A Very Rare Moment at Wrestlemania 26

Recommended Posts

Again if you can do a moonsault onto a wooden table and not feel pain, let us know.

The training required to withstand such pain and the fact that it's all scripted are two completely different things.

I will give you this, they are athletes. That's a very personal opinion but to me wrestling is a big joke and I always had a very hard time figuring out what brings people to watch that "sport". It's kinda like magic tricks, once you know it's all fake it really loses its appeal. Then again, Magic is fascinating as opposed to wrestling.

You mean like this?

lol... stupidity really has no boundaries.

It's not always we get to see The Undertaker drop character and shake the hand of his opponent. This is a very rare, special moment.

I don't know about SPECIAL... or RARE. But OLD and/or GAY comes to mind. Call me a troll all you want but I'm absolutely amazed that these people are still alive let alone wrestling. Even more amazed that people still watch this soap apera bs..lol

I'm just as amazed that people watch MMA. It may be real, but I don't find 5 minutes of laying on the mat curled up with some guy constantly hugging your ass appealing either.

Also, gay? Really? Grow up, 10 year old.

Yes, Gay. Is there any other word for a 44 year old man in tights called "The heartbreak kid"? Say what you want about MMA but it's real. Real people, real athletes, real talent. If you find MMA boring, that's fine, you're entitled to think that. I happen to find boxing boring, but I can accept that they have talent as apposed to the actors in the WWE. I expect to hear the argument that they are athletes because they work out and take steroids, so go ahead and say it, you're just discrediting yourself. When you have a "sport" where there are leaked spoilers regarding a potential winner, you're kidding yourself if you really think it's a sport.

You are obviously not a wrestling fan and you certainly don't seem to know anything about respect. By shaking Shawn Michaels hand, The Undertaker is showing true respect, something he could have done backstage after the match, but instead he dropped his character and did it in the ring and that is something he has never done before since he is not allowed to drop off his character in the ring for any reason whatsoever. None of them are, especially him because of the nature of his character.

Shawn Michaels gave him a hell of a last performance and chose him to "end" his career and he respects that and that is why he did what he did.

...Children...Gotta explain everything to them so they understand...

Nobody is questioning pain. The people from Jackass felt pain when they did stunts too. Money will make people do crazy things. But because they do a "moonsault" as you call it, doesn't make them an athlete, it just makes them another fool entertaining people for money.

LMAO. It's so amuzing that you can call me a child, whilst explaining a scripted act between 2 40 something year olds in tights who show each other respect (while in the spotlight) and not behind the scenes. Do you realize how ridiculous you sound?

You're right, I don't like wrestling. But someone shaking hands in the ring ONCE every ten years is NOT RESPECT. YOU are the one who obviously doesn't know anything about respect. I could respect this alot more if it happened more often, and the fact that it doesnt' because actors aren't allowed to break character is just foolish. I didn't come into this thread to beat a dead horse with the MMA vs Wrestling argument until FrozenEclipse brought up MMA, but since he did I'll gladly mention that shaking hands and showing respect happens after EVERY SINGLE FIGHT in mma, not just special occasions or when it suits the mood.

Scripted wrestling, scripted "reality" shows. They are the lowest common demonimator shows in the US and unsurprisingly the most popular.

Do you think wrestling is rubbish because it's scripted? If so, I bet you watch other scripted shows like comedies and drama shows. If you think that, do you also hate movies because they are scripted? I'm not saying you do think that; I'm just asking because I know some hypocrites who hate wrestling simply because it's scripted but then watch other scripted things like movies, Friends, 24 etc.

(Y) This.

Well many people think hockey is pretty old and gay so whatever. Everyone has an opinion.

We get it, you're gay as well, thanks, moving on now...

You mean like this?

Yes, except the wrestlers actually have safety procedures on how to excute some moves which these 2 morons lack.

The wrestlers act as they go. A actor could say cut because he has to take a sip of water.

Do movies lose its appeal because you know they are fake?

This is like a computer tech. You don't pay them to push the button, you pay them to push the correct button.

Same thing here and in movies: You pay them because they do it correctly and not like the dumbasses that warwagon posted earlier

Is that really the route you're taking? So basically what your saying is that if for example i watch an episode of friends, and let's say that one of the characters is holding a football, that would make him an athlete right? I don't dislike wrestling because it's scripted, we've all known this for a very long time and i'm ok with that. What i'm not ok with is people passing these ACTORS off as athletes or actual wrestlers, when a good 90% of them just want to be big and entertain people. And NO, doing moonsaults and/or smashing tables and chairs does NOT make you a wrestler, it makes you a WWE entertainer.

Well many people think hockey is pretty old and gay so whatever. Everyone has an opinion.

oooh hit me where it hurts??? You WWE fanboys take everything so serious.. the Gay comment was not aimed specifically against WWE, it was directed towards the pic, which looked a tad bit gay..lol

We get it, you're gay as well, thanks, moving on now...

You would like that wouldn't you. I bet you get wood when you see the heartbreak kid in his tights.

You do know picking people heavier than you up requires SOME strength and again is not acting right?

Im not saying they are the best athletes in the world but they do require some training.

I totally get that, i really do. Also, thank you for the intelligent reponse instead of random comments about how hockey can be gay. I understand that they do go through quite a bit of training to do things properly as to not get injured, but I still don't consider them "wrestlers" per say, they are still just trained actors.

Agreed. Of course they are well maintained and strong, but it's mostly for show. I mean you don't have to be good looking to be an actor, but it certainly helps. But just being physically strong does not make you an athlete, or you could say someone like Michael Clarke Duncan is an athlete.

I respect wrestling industry for what it does... sure it's not real sure they're not "competing" but it requires tallent and skill to work the crowd and to put on a good show. The people at the top of the industry, for the most part, are there because they are able to "work" very well on all levels - able to go over and put a crowd over. It's a skillset that not everyone has, and say all you want about MMA, they'd love to be able to do what the WWE does on a weekly basis in terms of getting their fans invested and emotional.

Not saying MMA and Wrestling are the same thing....but they're both exhibition "sports" that relay heavily on the audience caring enough to show up. MMA's a natural sport and that in and of itself is nice, but dragging fans through the soap-opera like storylines makes the fan invested in a different way.

That said, the Undertaker is a talleted worker.

Very well said. I totally agree that they are good at what they do. As far as getting fans invested it's not as black and white as you made it seem. WWE has been around for ages, and I for one was invested as a child in it, but MMA is relatively new and is growing incredibly quickly. The thing is the people that are still invested in WWE are mostly people who have stuck with the company from day one and are loyal, you can see it when you watch PPV's, there are alot of 40-60 demo in attentance, whereas MMA crowds are usually 18-35 demo, so I think as time goes by your going to see MMA takeover where WWE once was because there is not as many young people invested in WWE as there are in MMA.

    • Ah. La Fontana De Incontinentia ! Bella ! Bella !
    • Hi everyone, I'm planning a small network upgrade and was wondering how others prepare their networks for future needs. Do you usually invest in higher-speed switches and better cabling from the start, or do you upgrade only when necessary? I'd be interested in hearing what has worked well for you and any lessons you've learned over time. Thanks!
