[Official] Red Dead Redemption

Completed the game today, finally! i think i've clocked about 22 hours, that's probably the longest story i've ever played. it's such a massive game, unfortunately i sort of lost track of what was going on during the story during mexico, but i caught back up with everything after that.

one of the most powerful endings i've ever had the privilege of experiencing

for people who have finished the game:

do you like playing as jack? i personally don't really like him, he's too arrogant and not as likeable as john was. really wish i was still playing as john.

The ending made me sad. : ( Would have preferred to have continued as John, but there is an additional story element for shifting to Jack - if you haven't come across it yet there is a related stranger mission at the station in Blackwater. Also be sure to check out a newspaper afterwards too. ; )

I bought this game so I could play online with some mates, so far we haven't been able to play together. I get an invite and keep getting an error message saying I couldn't connect.

Both my mates are having the same problem.

I've even tried to play 'capture the bag' but no one seems to join.

I can see people when I free roam and I can interact with them, but it's kinda boring.

One of my friends hopped on my 360 today and started going nuts. First he had to test out the "set a lady hogtied on the tracks" which cracked us all up. From there we all started joking that it would be incredibly sweet if you could ride up to a train and hop on. A minute later we found out Rockstar had thought the same thing. :D

Strong GOTY for me.

I have the limited edition and have all the peices for the Deadly Assassin Outfit, bar one.

I need to kill the dude from the most wanted poster at Abidillo, but the problem is it never spawns on the poster. I've done like 50 of those Most Wanted's now from there but the guy I need to kill just refuses to spawn.

So my question is, is it a random spawn or do I need to do anything in particular to make that event spawn?

which aiming mode do you guys use on single player? i didn't like the way normal locked on so i changed it to expert. sure makes it more of a challenge!

I just use the default option. Left trigger locks on, I move the cursor up a tiny bit, and its boom instant headshots.

Nope, it's supposed to be your first bounty. It's a known glitch. Either wait for a patch, or simply start over. Happened to me as well. I was +20hrs in and chose to start over. Didn't bother me none cause the game's so much fun.

What you'll want to do is make sure you get all B's missions done and out the way before picking anything up in Armadillo. When you get to Armadillo and you take on the Marshall's quest, make sure you kill the guy and not take him alive.

Do this and your first bounty should be Mo Vann Barr.

Thanks dude, I'm allready at Mexico with pretty good gear and everything else so I might just wait for the patch. :)

Cheers!

I got it this afternoon on 360. question... if I fail a mission by accidentally aiming a weapon at the person you're tying to 'rescue' and it says 'mission failed'... am I able to do that mission again or do I not get to complete it ever? :(

Its really fun though! really enjoying it :D

Yes you can just redo it (from last checkpoint) usually unless its the first bounty mission in Armadillo, which it seems, is bugged and won't respawn.

if your worried thou, just save your game at a house after each mission. If you fail one, you can always reload from that point.

I was going to pick this up, but I couldn't afford it..

One of my loyal UStream viewers said he hated it, has it for the PS3, and would be willing to send it to me if I wanted it, and so I pretty much jumped on the chance.

I'll have a copy of RDR for PS3 (for scott nothing) in 1-2 weeks, as it's coming from Europe.

Hooray for region free systems.

Just out of curiosity, did anyone see the short film that came on last night on Fox that was made from Red Dead Redemption? I can say that anyone that hasn't played the game, will not have a freaking clue what's going on from that. It seems like they tried to cram hours of cut scenes and story information into 20-30mins. I'm in Blackwater now, so I haven't finished the game yet, but even after playing the part where the short film takes place in makes no sense, and I know what happens. This is pretty bad.

Rockstar should definitely implement some of these minigames, minifeatures into GTA - RDR has so many small features that are wicked cool.

Yesterday I used my lasso to capture people, then I hogtied them and put them on the train tracks :D

And the aiming and shooting is great.

The Dead Eye feature is what the fallout 'deadeye' feature should have been.

Would also like to see Dead Eye implemented in GTA so we can disarm people of their weapons, bust their kneecaps etc

I just finished the game a few minutes ago. I'll hide the spoilers, so let's just say:

I'm not happy about it :( Was really messed up what happened. To the point where I seriously felt sad about what happened even though it's not even real, but because i experienced everything first hand, I grew to really like John Marston. I was really starting to like his wife too, even though they had some problems, they loved each other. It took a good 10mins or so before I realized the character you take over as was Jack too. I didn't realize this until I saw that the save location at the farm house moved from John's room to Jack's room lol. After he buried Abigail, I saw the character like "wtf is this???" I didn't recognize him at all, it was like a completely different person. Anyway, I really wish they would've let them live, but this made me hate those damn feds, pretty much like in real life lol. You do everything they ask, then you still die at the end. Was really f'd up to get gunned down like that.

Anyway, I can say this is one of the best games I've played this year, along side Mass Effect 2. I'm tempted to say I enjoyed this more than ME2, minus those damn cougar attacks and the random glitches/frustrations. Other than that, the game has been great.

