

No idea what other 1/144 model you should get. I haven't really been looking at 1/144 models for a long time.

maybe I should just get the RX-78.. that's if I can find it. I didn't have time today (was doing a Saw Marathon :D) but I should be able tomorrow.

anyone here play dynasty warriors gundam 1 or 2?

i had about 100 hours in each, which mean most characters in teh first one maxed out and amuro with full parts, and in teh second one the story missions done and one character about 50 missions done in non story (?) mode.

tbh while 2 was an improvement in graphics and game play for the most part, some of my favourite suits from the first one were gimped, i ddin't like how the suit customization was done, or the powers were done, the fact eh soldier suits were so gimp bu there were mission to take out mobile armours with them or grind 500 mobs, or how ridiculoisly har dsome of th emissions were or the hard dificulty was.

both were pretty fun overall though, and gave me multiple nerdgasms being able to fly my favourite mobile suits. and for the story mode they uised the original english dub voice actors for amuro and char, which was quite a treat.

  • 4 months later...

wow haven't posted here forever! Yes I have played DW Gundam 1 and 2. It belonged to my friends.

Some of the new customs are freaking amazing!

    • NVIDIA officially supports Ubuntu, as linked above with the GeForce NOW Hands on I did in collaboration with Paul Hill.
    • TO be clear I am not running linux today, however I keep thinking about it. And I want to make sure there are minimal obstacles if I decide to make that switch in the coming months.
    • Yes, I actually glossed over the Linux part from the OP. You could always go for a 9070 XT and if you really want to play Ray Traced games in the future, GeForce Now is pretty damn good on Linux https://www.neowin.net/news/nvidias-native-geforce-now-app-for-linux-bridges-the-gaming-gap-hands-on/
