[Official] Red Dead Redemption

Had loads in Game in Lakeside, nothing at Bluewater? or you not this side of Kent?

To be honest, i didn't go all the way to Bluewater which is around 25 minutes away in a car. Just checked the supermarkets, game shops and a Toys R Us in my town and one next to us. Ah well, probably worth checking around where i work in London.

Not in a huge rush any more as i won't be able to play it till the weekend.

Another thing happened when I was riding around out in the sticks somewhere when a man runs over a hill towards my horse as I was cantering along a road. He tells me his buddy is about to be hanged by some no good for nothings and unless I help he is going to die. So off I set at full pace over the hill to find this guy hanging from a tree with three men on horseback cheering, immediately I let rip with my repeater but unfortunately due to my fast pace I overshoot the area and turn back for a second assault. With all three dead I try and shoot the guy down from the tree (that's what they do in the movies at least :p) and either I missed or that's not what I was meant to do because that guy just stops struggling and starts to slowly turn and blow in the breeze. I felt kind of bad about this one :(

I had the same problem, the first time i tried to shoot the guys before aiming for the rope, which meant the guy died, also i shot him in the leg by accident. But when i retried it it took me five shots before i actually managed to hit the rope, but that was still too long and he died. I'm guessing you have to use the red eye gadget to get there quick enough and shoot him before you kill the other guys

Yea, aim for the rope first and use dead-eye. Also it becomes much easier once you have the second or third level of dead-eye as the rope can be targeted with the red cross in the same way as people. Just be careful you don't target the person on the second level as it is quite easy to do. :p

Anyone got any tips for the duels? I manage to get through them by luck after 3 or 4 tries, but often I set the targets, press "shoot" and it does nothing. Then I get shot. :/

The trick is not to kill them :shifty: Aim, Dead eye the hand, shoot. Then you get a nice reward.

Finally won at horseshoes and also got the achievement for getting a ringer. I just found a fairly hard swing forward and clicking RT right in the middle to work for me. Just takes some playing with to find a good stroke.

So was riding to armadillo to start a mission and on the way a lawman needed help with 2 prisoners who escaped. I killed the first one and hogtied the second Guy went to return him to the lawman and I mistakenly ran into him with my horse. All of a sudden it says failed and the lawman starts shooting at me cause I assaulted him. LOL I also failed a mission cause I ran into someone with my horse and it said I was terrorizing the locals. Wish it was a little more forgiving considering it's pretty damn easy to run into people with your horse. Oh well just have to be a bit more careful.

Thats what she said

I barely started this game but that doesnt bode well for me.. my first time riding the horse it felt very clunky to me. I need to finish Alan Wake before moving on to this time consuming game..

After playing Assassins creed 2 for a while, and then going onto red dead redemption, the controls of the horse are quite different :p. I've played on RDR for about 6 hours now and it is very time consuming, sometimes I don't know where to start!

The treasure map, I've found where the tree and rocks are, but can't figure out where the x marks the spot is! slightly frustrating so I've left that for a bit :pinch:

this game any good? brokeback mountain kinda ruined western themed stuff for me :(

Ahaha, I can see how that would happen :).

Anyways, I started playing on Saturday, and I'm enjoying it quite a bit so far. This is the first sandbox game that I've played since Fallout 3, and I completely forgot just how addictive these kinds of games can be for me. I think I spent an hour last night just collecting skins and selling them. Then once I started to get bored, I played some Five Finger Fillet, got into a duel, and finally got around to doing a mission after that. Rockstar definitely did an awesome job with the variety here. I'll definitely be taking my time with this one.

Like many people, I initially had doubts regarding how much I would like this game because of its Western setting. I've been largely indifferent when it comes to Western-themed entertainment (despite the fact that I live in Alberta), and it's safe to say that most Western-themed games up until now have been quite bad. I think having a likeable main character definitely helped draw me in though.

And you get more used to the horse controls, but I can say they never feel super smooth, and I think that is actually intentional, as it is after-all, a horse. But you do get used to it.

I am one of those people that were hesitant and as you know I am no longer, but I bolded out what you said as it really did not hit me until I read it written by you. It really is a HUGE part of why I like this game, and that is I really truly like John Marston. So much so I have played the game 110% as a good guy. The only time I have had a bounty on me is when one of the missions put it on me. Other than that, I truly have played as a straight up good guy. As I said a few posts back, there was the one case where I mistakenly got a bounty, and I actually loaded my latest save which luckily was just a few minutes prior to that, as I did not want that little "blemish" on my character.

This is truly a huge remarkable thing that Rockstar has pulled off IMO. The GTA series, by nature, even when a person was more or less a good person like Niko was, it still encouraged people to be bad overall. So for them to pull off the exact opposite, when we as players of their games are so used to the being bad part, and me not even have to think twice about it and want to be good, well that is truly a testament to how well made this game is. At least IMO.

They better give this game the Game of the year award because its epic. Just can't play it right now got into a little accident with a knife at work now i can't move my left thumb  God i hate when this **** happens why couldn't it be my leg or something, you know a body part thats useless lol.