I'm surprised people didn't see it coming, after you go to his farm to catch up with his family I knew he was going to die. I just wasn't sure if they would kill his wife too. Felt like a bit of a textbook ending.

I expected it, but I still didn't want it to happen lol. Oh well, I left a nice big hole in the back of Ross' head in the end, so that made me feel a little better. One thing that annoys me though is nobody seems to know Jack's name, even though I just reached maximum honor and fame. Pretty weak. I was starting to like everybody coming up to me like "Hello Mr. Marston."

    • Hey Google, these are the Gemini features I want in 2026 by Aditya Tiwari Google Gemini has been around for over three years. The AI chatbot started its journey back in 2023 (as Bard) when ChatGPT was already a talk of the town. However, it quickly attracted criticism after misrepresenting facts about the James Webb Space Telescope. The search giant spent a year fine-tuning Bard before rebranding the chatbot and its underlying generative AI model to Gemini, drawing inspiration from NASA's first human spaceflight program. Note that Bard was initially powered by LaMDA and PaLM 2; Google has since added several new features and integrations to Gemini. That said, there is scope for improvement and a gap for new features. I have been using Gemini for a while now and have realized that the chatbot lacks several features, making it harder for me to research across topics. These are mostly function-over-form updates that can improve the overall experience. Delete individual messages from a conversation Image via DepositPhotos.com One good thing about Gemini is that it can maintain context throughout the conversation. But things might get chaotic when you want to ask a related question, but don't want it to be part of your conversation in the long run. You can't ask that related question in a fresh chat because Gemini will lose the active conversation context of what you're trying to research. If Google allowed you to delete individual question/answer pairs, you could simply ask about a sub-topic and remove it from the conversation to create a smooth flow of important stuff. Offline mode Image via DepositPhotos.com A big pain of using Gemini daily is that everything loads from the cloud. It takes time for your chats to appear, and you can't view your conversation history while offline. To get a better idea, you can open the Gemini app and see how it looks without an internet connection. While Gemini models run in the cloud, it wouldn't hurt if Google could store chats (at least the text part) on the device so we can refer to them when offline. Google can also offer a lightweight version of its AI model to help with basic drafting, summarization, and other tasks. It has the Gemini Nano model, which can perform on-device processing on Google Pixel, Samsung, and some other Android brands, but it's a system feature and not related to the cloud-based Gemini app. Make temporary chats permanent I can't thank Google enough for taking the time and effort to add incognito mode or temporary chat mode to the Gemini app. It lets you have conversations without worrying that the topics will end up in your chat history or used for model training (at least on paper). Google claims that it doesn't use your temporary chats to "personalize your Gemini experience or train Google’s AI models." However, the data is stored "up to 72 hours to respond to you and to process any feedback you choose to provide." That said, I often start researching something in a temporary chat, only to realize the chatbot's answer is good enough to refer to later. Sadly, Gemini doesn't have an option to make such temporary chats permanent. In other words, I won't be able to follow up on it if I close the temporary chat. I'm left with alternatives like copying the answers into notes or another app. My digital life will get a lot better if Gemini gets a button to make temporary chats permanent. Collapse answers for a cleaner view You're heavily invested in your research game and suddenly feel the need to go up in the chat to recall something. This is when the conversation thread starts to feel like an overwhelming, unending wall of questions and answers. What if Google added a way to collapse Q&A pairs in the Gemini chat thread? It would look quite clean and easy to navigate. You'll quickly get an overview of everything you have discussed with the chatbot. Add buttons to jump between messages Suggested mockup of the feature. This reminds me of a small but useful Gemini feature that Google could add to its chatbot: the ability to hop between prompts in a conversation. Just add simple up- and down-arrow buttons, similar to YouTube Shorts, so people can quickly scroll through the messages. A table of contents or Chat Overview It's hard to get a bird's-eye view of everything you have discussed with the chatbot during a lengthy conversation. This is where a table of contents, or Chat Overview, displayed at the top of the screen, possibly in a drop-down button, might come in handy. You'll be able to get an overview of the chat and jump between messages, serving as an alternative to the up/down arrow buttons. Temporary mode for Gemini Live Image: Google You can use Gemini Live to have real-time conversations with the chatbot, which feels like you're talking to someone in the same room. However, a downside is that Gemini Live doesn't work in Temporary Chat mode, so all your conversations end up in the chat history. Google should consider expanding the temporary chat mode to include Gemini Live. Default to a specific chat One thing that feels somewhat annoying to me is that Gemini always opens in a new chat, whether on web or mobile. Sometimes, you want to return to your last chat. Google can take cues from web browsers, which let you choose whether you want to go to a new tab or a specific web page(s). Gemini can also have options to default to a specific chat when reopened. That said, generative AI chatbots have endless possibilities given the vagueness of their work. You can mold them the way you want by attaching different connectors, adding custom instructions, and including source files. It remains to be seen what Google has in store for future updates and whether anything from this wishlist gets the green light. The search giant released a stream of new Gemini updates in recent months, including Gemini 3.5 Flash and Gemini Omni Spark, adding that it now has 13 products with more than a billion users each. What do you want to see in the Gemini app? Tell us in the comments.
