Apparently this game leaked earlier, my mate text me at some ridiculous hour this morning to tell me this like a giddy child.

Jesus christ. Already? :/

Edit: Wow, he's right. Didn't MS lawyer up over a leak of their previously published games? Someone's going to be in trouble!

?60 for a second hand console you can only play offline vs ?30-40 a pop for every new release. I doubt it'd ever make a difference.

Oh yeah I forgot you could swap the hard drives no strings attached.

Ah well they'd be best to still do it to catch out people who don't have two consoles, and we still don't know how they ban, it's possible information is saved alongside your play log/achievements so even if you update on another console you could still be caught.

Well, if you're playing a review build the achievements will obviously be tagged differently so that could catch you when you swap hard drives to upload your achievements.

Also we know for a fact even people with two consoles play copied MP games online.

Still worth banning accounts, but they never will to keep the gold funds incoming.

I think the whole "review copy" thing is a myth tbh. The team behind the firmware seem to be adamant that the update process was the cause behind consoles being flagged. However that can't be the sole way they target as lots of people didn't update their console of course.

I've been thinking recently that the games themselves are tagged. With the increase of games that have "special marks" on them to receive DLC or extras, ala Halo 3 ODST (there isn't a beta token, it just knows you're allowed entry via the disc), it wouldn't be impossible for them to mark leaked games either.

Pretty much the same way ransom money is marked.

Dayum, thats a shame :( want this game to do well I dont think piracy will help, this game is set to be a masterpiece like max payne.

Yup it is a shame when games leak so early, had someone on MSN showing me the game on webcam earlier.

I'm undecided about Alan Wake, it looks interesting... I just have so many other games I would like to play once i finish my Uni work.

How would you tell the difference when some one gets hold of a retail copy early and uploads it to the internet? the files on the disc would be identical to the original.

Microsoft would have to leak the game before some one leaks a retail copy to specially mark it it some way, still it could happen... if Microsoft don't leak a watermarked copy some one else will leak a retail copy at some point.

Because perhaps it's the discs that are marked, not the data. Someone feel free to see if you can play the Reach beta with a copied disc and we'll find out :p

Pity, I was hoping for one so I could make my mind up on the game.

The guy down in Walmart is handing out copies just now rofl.gif

I think there will probably be a demo at some point, maybe a few months after release?

    • "Revelation?" I was hoping for this episode to be called "Reunion". Oh, well... In a related note, the Final Fantasy VII compilation has received an EC entry, short for Ever Crisis. For those who don't know, it already had AC, BC, CC, and DC entries, short for Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus. I hope it doesn't get an FC entry becaude that would be a freakin' crisis.
    • Uh, after intense testing now, 'Samsung Browser' is not the best one outside of 'Microsoft Edge' after all. Opera Air is that. It has "some" bloat, but it's far less than what both Microsoft Edge and Brave browser have.

So kick back, relax, and hold on to your wallets. The Epic concluded its mystery giveaways this week with another double freebie promotion.
