Chrome 5 won't support AeroPeek...

Yes, it has worked fine since Opera introduced Windows 7 integration.

You called him an amateur. You said he was unprofessional. You said his code was buggy. You said he writes bad code. You misrepresented his statements.

He did not say his code was buggy. He said it needed changes. Code can require architectural changes without being buggy. It doesn't matter if he said it was just a simulation. What matters is that you are claiming that he is writing bad code, which is an insult.

Shame on you for treating developers like dirt for taking the time to respond to public questions and comments. Behavior like yours ensures that developers stop responding.

No one is denying that the feature is missing. The problem here is exactly your wording.

I am not treating developers like dirt, I respect them. When someone works for a Google project, I expect more professionalism.

Opera 10.51 has it and it works great.

Just installed 10.51....

tab previews with 3 tabs open...opera check, chrome check

tab previews 21+ tabs... opera check, chrome check, firefox XXXX

window displays correct tab/not blank on mouseover... opera check, chrome XXXX

right click on areo peak thumbnail/menu item displays menu... opera check, chrome check

and this one's really important because I'd like to use this when my secondary monitor (tv) is attached but not set to vga.

the right click menu items work correctly..... opera XXXX, chrome XXXX.

It's like those bitter elderly people who bitch about kids today being rude, but have no problem insulting people to their faces for no reason. What nonsense.

So what if their developers aren't moving fast with this minor feature? Many developers elsewhere can't get their browser close to the speed of Chrome. Opera actually managed to do well in playing catch up, but others are still pretty far off.

This is just pathetic... I love how Apple has put in the effort to make their products integrate well with Windows 7 just like they would on Mac OS X Snow Leopard. Microsoft has done the same with all their offerings on Windows 7. If Firefox and Chrome are indeed popular, Mozilla and Google should be responsible like Microsoft was with the browser ballot and understand they need to fully support all operating systems that their offerings are on. Apple fanboys are all out there bragging about everything being so neat and cool, and on Windows 7, everybody wants to use it's features in the ads, and certain apps don't take advantage of it, but on Mac, every app instantly gets updated to take advantage of the new 200+ features.... I'm tired of the damn inconsistency. I want to use Aero Peek on a browser I like but those damn companies chose to be inconsistent and not support basic shell features! All of you here defend them and say how you hated that feature, well guess what! Expose on Snow Leopard is damn appreciated and on Windows 7, Aero Peek should too! You shouldn't be defending them for doing such a terrible job at integration!

Ive just noticed something, why has all these new accounts popped up with the sole intention of bashing Chrome and its devs?

It just seems a bit too coincidental if you ask me lol :(

And Petvas, if this forum isnt for you as you say it, why are you still here? We dont need people moaning about petty little things like this. When it is done, it will be done, either fix it yourself, or deal with it. Its that simple! And yes you may be in the IT industry, but guess what, so am I and I know for a fact that some eye candy feature like this is the last thing they care about! In fact, most of the time Aero is turned straight off alltogether on corporate builds.

His response was perfectly reasonable. What did you expect? That the code would magically change itself from one second to the next?

He did not say that his code was buggy. Nor did he say it was bad. I explained exactly why your claim about buggy code is bogus. Stop attacking him and misrepresenting his statements.

The developer was very professionally, and explained to you exactly what the situation was. What else did you expect?

Then there should be an option to disable it, just like in IE 8. I am just stating a fact here: Opera, Safari and IE8 have full support for Windows 7. Chrome & Firefox don't....Now from all these browsers, who has an open source development model?

For the record, IE8 still holds the title for 'full support.' Safari doesn't have Jumplists, and for Opera, their Aero Peek implementation is a bit broken (try right clicking a thumbnail, click Restore or Maximize, and watch what happens).

I am just stating the fact that of all browsers that run under Windows 7, only two do not properly support Windows 7: Chrome and Firefox. You can talk about how great Chrome is for as long as you want to, but that won't change that fact!
Chrome does support Windows 7, as it works flawlessly on it. It does support AeroPeek, as you can see a full-screen preview of what the browser is displaying by hovering over its icon (which is the definition of AeroPeek). It behaves differently in that regard from IE, Opera and Safari, which force all their tabs individually into AeroPeek; but it's not because you can do something that you have to do it, and it's not because 3 of the major browsers do it that it's the right thing to do. Many users (including me, and several others on this thread) argue the opposite and find the multi-preview annoying/confusing. They prefer the behavior of Chrome and Firefox, or at least don't mind either.

So stop pretending Chrome doesn't "support" or "fully support" Windows 7. It supports Windows 7, and it supports Aero Peek. Windows 7 does not dictate how a browser should use the AeroPeek feature; the only one dictating arbitrary rules here is you.

Shoot, even Steam now has proper Win7 support with the current beta. Google just doesn't have any excuses, hence the amateur response they gave.

Bare in mind that 85%-90% of this site are Google fan-boys so it truly is pointless to argue stuff like this... It's like arguing with a MS or Apple fan-boys, 20 pages of pointless back and forth arguing... But that's just my opinion and you can put that in your pipe and smoke it.

When implementing a hard feature in software, code is often buggy until the developer gets it right; developers don't always get it right first time - even code for one feature may be re-written, until it is fine. That is not amateur, it's just the nature of software development.

I really don't get how people get offended because I am complaining about Chrome...If it was IE I was complaining about, everybody would be with me...

I expected to find more civilized responses but instead many people here start defending Chrome because it is probably a "cool" product and the majority likes it..

Please stop assuming that everyone else is as immature as you are. This is hardly about which product you're trying to bash, this is about your own whining attitude.

I would never contribute in developing for Chrome, even if I could! I am not a developer and I am not going to support a company like Google without getting paid to do it.

But you fully expect to use Chrome without paying a single cent for it, and cry and whine like no tomorrow, make false accusations, and hurl personal insults and unfounded insinuations at the developers when your personal pet feature gets pushed back a few months?

People of your selfishness and immaturity really disgust me. This forum would be far better off without people like you, and I really hope your behavior isn't as loathsome in real life.

I mean, it kinda defeats the purpose of having tabs in the first place. The purpose of having tabs was to reduce taskbar clutter. And for me, my daily browsing often comprises over 20 tabs, which will inevitably display as an ugly vertical list since there's not enough horizontal space.

Overall, there is a lot of drama in this thread for a minor eye-candy feature. If this is an essential item for some of you then just use another browser.

I hate AeroPeek with a passion and I hope there will be an option to turn it off a la IE9, or at least give me an option to automatically switch back to the last opened tab.

AeroPeek can be globally disabled. I linked to the instructions earlier in this thread. I have a feeling we'll all be bored of it in a few months as I don't see how it increases efficiency. When XP first came out it had all sorts of extra eye-candy enabled and it only took me a few months before I came to the conclusion that almost all of them can be disabled.
