[Official] Red Dead Redemption

Same thing on my end but if you look at the details of the suit it says we have to purchase it from a tailor somewhere. I do not remember off hand where it says. So the wording is definitely wrong as we need to do something else to get the suit. And I wanted to cheat at poker!!!

Different suit. He's talking about the Gentleman's Attire. You're talking about the Elegant Suit.

Ahhhh okay so then it's completely broken for me as it doesn't even show up on my end and it said I got it too for that rockstar club or whatever it's called. It would just be under outfits right?

Yup it should just show up under outfits. It was there after I registered and linked my account on Socialclub, and on the next play through the suit was gone :(

Ok so I randomly found a sheriff who had lost two prisoners. I hog tied them and brought them back to the sheriff (laying them at his feet). He said thanks and then proceeded to shoot the prisoners point blank while they were helpless. What's up with that?

Yeah I remember that one, went out my way not to kill them only for the dirty sheriff todo it :p

This game has officially one over my non gamer friend. It's not like he hates video games or anything, he just hates how much time my friend and I spend on them sometimes. After watching me play for about 20 minutes, he asked if he could try. I turned off auto save and let him go wild. He actually ended up trying missions and learning the controls very quickly.

Besides the above, my other gamer friend has been playing this game constantly. He is a fairly tough critic when it comes to games but recently Alan Wake was able to win him over (easily) and he now says that RDR is better than GTA IV.

Bravo Rockstar!

This is a question for those who have finished the game. I just got to Black Water yesterday and did a few missions there. I know I'm pretty close to finishing the game, but my question is (and no spoilers other than answering the question please) when you finish the game, is it like GTA where you're still free to roam around and complete side quests/missions you may have missed previously? I'm trying to get the achievement for doing missions for 15 random people, but I only have like half of them so far.

I only just completed it last night and was able to continue free-roaming. The stranger missions and random events were still appearing so I guess everything continues to be achievable.

After this, I'd much rather have another Red Dead game before another GTA. GTA IV wasn't a bad game, but by comparison it seemed much longer (it may not be) and the missions far more repetitive.

indeed you can.

Cool, that's good to know. I want to keep doing the bounty missions, gang hideouts and other jobs. This game has been awesome. Right now it's a good fight between this and Mass Effect 2 for my game of the year.

Hope DL doesn't read this but I know he was struggling with the Horse Shoe Achievement in a post he made a while back. On my second practice throw I threw a ringer but apparently the achievement must only count if you are playing for money. :(

No worries, prior to when I posted, I really only tried it for a few minutes, and for whatever reason I just did not get it. Once I put my mind to it, I figured it out once I really tried it. I got the ringer achievement pretty shortly after as well. I actually just played a round in some little town in the Northwest of the map when just roaming around, and got like 5 ringers in the game and it was over real fast. Now I am a pro.

I also got the one Achievement playing Liar's Dice and winning without losing any dice. Was actually pretty easy in the one and one match that you have to put up $200 to get in. I am about 8-9 hours in and something like 30% through. I just keep getting side tracked and doing the smaller stuff. I am actually on the part

where you are supposed to cross into Mexico with Irish

but I was just going back around the North of the map and getting all of the stranger missions done before I headed South.

So I actually do have two questions.

What wound up happening

when you saved Bonnie? I was able to shoot her off the rope no problem at all, so she did not die by hanging

but my phone rang when the cut-scene started right afterward, and I totally missed what she said???

Now all I know is no more missions no longer show up with her at all, no longer a B icon on the map, so did she tell John to get lost or something? Did she wind up dying somehow and I missed it? Basically I am wondering why is she completely out of the picture now?

My other questions is for Level 6 of the Sharpshooter Challenge, all it says is you have to

shoot the hats off of 2 people, can you just do it in one Dead Eye round? Can it be two different people?

I tried it at one point and though I got it, but it just did not work for whatever reason.

Or does it mean with 1 bullet?

I just have to say this is EASILY one of my favorite games in the past few years. Without any doubt. I actually also rented from Gamefly Split Second and Blur, and I actually quite enjoyed Split Second when I checked it out, and Blur I loved the beta, and I have not touched either since I got Red Dead. Literally have not even put Blur into my drive. I also have Mod Nation Racers for the PS3 which I also did check out for an hour or two and I really like it, and finally I have Super Mario Galaxy 2 which I am totally looking forward to playing, and I have zero desire to play any of them. I am all about Red Dead Redemption. Just wish I had more time to play than I do so I could beat it sooner than later.