Had a few glitches here, the worst seems to be that I linked my account with the social club which unlocked a suit to play poker in, but in every subsequent load of the game the suit is no longer there or available :(

Another one was a stranger mission about getting deeds for a guy who had found water, I bought the deeds for $200 and took them back but when I got back he complained that I shouldnt have killed the guy, which I hadn't done. Another was another stranger mission about missing people, after looking for two people, I was tying up my horse in Armadillo and bumped into someone when it announced that the task had failed :( I think the games logic had failed rather than the mission!!

Same thing on my end but if you look at the details of the suit it says we have to purchase it from a tailor somewhere. I do not remember off hand where it says. So the wording is definitely wrong as we need to do something else to get the suit. And I wanted to cheat at poker!!!

Yes, but the thing is, when I first added my details to Socialclub the suit appeared in the clothing section, it was the default clothes, then gentlemans suit, then assassins suit (which I have to do some things to unlock). The gentlemans suit was fully unlocked and wearable (I tried it and he looked very dandy :)). Next time I played the game it was gone :(

Far as I know, you have to get the suit from the tailor. When I went to get the suit, the tailor wasn't even in the shop. I would hear "Welcome, come on in" (or something like that) and no-one was in the room.

I ended up saving and going back to the shop from another hideout, and he was finally in there. I haven't played yet tonight so I don't know if I'm going to have the same issue as John does with it not being there. I too want to cheat at poker

I've been the exact same way. I'm the kind of player who always goes through games as a nice guy when given the option (I don't think I ever lost karma in Fallout 3), but this time I never even considered acting like a jerk. It feels too weird for John Marston to steal or push people around.

So.. quick question... I just started playing - I was following the dog and patrolling the ranch. I killed two guys who were fighting and then returned to some guy to collect my reward. After that... nothing happened, the dog just laid down. Do I need to keep patrolling the ranch? Granted I only played another 2 min after I killed them but I just want to make sure I didnt miss something (I skipped the cut scenes and now have no clue how I got from the fort to some ranch...)

    • This seems backwards. You should have to explicitly authorize files for outside use. It shouldn't be the default.
    • Wow you are right, I never even noticed this until you said it! (870E Aorus Master) Before testing this card I had a TP-Link tx401 10GbE PCIe card in that slot (now using XikeStor 310 Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter).
    • Lack of 5.1 makes this a no sale. What I really wish creative would make would be a USB version that supports 5.1 analog audio for speakers, can switch to headphone mode, and matches the specs of their top tier cards. The current X870E AMD motherboards dont have a great option for adding a PCIE x1 card without cutting down pcie lanes to the graphics card.
    • The Microsoft Office feature that time forgot by Usama Jawad I have been actively using Microsoft Word for the past couple of decades in academic, professional, and personal capacities. Although I used it through the perpetual version of Office apps at the start, I have been an active subscriber of Microsoft 365 Family subscription for over five years now. This means that my Word installation is regularly updated with new features, some of which I don't really like, but that's beside the point. As new features get continuously added, old ones that used to be a staple of Word have started to take a backseat. While I was reminiscing over my Windows experiences from my childhood today, I suddenly remember one such capability that I heavily used in my younger years but have not really touched in over a decade, and haven't seen in documents created by others either. That feature is WordArt. Just to clarify, WordArt is not a Microsoft product specific to Word, and is included in other Office apps like PowerPoint and Excel too. However, Microsoft Word is the app that I used Word Art in heavily, while making assignments or other deliverables for school. If you're unaware, WordArt offers a collection of styling techniques for text, introducing 3D effects like shadows and reflections in the text. It used to be one of the coolest things ever when I was at school and me and my classmates would often compete to ensure that our assignment's title in WordArt was truly the best and stood out above the rest. See some examples of WordArt, still present in the latest versions of Word below: Although WordArt is undeniably cool, it has taken a bit of a backseat, and has been relegated from the Home tab to the Insert toolbar, along with a bunch of other utilities, making it very easy to miss. This isn't exactly surprising because WordArt doesn't really have a place in academic and professional documents anymore, and while I have seen some creatives using it while developing promo material, even that sector has gravitated more towards dedicated graphic designing tools in the past years. For the vast majority of us, WordArt doesn't really exist, and that's alright. At least, it's still an option that can allow us to reminisce our childhood or even make some quick text stylization, if we really need it. Perhaps its usage has waned over time or the novelty has worn off, but I haven't even seen children use it in their academic assignments anymore. In fact, many don't even know that it exists. Maybe that's the fate of every beloved feature. What once felt cutting edge eventually becomes a relic, quietly tucked away as tastes, trends, and technology move on. WordArt may no longer dominate school assignments or decorate the covers of classroom projects, but for those of us who grew up with it, it remains a colorful reminder of a time when making text glow, bend, and cast giant shadows felt like the height of creativity. Hidden behind a few clicks in modern Word, it still survives not as a productivity tool, but as a small piece of computing nostalgia that refuses to disappear.