Bonnie is fine and appears later on. She basically says thanks (looking a bit of a mess) and then heads home.

Did that one last night and it took 20 civilian sacrifices before I finally figured it out. It can be done with two different people and in two dead eye meters and with two different shots. I found the best way was to go in to dead eye but not set any targets (which seem to hit the head). Instead I manually aimed for the brim of the hat (didn't try flat caps).

It's taken over my life too.

Kick ass thanks for the responses. (Y) Good to hear about her, and yeah I kept getting into it with people as well trying Level 6. I was like there has to be a better way than this!

Got the game this afternoon. My first impression is why didn't I hear about this Game ages ago!? I must have been living under a rock because I hadn't heard about this game until about a week ago and it is so good. I absolutely love it. I've got the PS3 version but I'll probably get it again for PC when that launches. I did that with GTA4, bought it twice.

I love Sandbox games and this is probably one of the best ones I've ever played.

Completed the game today, finally! i think i've clocked about 22 hours, that's probably the longest story i've ever played. it's such a massive game, unfortunately i sort of lost track of what was going on during the story during mexico, but i caught back up with everything after that.

one of the most powerful endings i've ever had the privilege of experiencing

for people who have finished the game:

do you like playing as jack? i personally don't really like him, he's too arrogant and not as likeable as john was. really wish i was still playing as john.

    • prices are insane its like 140 dollars more expensive, sigh
    • This seems backwards. You should have to explicitly authorize files for outside use. It shouldn't be the default.
    • Wow you are right, I never even noticed this until you said it! (870E Aorus Master) Before testing this card I had a TP-Link tx401 10GbE PCIe card in that slot (now using XikeStor 310 Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter).
    • Lack of 5.1 makes this a no sale. What I really wish creative would make would be a USB version that supports 5.1 analog audio for speakers, can switch to headphone mode, and matches the specs of their top tier cards. The current X870E AMD motherboards dont have a great option for adding a PCIE x1 card without cutting down pcie lanes to the graphics card.
    • The Microsoft Office feature that time forgot by Usama Jawad I have been actively using Microsoft Word for the past couple of decades in academic, professional, and personal capacities. Although I used it through the perpetual version of Office apps at the start, I have been an active subscriber of Microsoft 365 Family subscription for over five years now. This means that my Word installation is regularly updated with new features, some of which I don't really like, but that's beside the point. As new features get continuously added, old ones that used to be a staple of Word have started to take a backseat. While I was reminiscing over my Windows experiences from my childhood today, I suddenly remember one such capability that I heavily used in my younger years but have not really touched in over a decade, and haven't seen in documents created by others either. That feature is WordArt. Just to clarify, WordArt is not a Microsoft product specific to Word, and is included in other Office apps like PowerPoint and Excel too. However, Microsoft Word is the app that I used Word Art in heavily, while making assignments or other deliverables for school. If you're unaware, WordArt offers a collection of styling techniques for text, introducing 3D effects like shadows and reflections in the text. It used to be one of the coolest things ever when I was at school and me and my classmates would often compete to ensure that our assignment's title in WordArt was truly the best and stood out above the rest. See some examples of WordArt, still present in the latest versions of Word below: Although WordArt is undeniably cool, it has taken a bit of a backseat, and has been relegated from the Home tab to the Insert toolbar, along with a bunch of other utilities, making it very easy to miss. This isn't exactly surprising because WordArt doesn't really have a place in academic and professional documents anymore, and while I have seen some creatives using it while developing promo material, even that sector has gravitated more towards dedicated graphic designing tools in the past years. For the vast majority of us, WordArt doesn't really exist, and that's alright. At least, it's still an option that can allow us to reminisce our childhood or even make some quick text stylization, if we really need it. Perhaps its usage has waned over time or the novelty has worn off, but I haven't even seen children use it in their academic assignments anymore. In fact, many don't even know that it exists. Maybe that's the fate of every beloved feature. What once felt cutting edge eventually becomes a relic, quietly tucked away as tastes, trends, and technology move on. WordArt may no longer dominate school assignments or decorate the covers of classroom projects, but for those of us who grew up with it, it remains a colorful reminder of a time when making text glow, bend, and cast giant shadows felt like the height of creativity. Hidden behind a few clicks in modern Word, it still survives not as a productivity tool, but as a small piece of computing nostalgia that refuses to disappear.
